What's up everyone? Welcome

0:13

to the 608th episode of

0:15

the Pokémon Podcast. It's super effective.

0:17

I'm your host, Steve. With me

0:19

is Hannah. Hello, I am here.

0:22

I've been watching the new anime

0:24

and Liko talks in her head

0:26

so much. It feels so,

0:28

so real. We'll, we'll talk

0:30

more about that. But Liko is so good.

0:33

Is she though? She's pretty bad trainer. She's

0:36

learning. She learned a... She didn't

0:38

lose a Pokémon in the first three episodes. That's

0:40

all I gotta say. Greg is also here. I

0:43

am also here. I have also been watching

0:45

Horizons. I was watching it right before I started

0:48

coming up here and setting up. I was

0:50

like, y'all aren't awake. So I'm going to

0:52

watch some Pokémon anime. Yeah.

0:56

I... I finished Horizons.

0:58

That will be a big part of the show. Although there

1:00

will be no spoilers for the

1:02

anime that we only got 12 episodes of that Japan

1:05

has 45 episodes of. There

1:07

will be no spoilers. The

1:09

episodes that have been out there for a full

1:11

year in other parts of the world. Yeah, but

1:13

we will. I think there are 22 English

1:17

episodes if you were to

1:19

like switch to the UK

1:21

broadcasts. Anyways, there's

1:23

no difference between the UK and the American

1:25

from... They didn't get new voice

1:27

actors for this too. It

1:31

lists a bunch of other languages. I promise. I

1:33

checked. Because

1:36

I was... That was... Well, okay. Hold

1:39

on. We

1:41

got anime. We got raids. We

1:43

got Toyota makes a motorcycle about

1:46

Mariah Don. And then we have

1:48

Pokémon Go Fest. That's the

1:50

episode. Okay,

1:52

so Pokémon Horizons. I thought

1:54

I was misremembered. I

1:57

thought that Verona... Sorry, not Verona. I thought

1:59

that... I thought that Sarah

2:01

Natucheny was Roy. I

2:04

thought that was talked about from

2:06

last year's San Diego Comic Con

2:08

that people were excited that

2:10

Sarah was in it. Sarah is in it.

2:13

She is. Not as Roy. But not as

2:15

Roy. But Roy, if you didn't know

2:17

any better or if somebody said, Hey, Sarah's Roy,

2:19

you could probably be like, Oh yeah, that sounds

2:21

like Sarah. But it's not her.

2:24

Yeah. The new, the voice

2:26

actor of Roy, Andelie Kunapaneni.

2:29

That was a last name. That was definitely.

2:33

I listened to a couple of interviews to try to make

2:35

sure I got it right. Okay. Okay. They sound very

2:37

similar to Sarah. So I also had to look it

2:39

up just to make sure that

2:41

Ash didn't just turn into Roy. Again,

2:44

I just remember, and

2:46

it's probably just me misremembering. I just remember that

2:49

they showed that what, like first 12 minutes

2:51

of the Pokemon anime over a year

2:53

ago at San Diego Comic Con. And the

2:56

big news was like Sarah was back and

2:58

then people were talking about Roy. So I

3:01

guess in my head, I was like, Oh,

3:03

Sarah must be Roy. But Sarah is just

3:05

the very first girl that says like,

3:08

Who is that girl? Referring to

3:10

Liko. And some of the Pokemon,

3:12

I think. Yeah. Yeah. I

3:14

thought they would have given her a bigger

3:16

role. I mean, I'm sure she'll

3:18

be like multiple random girls

3:20

or boys returning characters. Yeah.

3:24

In my head, I was just like, Oh, they

3:26

just, she's not, she's just, she's going to be

3:29

Roy. That makes sense. Cause Ash is

3:31

a boy. She plays young, very

3:34

common for women to play young boy characters.

3:36

And the more I saw Roy, I was like, Oh, okay.

3:38

This is like, if you saw like 10 minutes

3:41

of Roy, you'd be like, Oh, this sounds like

3:43

Sarah. But now that Roy is like fleshed out,

3:45

like, okay, Roy is definitely his own

3:47

person. There's

3:49

12 episodes on Netflix. Hmm.

3:52

I do have something that refers to an

3:54

interview with Ash, but before we get to

3:57

that kind of stuff, Hannah, how far are

3:59

you in horizons? I am halfway through.

4:01

So I have met Leko and I have

4:03

met Roy and I have seen their

4:05

partner Pokemon and those

4:08

beginnings of interactions and

4:10

I'm really enjoying all of it. Honestly,

4:12

I like it as much as I

4:15

expected. I like it better than the

4:17

anime with Ash that was kind of

4:19

getting repetitive. I know they

4:21

continued to improve on it, but

4:24

this feels like it's an actual story. 25

4:27

years is a little more. I

4:31

mean, I liked the old anime. I grew up with

4:33

the old anime, but I don't know whether it's because

4:35

I just like Leko or because I

4:38

like the fact that this feels like a

4:40

brand new story completely unlike

4:42

what we have had before in a

4:44

lot of ways. I'm really enjoying it.

4:47

Leko is kind of introverted and over-thinks a

4:49

whole lot and there are

4:51

some points where it's kind of hard to

4:53

tell whether she's talking out loud or just

4:55

thinking to herself and the

4:57

animation isn't as good as it

5:00

used to be so that makes

5:02

it even harder to tell sometimes.

5:04

Mm-hmm. But I

5:07

still really like characters. Plus, they

5:09

blew their budget on that last season of Ash. We

5:15

have a bunch of adult Pokemon

5:17

trainers as main characters in this

5:19

new series or at least as primary

5:22

side characters. Yeah, it's

5:24

kind of, they don't even say Leko's age.

5:26

No. If it's like Paldea,

5:29

she should be closer like 14. Yeah.

5:32

Which also I feel like makes sense

5:34

because I feel like as

5:36

a 10 year old, I wasn't in my

5:38

head as much as I was. What

5:41

grade are you in in 14? Like high

5:43

school? I think not. Probably freshman

5:45

depends. Freshman last. Freshman in high school,

5:48

yeah. Justin Zyer high school was set

5:50

up because when

5:53

I started junior high, junior high

5:55

was 7'8'' 9'' and

5:58

then I switched schools and they're just junior

6:00

high and it was only seven, eight, and their

6:02

highest school was nine, ten, eleven, twelve. Yeah,

6:04

my high school was nine, ten, eleven, twelve. That

6:07

varies, but yeah, you're around

6:09

the ninth grade. I

6:12

don't know, it does come across, I'm pretty

6:14

sure in Pal day your characters are supposed to be

6:16

like fourteen, and then suddenly I think your characters are supposed

6:18

to be like twelve. I don't know, they've like slowly aged it

6:20

up. Is it

6:22

just me or does Liko come across as a little

6:24

bit older than Roy? No, she does. Okay.

