Dr. Maat graduated from Morgan State University with a Doctorate in Engineering. Now she is a professor of Engineering at Morgan State University. She comes from a family of educators and activists and is continuing the work with her own community activism. She is also the founder of EdAnime Productions, a family owned and operated company that develops animations focusing on black history. One of the popular series that EdAnime has produced is called Meltrek. Meltrek explores Ancient Africa, Pre-Columbian Americas, and more.  It also incorporates the use of Hip Hop in the stories in order to captivate the audience.
