imagefrom the second edition of the band band Rhythm of Lines,
early 1980. Dan Mason, guitar and vocals; Jay McClenaghan, bass and synths; Charles Thompson, synths; Greg DiSabatino, drums;
recorded live to cassette

anyone, anywhere, at any time could have
stopped any or all of the steel-trigger dancers
whirling like dervishes, moaning like throat-cut
as we took the white-light heat into our midst

anyone, anywhere, at any time could have been
stopped by the steel-trigger soldiers on duty
at the blockade, (dissolve into gray anti-matter)
whirling like dervishes, leaving them dead

behind enemy lines, the tension-stretched dancers
alarms and fever, the citizen shot dead
the white-light enchanter, surrounded by dancers
with darkness, in darkness, is led to the city

tension-stretched eyes on the palace are focused
moaning like throat-cut and heard in the corner
of every citizen who, with fear, approaches
the dancers, like dervishes, absorbed into the light