6:29

I mean, it's hard to tell. It's

6:31

hard to tell because Roy is excitable

6:34

and we equate

6:37

excitability with immaturity, so

6:39

he reads younger where they may be the

6:41

exact same age. Yeah, that's

6:44

absolutely fair. There was also a height difference that

6:46

had me thinking that at one point too. Oh,

6:49

I kind of, I guess I didn't think

6:51

about Roy's age as much as Liko

6:54

versus Emethio

6:56

versus Freed, because

6:59

I can't tell how old Emethio

7:01

is compared to, like Freed is

7:03

adult, right? Obviously Freed

7:05

is in his twenties probably. I guess there

7:08

will be minor spoilers. At least. So

7:11

minor, minor spoilers. It's like

7:13

episode three, they say

7:16

that Freed is a professor. That's

7:18

in episode six. I can... Yeah.

7:21

Yep. No, they definitely say it before

7:23

the first four episodes because I knew that in New

7:25

York. They say it really

7:27

quickly and then

7:30

they flesh it out more in episode six

7:32

that he is a professor. No, they

7:34

say it exactly in episode four

7:37

because that's when you meet Roy, that Freed is professor.

7:39

Yeah, because the old grandpa

7:41

guy calls him professor. Yep. And

7:44

he says, don't. Yeah. That

7:46

was maybe episode five. It was 100%

7:48

in the first four episodes because that's all I saw

7:50

in New York and I knew leaving New York in

7:52

episode six. I don't know. I'm

7:55

just in episode six. I

7:58

don't know. I

8:00

don't pay attention to just let them run so I'm

8:02

like I don't know what episode this is when it's

8:05

done is done I'll look what I have to start

8:07

up again. But yeah, no freed is

8:09

definitely an adult Yes, and

8:11

so then that like I have no clue

8:14

in what age range a Methio

8:16

is also adult because it looks like he

8:19

because he has a job He's

8:23

clearly employed I don't know

8:26

You don't have to be an adult to be employed Sure,

8:29

sure, sure, but like he's not reporting to

8:31

school or at least we're not seeing him

8:33

reporting to school He's reporting to a

8:35

drop-down. He feels like a teenager. He feels

8:38

like a Zico character. Yeah slightly older than

8:40

the main characters He

8:42

feels in the 17 18 19 range. Yeah Maybe

8:46

maybe even I would say 16 17 17 You

8:51

know in that four years where you

8:54

know, he's people's bosses But

8:57

he also has a boss. Yeah,

8:59

I mean he's clearly some nepotism

9:01

going on there. Yeah Clearly

9:03

people's bosses sort of kind of

9:05

I mean, this is

9:07

an evil organization We don't know what

9:10

their power structure is yet. Greg.

9:12

How far are you? You know, I'm about halfway

9:14

I think I don't know what episodes I'm gonna

9:16

don't pay attention. Okay, I'm in an episode

9:19

After everybody is finally on the

9:23

airship the airship so everybody

9:26

no more like These are

9:28

the main character introduction stuff. Like

9:30

everybody is now together and they're

9:32

all frustrating me

9:34

because Again, they write

9:37

them where like who could this character be and

9:39

I'm like Pay any

9:41

attention, you know Character is

9:43

both I whatever It's

9:46

supposed to be a mystery who some

9:48

of these people are and I'm like, mmm. Is it

9:50

though? Yeah, I think it's

9:53

fine. I mean like again, I think it's

9:55

probably less obvious I don't know if

9:58

that thing didn't exist for the last year You

10:00

would like see like random Screenshots

10:04

and you're like, ah, they gotta put they gotta put two

10:06

and two together eventually Some disclosure

10:08

here at the Pokemon company paid for me to

10:10

go out to New York They

10:13

paid for my flight in hotel. I went to

10:15

a red carpet. There was actually a red carpet.

10:17

It was very tiny though I went to a

10:19

red carpet preview of Pokemon horizons I

10:22

took a bunch of video that I was like, I don't

10:24

know I'm gonna do with because It's

10:27

just a venue that had like

10:29

popcorn and and stuff. Obviously

10:31

you couldn't film the screen. That would be weird But

10:36

I did see the first four episodes They

10:38

brought they invited like a hundred people out I don't know

10:40

how I was told like 30% with content creators 70% were

10:42

like people of media So

10:46

like I don't IGN game spot

10:49

people who report on news Game

10:52

the game people were allowed to bring like

10:54

plus ones and and their kids their kids

10:56

counted for plus ones So you saw a

10:58

lot of games media bring their kids So

11:02

I would say there was probably like 20% if

11:05

you imagine a hundred people imagine

11:07

like 80 adults and then 20 kids Which

11:10

is not still not a good ratio. That's still too

11:12

many kids, but they had a

11:14

good time They had like they they had

11:17

their like coloring station Pokemon loves coloring stations

11:19

Like you go to like a world or

11:21

national nationals or regionals any of

11:23

these events. They got coloring stations I

11:26

met captain Pikachu got a picture with captain

11:28

Pikachu. He was real great They

11:30

had like a bar but the bar

11:32

was all non-alcoholic drinks so you could

11:35

get like a pokeball fruit punch that

11:37

That's pretty cool A

11:41

white liquid on top No,

11:44

it's just it's just it's like

11:47

the salt on

11:49

the rim But

11:52

then it was just fruit punch so

11:54

like a margarita yeah without the

11:56

alcohol just fruit punch Yeah,

12:00

so like a margarita without alcohol. But

12:03

how is it Pokeball then? Like they should

12:05

have like it was in the cup. The

12:08

cup had like the pokeball like the top

12:10

half of the cup was like frosted. Or

12:13

the bottom half. Yeah, bottom half. Look.

12:16

Sure. It

12:19

was the theme that counted. They

12:22

did. This drove me insane. Again,

12:26

thank you, Pokemon, for inviting me. But,

12:29

but they

12:32

had a free tote bags and

12:34

then they would embroider your initials on

12:37

the tote bag, which is very cool.

12:39

And they had three tote bags you

12:41

could pick from. The first one

12:44

was Sprigotito. The second was

12:46

Fuehkoko. And the

12:49

third was my favorite starter,

12:51

Captain Pikachu. There was no

12:53

Quaxly. They

12:56

had three tote bags to assist

12:58

starters. That is unacceptable.

