Best horror podcasts out!
Not scary (at least not many), just stories. Kind of hard to hear, especially in a car.
An anthology podcast with spooky -not scary- tales of varying quality. Some are okay, some are downright silly (a bunch of dolls show up at some cabins in the woods?) and a handful are good. Since the narrator is the same for most of them and he doesn't vary his tone much and they're in first person, the show has an odd quality where it feels like different things keep happening to the same slightly boring guy.
Narration is monotonous. Practically puts me to sleep. Starts a sentence and then fades off, mumbling, sometimes almost whispering like he's talking to himself, not narrating. Stories are too boring to be so drawn out.
While none of the stories have left me awake at night, there's an unspeakable aspect to this podcast that always keeps me coming back. The grounded, stripped back approach keeps it more approachable, and tension is built through raw storytelling as opposed to cheap jump scares and music.Don't expect there to always be a monster or eldritch horror at the end of each story either. While some stories don't have quite the payoff I was hoping for, they always seem to find a fitting conclusion. The stories feel so real, however, that any eldritch creature or shrieking ghost would actually take away from their overall tone and quality. This isn't your typical horror anthology. If you're looking for gore, monsters, and terrifying tales, best look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for deeper musings on what truly terrifies us, you may find yourself hooked.
This is really something special, and I've had a frustratingly difficult time finding anything with quite the same feel. The writing is very good, and the delivery makes it all feel very authentic. The stripped down production adds to this. There's no soundtrack, no distractions from the content to remind you is just a bit of fiction. Love it.
I can't remember how I came across Knifepoint Horror just that it is one of the first podcasts I listened to. It is also one of the best out there, and sets the bar for horror fiction.Soren Narnia's stories are creepy and the delivery captivating. The first person narrative, usually starting with the narrator stating their name, draws me right in. Usually Soren relates the story on his own, though some more recent episodes have involved other voice actors. Some stories are a bit longer – like the recent 'colony', which was close to two hours – so I like to set aside time to properly listen. Bonus points for being under an open licence (CC BY NC ND doesn't count). Soren also has a YouTube channel for some extra content, and some of his dry humour.
Knifepoint horror is one of the oldest, most specific voices in horror podcasting - and it is still the show which most consistently keeps me up at night. Soren Narnia is a quiet genius of the genre, teasing out unnerving images and situations every single episode. This is not writers-room horror, and it's not Hollywood, and it's not Stephen King. It's not flashy or apocalyptic. It's grounded horror. It's the thing that actually scares you. It's the scream barely heard through the walls of your apartment, or the one thing you saw but just can't explain. I've listened to Knifepoint Horror for damn near a decade and it is still fresh, still chilling. Listen to Knifepoint Horror.
This is one of my favorite and longest running podcasts in my regular listening rotation. It's frightening stories, but not over-the-top horror. The style in which the stories are shared is unique and allows for a more raw listening experience, and makes for a peaceful listen episode-to-episode without much interruption.
One of the best horror podcasts out there. Minimal production, no sound effects and rarely music. Just a single voice (usually) telling you a story. Narnia explores some common horror tropes in these original tales, as well as some new imaginations. Spare, taut, and truly unsettling, Knifepoint Horror is one show you'll return to. The episodes aren't related. Looking for a way in? Start with "attic."
Simply one of the best horror podcasts out there. Don't expect to post stories consistently, but it is a real treat when they arrive.
This is an excellent podcast. The smooth and fluent narration paired with great stories makes it an easy binge.Very well done. I recommend.
Incredible, lovecraftian horror. Do not miss!
Hands down the very best narrator and writer you'll find anywhere! He emerges the listener into his stories like no one I've found can do. If you haven't discovered Soren yet... you're welcome! ✌️
Easily the greatest original-horror podcast out there. Soren’s work is took with arresting quiet and simplicity and evokes the truest form of terror in its listeners - no cheap scares, no emphasis on high production value, music or sound effects - just takes from the horrifyingly brilliant mind of Soren Narnia!
The stories on this podcast are excellent and the narration is first class. Not to be missed.
There are a lot of great podcasts out there with a large cast of voice actors, and glossy prodcution. I think Knifepoint Horror is great, because it shows people how good a podcast can be with just a narrator and a story. There are some episodes with extra voice talent, but I like the podcast because it showcases how good of writer Soren Narnia really is. The stories tend to lean towards horror, but the endings are left open. They're stories that stay with you.
