Have you ever had strawberry salsa. I love it. I think it's bred
0:09
and go ahead and throw his That was delicious. Yeah, that was great.
0:12
That was great. Oh I have some warm Okay. I never would
0:15
have thought of putting cilantro and strawberries together. Here they are basic ingredients to
0:21
the salsa, green onions, halapenos serrano. I mean, you know,
0:25
cilantro and a little bit of lime juice and a little chomp, chomp,
0:29
chomp. We're talking about the Strawberry Festival, which is coming up this weekend.
0:34
Starts tomorrow. Festival hours go from one until from one pm until ten
0:39
pm, so you can come out and see our news and bruce up in
0:42
Lancaster, make your way all the way back down to Garden Rope and catch
0:46
it probably by the time that ends. For that sounds like a fun day.
0:49
But our celebrity grand marshals this year are wing Lamb, Ed Lee and
0:53
Mingo Lee of course from Wahoo's and wing Lamb is here with us to help
0:58
kick off Strawberry Festival. I feel like everybody knows when right, like everybody
1:02
and if you're in southern California, yeah that's right. Yeah, it's like
1:06
you know, old friends come to the show day, so we appreciate it.
1:08
It's always fun to be here. Okay, if I come on Neo
1:11
Servedria Kama, our food guy the Fork Report on Saturdays, it's always fun
1:15
to hang out with him. You were talking about sort of how you got
1:19
involved with Strawberry Festival from you know, pandemic. We've we've talked many times
1:23
with restaurant owners and small business owners who pandemic comes along and punches everybody in
1:27
the throat and we had to kind of scramble to find new ways to do
1:32
business and new new products to pitch, and you know, to change a
1:36
way, change around sort of the structure of what these businesses were. How
1:40
did you get involved with with Strawberry Festival. Well, basically, Andrew,
1:45
who's the director, came to me years ago and say, hey, we
1:48
need a little bit of help, you know, getting you know, awareness
1:51
out. What do you mean awareness thing's been around for sixty four years.
1:53
Yeah, but it's one of those that you kind of even the Fair,
1:57
all these events they kind of get forgotten. You know, you need a
2:00
reminder. So I started out to day let me help you with some of
2:04
the media people We know, and just starting a radio, TV and all
2:07
that, and then out of the blue, they change the theme of this
2:12
year to be, you know, like all hometown heroes, and they thought,
2:15
well, you know, you've been helping us out, why not have you guys be the Grand Marshals. I'm like, we're helping you guys.
2:21
We don't want to, you know, we don't need to be on the front. We just were just happying part of the community. And they said,
2:25
no, we really appreciate all that you guys have done. So we
2:30
get to ride in the parade. That's so cool. Are you going to have a Grand Marshall outfit? Probably a gigantic strawberry Yeah. I love that.
2:39
They're doing all kinds of stuff. So Tomorrow at six o'clock on Main
2:43
Street and Garden Growth, they're doing the opening ceremony two thousand free pieces of
2:46
strawberry cake. Yep. Saturday is the parade starting at ten am, and
2:52
then the food, the rides, the live music, everything continues through through
2:55
Monday night. I mean there's a tribute there's an air Ro Smith tribute band,
3:00
a def Leopard tribute band. I mean, this is going to be
3:02
a lot of fun. Yeah, and pretty much everything is free except for
3:07
the rides and what you eat right right, and again all the proceeds go
3:10
to local charities. So that's the most amazing part. So walking to the
3:15
festivals free. But if you want to participate in some of the rides and all that a little bit of money, but all that local nonprofits are running
3:22
it. How versatile is a strawberry? I mean just in terms of the
3:25
way that the different kind of things that you could prepare with it is it
3:29
would you consider it a pretty versatile food? Amazing? I mean, come
3:31
on, it's like you can have it with ice cream. You can have
3:35
it, you know, on top of anything like the French those you're getting
3:37
ready to a mean ingredient in the you know, yogurt right here, sure,
3:42
and the salsa not to mention hibiscus tea. The seven Leasa is making
3:46
I am super excited about this one event on Sunday eleven am the Berry Very
3:53
Beautiful Baby Contest. This for babies three months to two years old. You
3:59
can sign up on online. Do people dress their babies as strawberries? Amassing?
4:02
Yes, yes, yeah, it's adorable. A bunch of little babies
4:06
as strawberries does it get better than that? I mean it's super fun.
4:12
I mean again, super community friendly and again you know, never mind that
4:16
there's less and less strawberries grown around town, but the festival, the tradition
4:20
is still there. So it's time we get together. Wing. Is is
4:24
Amy King going to go into the Redhead round up contest? You know I
4:28
was here with her last week. Yeah, I'm gonna try to get as
4:30