13:02

They've definitely decided which of the popular ones. And

13:05

I was like, where's the Quaxly? And

13:08

they're like, I know we're upset too. And I was

13:10

like, when you watch the anime,

13:13

at least the first four episodes, you

13:15

understand maybe why they don't

13:17

do a Quaxly bag. But Quaxly

13:19

is in it. Yeah,

13:21

I mean, Quaxly is also a

13:24

starter. Oh, the regions. That's

13:26

how I checked you. Before your anime hit.

13:30

They, it's very

13:32

much for the Quaxly thing.

13:34

It's very much like, gosh,

13:37

what, what? Sword and

13:39

Shield. No, Sun and Moon. It took

13:42

forever for Poplio to show up in

13:44

Sun and Moon. Forever. And

13:46

at least Quaxly is like there on

13:48

the airship and like no one acknowledges

13:50

them until later. But there

13:54

is a Quaxly present. It's

13:57

in the end theme at least. Maybe.

14:00

in the entry theme. There is an entry

14:02

theme. Yeah, Quaxly's

14:04

there. Quaxly's all over

14:06

the place. Y'all are just haters.

14:09

Yes. There's the YouTuber. The YouTuber

14:11

has a Quaxly and there's a Quaxly on

14:13

the airship. There's two Quaxlys.

14:17

And you could also put two and two together eventually

14:19

but you know. Yep, you

14:21

sure could. You could. You

14:25

know, it could be like another Squirtle

14:27

squad. Maybe there's just many Quaxlys walking

14:29

around this world and they

14:31

will all meet up and they'll

14:33

put on fires. One of them will have glasses.

14:37

I really, really enjoyed all 12

14:40

episodes. I think there was like

14:42

out of the 12 I watched. This is

14:44

how I always gauge anime or just like

14:46

any form of TV. This is why I

14:48

like when people are like, Steve, you like

14:50

wrestling, you watch wrestling. Watch

14:52

is a really strong word to use

14:55

when I'm referring. Like wrestling

14:57

is on. Something

14:59

else is taking like it's there

15:01

somewhere behind my computer screen as

15:03

I'm like working on something. So

15:05

I always gauge how I like

15:08

TV based off of like how

15:10

often am I picking up my

15:12

phone? How often am I

15:14

checking Twitter or maybe not

15:16

paying attention? The

15:18

one piece live action. I was very much

15:21

like, I can't look. I need

15:23

to know. I can't look away. This is very

15:25

good. I enjoyed that a lot. There's

15:27

like only like one or two parts in the 12 episodes where

15:29

I was like, okay, come on. Let's

15:32

get a move on here. But

15:35

I think the pacing is really good. Obviously,

15:37

I watched with a bunch of people in New York and

15:40

then I was like, I'll start over

15:42

on my couch just

15:45

in case there was anything cut, I guess. I

15:47

don't know. Like I was like, there

15:49

was no who's that Pokemon in New York. Oh,

15:52

yeah. And I was like, maybe they cut that. So

15:54

I was like, let me watch the first episode again.

15:56

I was like, oh, no, they did. We're

15:59

just done with who. Who's that Pokemon I guess?

16:01

Well, there's no de- like, there's no

16:03

intermission. There's no intermission. There's

16:05

no intermission. Is there even pretending anymore that

16:08

this is on a TV station that has

16:10

to run ads? They're like, nope, you're already

16:12

paying what ads would take care of you.

16:14

But it is on like Tokyo TV and

16:16

it's on Canadian TV, I

16:18

think. I think it's on their normal

16:20

TV in Canada. It's on

16:22

somebody's regular TV. For

16:24

me, this anime felt like

16:27

an anime. Yes, exactly.

16:30

I don't know how to describe

16:32

that. Yeah, that needs actual explanation

16:34

from both of you. All

16:37

right, hold on. Hannah, hold

16:39

your thoughts. You form a better thought than

16:42

I am about to form. You do

16:44

that. I would say old-

16:47

and I think Greg can relate to this. I

16:49

don't think old Pokemon ever felt like an

16:51

anime. I felt like old

16:53

Pokemon felt like Scooby-Doo. Scooby-Doo

16:56

was Monster slash Bad

16:58

Guy of the Week. Pokemon

17:00

was very much like, which Pokemon are

17:02

we going to find this week and

17:05

help solve that problem? And

17:07

you could pick any episode of Scooby-Doo,

17:09

you could pick any episode of Pokemon

17:11

and understand the gist of it. Just

17:14

be completely okay with like, okay,

17:16

this week there's a Heracross. It

17:19

got stuck. It sucked

17:21

the nectar out of a Bulbasaur. Problem

17:24

solved. Let's move on to next week. Okay,

17:27

this week there's a Wimpod.

17:29

He's scared. We solved this. He's

17:31

no longer scared. He

17:34

got over his fears and now he's a

17:36

scary Golisopod. Episode done. You're

17:39

good. There are, of course, some episodes of the

17:41

Pokemon anime where they do leave a cliffhanger and

17:43

stuff, but every episode of

17:45

Horizons is literally like an anime cliffhanger

17:47

of like, there's like two

17:49

episodes I think like that kind of end like, okay,

17:51

we could stop here. Well,

17:54

let's say so far. So

17:57

far. So far. We only

17:59

have 12 of what's a... long series of filler and

18:01

if there's anything we want to talk about

18:03

with anime is they love their filler episodes.

18:06

I understand that you're saying it has the

18:08

first episodes have lean

18:11

into the overarching

18:13

storyline more than a

18:15

lot of the first seasons of Pokemon

18:19

ever did because the It

18:22

was like okay. Well if we just did

18:24

eight gyms and the Elite Four, that's a

18:27

12 That's just

18:29

12 episodes. It would be popping our pockets

18:31

at that point. We need to get 42 out of this so

18:33

we're gonna have to Pack it

18:36

in but like if you go

18:38

into later and like

18:40

later parts of Pokemon

18:43

the anime where they do have an

18:45

overarching thing they do sometimes do that

18:48

I think this is leaning a little bit

18:50

more that way But it's

18:53

I think it's real early to It

18:56

is kind of early to say a little early But

18:59

I do think that it's helped by the fact

19:01

that a lot of people are streaming this and

19:03

that a lot of people aren't watching it on

19:06

live TV that they're more maybe

19:08

more open to doing something that is

19:10

an actual storyline than just doing a

19:12

monster of the week type of Thing

19:16

which some anime are monster

19:18

of the week. That's never quite been

19:20

my thing Star

19:22

Trek was very much monster of the week at

19:24

a certain point back in the day

19:26

Yeah, a lot of a lot of TV shows

19:28

when you have to fill 24 episodes You're

19:31

gonna be like well, we have a plot line

19:33

that'll last for what else are we gonna do?

