Ann Heron murhattiin omassa kodissaan keskellä päivää Englannin Darlingtonissa vuonna 1990. Rikoksen tutkiminen oli alusta asti vaikeaa, vaikka jo viikko tapahtuneen jälkeen poliiseilla oli tiedossa epäilty, joka myös myöhemmin pidätettiin. Poliisia on alusta asti mietityttänyt, ovatko lukuisat Annin kodin lähistöllä murhapäivänä tehdyt havainnot luotettavia, ja voisivatko ne olla avainasemassa jutun ratkaisemiseksi.
