Dian and Lydie meet with Émilie Monnet, indigenous and multidisciplinary artist of Anishinaabe and French descent to discuss the connection between the Black and Indigenous communities in Canada, especially surrounding storytelling.
Her work brings together video, theatre, performance, and media arts to question the notions of identity, memory, heritage, and language. In 2011, she founded Onishka Productions, a multidisciplinary artistic institution based in Montreal which aims to create links between indigenous communities in Quebec and throughout the world. As a playwright, she published Okinum with Les Herbes Rouges in 2020, and has received many awards. Her play Marguerite : le feu is part of a triad, along with Marguerite : la pierre (performative and sound installation) and Marguerite : la traversée (podcasts).