19:36

And when it's on a TV once

19:38

a week every week and somebody new could be

19:40

picking it up every week You kind of have

19:42

to have the basics of every character and every

19:44

episode But with streaming you

19:47

don't have to do that quite as much anymore That's

19:49

one of the reasons I think

19:52

that we're getting more story here. I mean TV

19:54

watching has changed drastically How

19:57

things are approved for TV have

19:59

changed drastically. I don't

20:01

say necessarily that Pokemon has this

20:03

problem where they have to prove themselves in

20:06

only 13 episodes to see if they're gonna

20:08

picked up like Pokemon is going to last

20:11

forever. Are we gonna get 12 more episodes for

20:14

Rises? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. But

20:17

I think they have to match what

20:19

is happening currently in how entertainment

20:22

is run. Most

20:24

shows where they used to get 20 second

20:26

episodes are now almost always only ever approved

20:28

for 13. And

20:31

they have to pace their

20:33

plot in those 13 episodes

20:35

to get enough interest to

20:37

maybe get continued. And

20:39

that is how we are used to

20:41

watching TV shows now, whether it's on

20:44

TV itself or in

20:46

streaming because if

20:48

you watch things on Hulu that are

20:50

week by week, it does the same

20:53

structure, right? Like this is just how

20:55

media has changed to meet whatever they've

20:57

decided demand is. So I

21:01

don't know that this path is going to last.

21:04

I don't know that we are going to

21:07

have a full-on drive every episode striving towards

21:09

this one plotline because they

21:11

do have a much longer arc

21:13

that already exists, but they

21:16

can sort of ignore how media works

21:19

currently. I'm not sure

21:21

I would agree with all of that. Even the

21:24

shows that are week by week on Hulu or

21:26

even Netflix or anything like that, you

21:29

can still go and binge watch all the

21:31

episodes that come before that. And so that means that

21:33

they're not really episodic in the same way that they

21:35

used to be. And I would say

21:37

that even today, the

21:40

trend is more towards six to eight

21:42

episodes than 12 or 13. And I'm

21:44

really glad that the Horizons isn't. They've

21:49

dropped it again, which is unfortunate. I don't like

21:51

the six to eight episodes. That feels too short

21:53

for it. Almost any

21:55

season. I mean, they just they keep chopping

21:58

it down, which is a bad. trend

22:00

in television creation, as

22:04

a bad trend in general entertainment creation,

22:06

where they just keep chopping down how

22:08

much you get before you're approved again.

22:10

And I could go off

22:12

about why they do that and the money that they

22:14

quote unquote save. But I think I don't

22:18

see how given sort

22:20

of the general

22:24

deepness of what

22:26

the central mystery is, that

22:29

there aren't going to have to be filler

22:31

episodes. I mean, there already are filler episodes.

22:33

Yeah. Like they're going to have

22:35

to start filling some stuff in because otherwise

22:37

they can... You say the first pretty much...

22:39

The first one was pretty quick. There

22:42

are parts of the episodes that

22:44

feel like filler, less than just

22:46

geared towards the story 100% of

22:48

the time. There's always going to be straying off

22:51

the path some. And that's not a

22:53

bad thing. I guess you guys didn't finish, but like

22:55

there are two... At the end

22:57

of 12 episodes, there are two plot points,

23:00

not one. They add

23:02

like two missions. Like Liko has

23:04

her mission and then Roy has his mission. And

23:07

they really like lay that out at the end

23:09

of the 12 episodes. And like they do a

23:11

good job at saying like, here your

23:13

12 episodes are done. Now you kind of

23:15

know what's going forward for the next 12, which

23:19

again has been out in Japan for a while.

23:22

Yeah. And I'm assuming because

23:24

there are some things in the

23:27

first 12 that they don't answer,

23:29

which I thought like, oh, okay, like this door

23:31

is going to open and we're going to get

23:34

answers here. And that door never opens. And

23:36

so I'm assuming once that door opens, that

23:39

could be literal or figuratively. Once

23:41

that door opens, there

23:44

is probably a third

23:47

overarching task slash goal that

23:49

needs to happen. I

23:51

am curious in the long term of things, because

23:54

I've tried my best in the last

23:56

year to avoid spoilers and like to

23:58

not look at... anime

24:00

Twitter or anime threads or like because people

24:03

get really excited about the Pokemon I get

24:05

it people get super excited they post they're

24:07

like oh my gosh this Pokemon get introduced

24:09

this trainer is here this gym leader is

24:11

here totally get the excitement around it very

24:13

hard as somebody who reports on Pokemon news

24:15

to avoid all of that for the last

24:17

year the question that pops in my head

24:19

is like does Leko and Roy

24:21

and whoever else decides to join them there's

24:24

no way this is a 25 year old 25 year

24:27

old story like is this

24:29

gonna last a year is it's gonna last

24:31

two years are they gonna pick characters is

24:34

are they doing a thing where like

24:37

horizons is gonna represent three

24:39

years of scarlet and vibe yes

24:41

Carlin violet of the game are we

24:44

and then are they gonna switch other

24:46

characters like there's so many questions yeah

24:49

we we were

24:51

used to just ash being this

24:53

filler not like literal

24:55

filler but like ash was always there he

24:57

was just always it was always ash was

24:59

all yeah right so like there wasn't there

25:01

was never any questions it was black

25:04

and white are coming out cool ash is going to

25:06

you Nova X and Y is coming out cool ash

25:08

is going to callows like there was never any doubt

25:11

in people's mind that this was just like

25:14

what was going to happen with the anime yeah

25:17

because like it's I think diamond and pearl

25:19

was for I think it

25:21

was four seasons before ash

25:23

went to a different region because

25:25

I just had to rewatch those can't

25:28

it was it feels like like

25:30

because like the first episode of cancels like 78,000 episodes also if

25:32

we were

25:37

doing the pacing of indigo league

25:40

right because they go from

25:42

canto in horizons they go

25:44

from canto to paldea in

25:46

less than 12 episodes if this was

25:48

if this was indigo league that would

25:50

have been like 48 episodes it takes

25:53

ash so long to get from one

25:55

gym to the other and I guess

25:57

they're on their ship they're not walking

25:59

ash was walk in but

26:01

also like if I think about journeys,

26:05

that almost felt like unrealistic

26:07

pacing. You would start the

26:09

episode and Ash and Go would be like,

26:11

we're going to Hoenn today

26:13

and like their base is out of, well, okay,

26:15

the Hoenn was a bad example. They'd be like,

26:17

we're going to Alola today and their base is

26:20

out of Kanto and then they would

26:22

just be there and at the end of the

26:24

episode, they would be back. Again, they're jet setters.

26:28

They're just all over the place, all

26:30

over the time. My one complaint about

26:32

journeys is how small they made the

26:34

world feel. But

26:36

journeys also to me felt very Scooby-Doo of

26:38

like, we went to this area and now we're back

26:40

at home at the very end. Yeah.

26:43

I mean, it was very much tell

26:47

single stories in the

26:49

entire world instead of

26:51

like one overarching plot.

26:54

Like, Go kind of had

26:56

an overarching plot but they hit

26:58

on it so rarely. It

27:00

was like every fourth episode, it was like, oh,

27:02

go, remember you're doing that thing? Once

27:04

every 10 episodes even. He caught

27:07

a lot of Pokemon every

27:09

episode. He just whipped Pokeballs

27:11

left and right. How many seasons was

27:13

journeys? Was that also four? It

27:16

was three plus the 10 episode

27:18

goodbye thing. So technically four. Yeah,

27:22

technically four. I was looking at this last night.

27:25

I was like, what if I just watch because I

27:27

still never watched the like 10 goodbye episodes for Ash.

27:30

What? You haven't even watched the Sootheen Snow

27:32

yet either and that's even easier to watch.

27:34

I watched all 12 episodes of Horizons last

27:36

night in preparation. I liked

27:38

it. I liked it a lot. I

27:41

liked it so much that I'm like, what if I try

27:43

to find the other English episodes that exist? I

27:46

was like, nah, I'll just wait. Just

27:48

wait. We don't. Just wait till next year when it finally

27:50

comes out on Netflix again. But they didn't even say what

27:53

the schedule is. We're just assuming

27:55

it's every three months because that's what they did

27:57

with journeys. But we have no clue what the

27:59

schedule is. Oh, also, again, I was at New

28:01

York. I did ask, I was like, hey,

28:04

why did this get pushed back? Why did

28:06

this wait so long? And the answer I

28:08

was given was a little generic, but it

28:10

was like Netflix. Netflix.

28:16

Sounds about right. So take that

28:18

for what it's worth. I'm

28:22

not saying it wasn't completely the Pokemon company's

28:24

fault, but it sounded like, yeah,

28:26

Netflix kind of pushed some things

28:28

around. I don't

28:30

know. OK, before we go to

28:33

break, this was off,

28:35

pulled from, this is off Anime Mojo,

28:37

but it was pulled from Variety, but it

28:40

was pulled from Tunando. Doesn't matter. We're just

28:42

doing the quote here. There

28:44

was an interview with Pokemon

28:47

Company International Executives, Andy Gose,

28:50

who is the Senior Director of

28:52

Media Production and Taito Okuyu.

28:56

I can't say their last name, Hannah. Taito

28:59

Okuyuda. There we go. That's

29:03

why we have Hannah on the show. They are the

29:05

Vice President of Marketing for Pokemon. And

29:08

the first quote is, Ash and Pikachu

29:10

have had a fantastic run. They're so

29:12

iconic, and they've been an

29:14

entry point for so many folks into the

29:16

brand over the years. We've gotten

29:19

the multi-generational effect where folks have grown up

29:21

with them, and they're sharing with their kids,

29:23

nephews, and nieces. And quote, a new quote

29:25

here is, we've grown up with

29:27

them, and it feels like there's more to the

29:29

world and more characters to explore. So

29:32

28 years in, it feels

29:35

like why not meet some new folks in the

29:37

world and experience the adventures of Pokemon through

29:39

a different lens? And

29:41

then Senior Director

29:43

of Media Production for the Pokemon

29:45

Company, and then Taito, quotes, Pokemon

29:48

kind of has a mandate. We evolve.

29:50

I'm personally passionate about Ash and Pikachu,

29:52

but that being said, after 28 years

29:54

of Pokemon, has been evolving

29:56

in multiple forms, including the video game, trading

29:58

card game, and other. games now

30:01

there will be a possible opportunity for

30:03

the animation field to evolve. We're very

30:05

excited to have the introduction of

30:07

new protagonists, especially a female protagonist.

30:11

And then they went back to ghosts, goose. And

30:15

then he says, quote, we said farewell, Ash

30:18

is still in the world. Anything

30:20

is possible, I suppose. In the world of

30:22

Pokemon, there are so many possibilities, end quote.

30:25

Finally the final quote here from- Oke-a-dah.

30:27

Yes. We

30:30

hope Ash and Pikachu continue their journey. Their journey

30:32

is going somewhere in the world of Pokemon. It's

30:34

totally up to fans' imaginations. For the time

30:36

being, we would love to focus on the new

30:38

story of Liko and Roy. Horizons

30:41

invites a new beginning. Until

30:43

they need to re-up that copyright and then Ash

30:45

will come screaming back. Until

30:48

anything is possible and Ash shows up for

30:50

an episode. Oh, there's no doubt

30:52

he will. Yeah, for sure. There

30:56

was, gosh, on this show on social

30:58

media of people thinking for a very

31:00

long time that Ash would be like

31:02

Liko's dad or something of the sort.

31:05

You do meet Liko's dad for the record.

31:07

And it's not Ash? Not

31:10

Ash. Are we sure it's not

31:12

Ash in disguise? I

31:14

think, I don't know why people were

31:16

so upset that Ash never aged.

31:19

There's lots of TV shows where characters

31:21

don't age. And then there are

31:23

TV shows where they do age characters and then it's

31:26

not any better. But

31:30

we do meet gym leaders. There

31:34

was a big announcement that Iono would eventually be in

31:36

the anime. I think she is in the anime for

31:38

Japan already. I don't know how many episodes it takes

31:41

for Iono to show up. They made a big deal

31:43

about that. Very hard to avoid that. So we know

31:45

Iono's in the anime at some point. She's

31:47

not in the first 12 episodes. So sorry

31:49

to anyone hoping that she would appear. But

31:52

I think there's like an older gym leader. And

31:54

I feel like I know who that is. I don't

31:56

want to spoil it for anyone. They do see an

31:58

older gym leader. It would

32:00

be very weird where if in your mind

32:02

you're like, well maybe Ash is

32:05

now 20 instead of 10 and Liko is 14.

32:08

If you were to age Ash, you have to age all

32:10

these gym leaders. And then all of a

32:13

sudden, I get that there

32:15

are definitely flashbacks, like we've seen Professor Oak

32:17

when he was 10 years old in the

32:19

Celebi movie. I totally get that. But

32:22

in your Pokemon world, everyone's

32:25

kinda just the same because they all

32:27

just exist and they keep adding more

32:29

characters. Pokemon masters would probably be like,

32:31

yes, give us older, older. Oh

32:34

yeah. We need more pulls

32:36

for these characters. Like

32:39

I guess technically, like everything in,

32:43

somebody's gonna, I know I already can

32:45

see the comments. Like technically, gold

32:47

and silver are two years in the future and

32:50

like technically, like red and

32:52

blue appear at the end of sun and moon and

32:54

they're like slightly older as well. But also

32:57

like all of that got thrown out the window

32:59

with Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire because they're like, ah,

33:02

multiverses. Yeah,

33:05

multiverses exist. I mean,

33:07

so there are some that are direct sequels

33:09

like we know Johto happens after

33:11

Kanto, we know Black and White 2 happened

33:14

after Black and White. Whoa, wait, hold on,

33:16

Black and White 2 happens after Black and

33:18

White? Yeah, it does

33:20

happen. We know

33:23

that Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire happens

33:25

before X and Y. I

33:27

guess we know that technically, the sun

33:29

and moon anime happens before the games

33:32

because they're not trial leaders yet. Like

33:34

there is like some leeway. They have

33:36

a wild timeline that I don't think

33:39

anybody's paying any attention to. But Ash,

33:41

Ash, some people are paying attention to

33:43

it. But Ash being somebody there at

33:45

the company really throws off

33:47

a lot. Yeah. I

33:50

totally get why they wouldn't also bring Ash back

33:52

in like the first year or two because they

33:54

don't want to take away from these new characters.

33:56

Eh, I mean. This is

33:58

a 30th anniversary thing. Like,

34:00

let's- like, Ash-

34:03

there's no way Ash is not making

34:05

an appearance in the 30th anniversary year.

34:08

That is like, the most easily

34:11

predictable thing I think we can make

34:13

on this show, is that the 30th

34:16

anniversary, Ash and Pikachu are coming back.

34:18

They're gonna be a banner and masters again, so you

34:20

have to wait a number of years for that.

34:22

They're gonna show up in a bunch of different games,

34:24

like Ash is coming back for the 30th. Be

34:27

real. Uh, speaking of Pikachu, I know we said we were

34:29

gonna take a break. We didn't talk about Fried and Pikachu

34:31

at all, which I think are

34:33

my two favorite characters, and

34:35

I think they did a really,

34:38

really good job at making Captain

34:40

Pikachu different than Ash's Pikachu.

34:42

Yeah. They're totally

34:44

different characters. He punches

34:46

instead of bolts. What else?

34:49

That's it. Thunder punches. He punches instead of

34:51

bolts. There's just

34:53

something about Captain Pikachu

34:56

that they just did such a good job.

34:59

Obviously Pikachu can only say Pikachu. But

35:01

even with- But with a different voice. With

35:04

his limited vocabulary, there's

35:07

just something about him, like the confidence,

35:09

the, like the captain-ness

35:11

of Captain Pikachu that they did

35:14

such a good

35:16

job with. Take it over

35:18

how he's just called Cap all

35:20

the time. As someone who did watch a

35:22

bunch of Marvel movies, and my only, my

35:25

only mental image of anything being

35:27

called Cap is Captain America, now

35:30

it's Pikachu. There you go. Move

35:33

over, Marvel. Yep. There's

35:35

a new sheriff in town.

35:41

Vote Captain in town. Okay.

35:44

So hopefully, hopefully we, I

35:46

don't know, I feel like it, I feel like either

35:49

people started Horizons because they were excited this past weekend

35:51

or they just don't care. Maybe

35:53

if you didn't care the last 40 minutes,

35:55

maybe convinced you to start? I think it's

35:57

cool. I don't know. I liked it a

35:59

lot, so. We'll take

36:01

a break. When we come back, we

36:03

got some more Pokemon news, so we

36:06

38:16

you enjoy the rest of this episode. And

38:22

we are back from our break.

38:25

If you're listening to this right

38:27

now, uh, the- on

38:29

Monday, the seven star blastoise

38:31

are still active until Tuesday

38:35

evening afternoon? I don't know. Does it

38:37

go forward or backwards at daylight savings

38:39

time? How does this mess

38:41

up the ring? Bring forward, fall

38:44

back. We sprung forward, hopefully for

38:46

the last time ever. Please just

38:48

end this daylight savings time nightmare.

38:50

It is the worst at a

38:52

debt. It never made sense. It

38:54

doesn't make sense now. It's just

38:56

dumb. Blastoise should leave at 7

38:58

p.m. then? Central time?

39:01

If Venus are left at 6. I think

39:04

so. I think that's what it

39:06

was before the time change. If you are

39:08

confused about time change right now and you

39:10

have not done blastoise, pull over in your

39:12

car, connect your phone to a fire up,

39:15

switch, make a

39:17

hotspot, and do blastoise as soon

39:19

as possible. I did make

39:22

a guide on blastoise and

39:24

there's Pokemon that you can use for blastoise. If you

39:26

need help, the discord can help

39:28

you. The slack can help you if you're in either of

39:30

those. But then Charizard will

39:32

go in rotation on Tuesday evening and that

39:34

will only last till Sunday. So Charizard will

39:37

not be a full week. It will- it

39:39

will five days, I think, Tuesday to

39:41

Sunday is five days. This is the first time they're repeating

39:44

a seven star raid. We have no

39:46

clue if Charizard is going to

39:48

be exactly the same. I think the website kind

39:50

of says it's going to be the same but

39:53

they could activate the shield a little bit

39:55

earlier because they wouldn't- they wouldn't say

39:57

that anyway. If

40:01

you're basing it off the the same like move

40:03

set and stuff I'm

40:05

gonna actually have like I think four or

40:07

five new Pokemon I'm not sure if

40:09

this video goes up that my Charizard guide will

40:12

be out But there's better poke better Pokemon have

40:14

exist exist now like there's still some good ones

40:16

But like we know the power of

40:18

acid spray we have a Pokemon Called

40:21

el creme who is very good here that

40:23

can decorate and just make the raids go

40:25

much much faster If it is exactly the

40:27

same so I'll have those

40:29

Pokemon put up and if you miss Charizard

40:31

for the first time Which I think is a lot of

40:33

people remember that you had to like you

40:35

had to beat the game You had to

40:37

unlock six our raids you had

40:40

to do a lot in what like

40:42

two weeks of that game coming out

40:44

in order to like Challenge Charizard that

40:46

was all before Christmas and we've had

40:48

two Christmases with this game now So

40:51

I think a lot of people because it came out

40:53

in November. That was Christmas than the DLC That

40:56

was Christmas. Yes, a

40:58

lot of people get games for Christmas. I'm

41:00

assuming a lot of people miss Charizard and And

41:04

even though they said the raid is going to be exactly the

41:07

same Is it gonna drop

41:09

urban mystical cuz that's not exactly the same Like

41:12

changing the whole entire loot table is not

41:14

the same So that's why I'm like it'll

41:16

probably be mostly the same but I can see

41:18

them changing the loot table and maybe how the

41:21

shield works and maybe they they they

41:23

remove because he is like Tera

41:25

blast and Dragon pulse and they literally do

41:28

the same damage. They do the same thing

41:30

There's no reason for him to have both

41:32

Charizard is one of the very few Pokemon

41:34

that had eight moves But it didn't really

41:36

benefit. He has also like three fire moves

41:38

I think he has like inferno overheat and

41:41

flamethrower and they kind of stopped like doing

41:43

that You could tell over

41:45

the the last year. They've like gotten

41:47

better gotten better at like how to

41:50

Build the seven star Pokemon Charizard. They're like,

41:52

let's give them as many moves as possible We'll

41:56

figure it out. I'll

41:58

be helping with Charizard if you need Charizard If you've

42:00

already caught a Charizard, you cannot catch another.

42:03

But again, if it's the Urban Mystica thing and

42:07

everyone's using Fairy Pokemon, Charizard might

42:09

be the best way to get

42:11

Urban Mystica because

42:13

Venusaur did the really annoying thing of increasing

42:16

its special defense. Blastoise

42:18

did the very annoying thing of increasing

42:20

its physical defense and Charizard

42:22

didn't have... Well, Charizard increases

42:24

its attack with Sunny Day because of

42:26

its ability's solar

42:29

power, so that can be

42:31

annoying for sure. Was Charizard why

42:33

I did the Dashbund? Yes.

42:35

Yep. A lot of people did

42:38

Dashbund. And that was like everyone put ability shields on

42:40

their Pokemon because they thought that mattered but it only

42:42

matters for one turn. You

42:45

could just heal cheer or defense cheer that turn and you'd be

42:47

fine. We've learned a lot

42:49

from 7-star raids in the past year

42:52

and four months. So

42:54

yeah, Charizard should be Tuesday night. This

42:57

is just your warning call to do your Blastoise

42:59

because we have no clue when Blastoise and Venusaur

43:02

if they're ever going to come back. Some

43:05

more Scarlet and Violet news. Toyota,

43:08

the real small Japanese company.

43:14

Hey, they made a real life

43:16

Maraidon motorcycle. Yeah.

43:20

I'm willing to risk my life in

43:23

a vehicle that has a 100% accident

43:25

rate just to be cool.

43:28

Members of the Toyota Engineering Society,

43:31

an organization of Toyota employees created

43:34

to enhance their technical skills and talents

43:36

of its members decided to take on

43:38

the crazy task of bringing

43:40

a rideable Maraidon into the real world. As you

43:42

can see of these images, we'll have this in

43:44

our show notes. This is off going, Nintendo.

43:47

They've already cooked up a pretty impressive prototype.

43:51

Obviously, this is not production that

43:53

Toyota will mass produce. It is

43:55

a project for the Toyota Engineering

43:58

Society. Definitely

44:00

a real life Mariah Donne motorcycle.

44:04

It looks neat. I don't really

44:06

understand how the wheels work, but it

44:08

looks cool. I don't know how the wheels are

44:11

structured either. I think it

44:13

would be more impressive when we saw it driving, but we've

44:15

only just seen it. Yeah, we've only

44:17

seen the still shots of it. Yeah.

44:20

The eyes light up though. Yeah,

44:22

it looks cool. Hopefully we get more of this because

44:24

I just think this is really neat. Also,

44:26

they don't say nor could I

44:29

find how much involvement

44:31

the Pokemon Company had. If

44:33

any. There's been no mention of that. Did

44:37

they just start building it? Did they

44:40

were like, hey Pokemon, we want to

44:42

do this? They don't

44:44

need their permission obviously to just build

44:46

something. They're not selling it. Right, because they're

44:48

not selling it. Were

44:50

they like, hey, do you have any schematics

44:53

we can copy to build this real life?

44:57

How long would you say Mariah Donne's

44:59

antennas are? We want to make sure

45:01

we get them perfect. I think the

45:03

models are out there. That's how Power

45:05

World... Yeah,

45:08

the models are out there. Do they think?

45:13

Okay, two more bits of news

45:15

here. They kind of related

45:17

I guess if you like real

45:19

world events. The first one is

45:21

from Business Journal, the San Francisco

45:24

Business Times, bizjournal.com.

45:28

The San Francisco will host the Pokemon

45:30

World Championship for the first time since

45:32

2026. San

45:35

Francisco's largest event

45:37

venue for the city conventions, the Moscone?

45:42

I don't know how to say that. The Moscone

45:44

Center has recently been selected

45:46

to host the Pokemon World Championships in 2026.

45:51

I want to say that again. 2026, not next year,

45:53

which would be 2025. They

45:57

also say that they're doing some large tech

45:59

conferences. they're doing a Super Bowl party

46:01

for 40

46:06

I don't know what L is. I thought L was

46:08

50. Oh yeah wait yeah cuz Super Bowl

46:11

is like way way down there. Yeah X

46:13

is 10 so Super Bowl 60 Yeah

46:17

Yep, 60. Yeah anytime I think of

46:19

like the numbers I think WrestleMania cuz that's the thing

46:21

I actually watch and I think WrestleMania is like at

46:23

40 Super

46:26

Bowls that like six that's a lot anyways a lot.

46:29

There's a lot to unpack here number one

46:31

I don't think the Pokemon

46:33

company is very happy about them revealing the

46:35

2026 venue That's

46:39

crazy. No absolutely

46:42

insane that Just

46:44

like some casual conversation with a reporter

46:46

of like hey, which events are you

46:48

hosting and they're like, oh boy We

46:51

got that Pokemon thing coming in 2026. I

46:54

don't think that was supposed to happen. I I Pokemon

46:59

company has said nothing about this

47:01

which is probably like any sort

47:03

of like yeah, it's probably true

47:06

But why also why would they lie about that? Well,

47:09

I would have come that in this

47:12

heavy Also, we

47:14

know how far in advance they make

47:16

these contracts. Yeah, that's okay. That's

47:18

the news I wanted to talk about yes, I

47:21

totally understand why people are mad about Hawaii Totally

47:23

get it 100% we don't need

47:25

to have this conversation for the fifth time, but they

47:27

would have had to book Hawaii who

47:30

plus years before they announced it

47:33

and it just happened like there were there was

47:35

fires and everything and that's very unfortunate but like

47:38

I Think that every day normal. I

47:40

want to complain on Twitter person does

47:43

not realize you just don't like Casually

47:45

walk into a venue and be like

47:47

hey you guys free in six months

47:53

Could you can you hold host

47:55

this I mean if you've

47:57

ever planned a wedding, you know

48:00

that for that you're

48:02

at least almost always a

48:04

year out. And this

48:06

is a lot bigger than a wedding. Like

48:09

you can sometimes do a

48:11

wedding in a

48:13

shorter amount of time, but generally like

48:16

standard wedding venues book up a

48:18

year in advance. So there's no

48:21

way you're doing an

48:23

entire convention. Yeah, I

48:25

mean, the fires aren't the only thing

48:28

to talk about with them hosting an event. But

48:31

clearly they plan this stuff out ahead

48:34

of time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Hawaii

48:36

conversation is a very big conversation, but

48:38

it was not like the

48:40

last one ended and they quickly spun

48:42

around and said, Hawaii get there.

48:45

Right, right, right, right. Yeah, that's just the point we're

48:47

making. It's not like they got up on stage and

48:49

was like, we

48:51

pick Hawaii? Hawaii? Hawaii.

48:53

Hawaii. Hawaii. Hawaii.

48:56

Hawaii. Hawaii. Big events

48:58

take a lot of planning. I mean, the Olympics

49:00

doesn't happen in a year. Especially the 30th anniversary

49:02

world. Yeah. Since that's what we're

49:04

talking about here. So the other

49:07

news from this, if

49:09

they're coming to San Francisco in 2026, which

49:13

I wasn't excited about Hawaii, I'm

49:16

also not excited about San Francisco. Let me

49:18

just be very clear here. They

49:22

picked a place for 2025. We

49:25

have no clue where it is. So

49:27

is it going to be America three

49:29

years in a row? Although unfortunately

49:32

for, say what you will about

49:34

Hawaii, it's all out there,

49:37

but it's also just not convenient for

49:39

most Americans to go to. Like

49:41

I feel like in a scale of like, I

49:44

don't know, it cost me like $400 to fly to Florida. It

49:48

cost me $300 to fly to New York. Cost

49:50

me $500 to fly to LA. Hawaii

49:53

is just expensive. Unless

49:57

you've got like a killer deal, like Hawaii

49:59

is always... feel like closer to a thousand

50:01

dollars to fly to which is oh yeah

50:04

outside of budgets for people I

50:07

I'm just like when

50:09

you say like Ella or when you say San

50:12

Francisco 2026 I'm like I bet

50:14

2025 is gonna be really good it's

50:16

probably not gonna be United States but I

50:19

bet cool like what country are

50:21

you picking like are you gonna go back to

50:23

Japan prop probably not are you

50:25

gonna go to Spain because

50:28

they solved their issues with Spain there was like a

50:30

there's a long time where like they

50:32

didn't want to go to Spain because they had

50:34

some weird rules about prizes that was that was

50:36

the big holdup but oh yeah Spain has really

50:38

weird rules when it comes to tournament pricing but

50:40

I think they sorted that all out since there

50:43

was obviously a tournament in Spain also

50:46

leads into our Pokemon

50:48

go news where they

50:51

pick in Spain again for something so

50:53

we'll get to that in a second here's

50:56

my big problem with San

50:58

Francisco and this this can

51:01

happen in most cities but like

51:03

the the recent I and again I don't know

51:05

how bad it is it could be that the

51:07

media has like overblown the the

51:10

problem is that the smash and grabs

51:12

in San Francisco is like much higher

51:15

than any other city so what happens

51:17

is you fly in and if you get a

51:20

rental car and you're like slowly leaving out and

51:22

you like stop to get gas or stop to

51:24

get snacks or or whatnot like people

51:26

will smash the back of your window and pull your

51:28

luggage because they know you're coming just from the airport

51:31

the advice is always like when

51:33

you get out of San Francisco directly go directly

51:36

to your hotel before you make any stop any

51:38

errand drop off your stuff and

51:40

this is not like

51:43

this can happen in any city maybe

51:45

any American city I should say but

51:50

but the the side note of like

51:52

a Pokemon tournament is every time I

51:54

go to a world or anytime

51:56

I go to the big a big event they

51:58

Pokemon event you we always report

52:01

on somebody's binder was stolen.

52:04

And if I just think of thousands

52:06

of Pokemon fans flying into San

52:08

Francisco, even if the media is

52:11

overblowing the smash and grab stuff, there

52:13

will for sure be somebody's Pokemon

52:16

cards getting stolen while

52:18

they leave the airport. Hands down. That's,

52:21

that's, that's going to happen. And

52:24

unlike stealing a bunch of somebody's

52:26

clothes from the

52:28

back of their trunk, Pokemon

52:32

cards are worth a

52:34

lot. They're, they're a lot harder to

52:36

replace than, Hey, you just stole five shirts,

52:38

five pairs of pants in my underwear. Like

52:41

that would, that sucks. That a hundred percent sucks.

52:44

But that's much, much easier to replace

52:46

than like five binders of cards

52:48

or your, your deck for a tournament or

52:50

what you plan to trade or buy or

52:53

sell. Like they spiked. Smash

52:56

and grab incidents in San Francisco has been dropping.

52:58

Uh, they put in a bunch of stuff.

53:01

It's dropped significantly over 2023. It

53:04

is expected to continue to drop as they put

53:06

more into that. There are,

53:09

there are other issues around. I mean, I like

53:11

San Francisco as a city. I'm probably going to

53:13

go simply because I have a ton of friends

53:15

there, but San Francisco is really

53:18

also expensive for an American

53:20

city. It is a

53:22

limited place. Like a

53:25

lot of San Francisco was just built

53:27

to try to make more land, uh,

53:30

which is why earthquakes are really bad there.

53:32

Um, it's very expensive.

53:36

The one good thing I will say about San

53:38

Francisco is you don't really need a car. Their

53:40

public transportation system is really great. The cable car

53:43

system is really great. It's

53:45

a beautiful city. Uh, it

53:47

has like a lot

53:49

of California areas, a large

53:51

homeless problem. So There's

53:53

a lot of positives and negatives around.

53:56

San Francisco. I Think one of the

53:58

biggest concerns that people should. The

54:00

about his San Francisco is

54:02

expensive. It. Is one

54:04

of the more expensive cities. In

54:07

the United States everything costs

54:09

a lot. There. That.

54:12

Sad I finally have risen Go back

54:14

to San Francisco to visit all my

54:16

friends. So I am excited for San

54:18

Francisco because it gives me a good

54:20

reason to just take a trip there

54:23

since I use our family there and

54:25

they are no longer there. Big.

54:27

Have taken trips greg. I.

54:31

Was. Shocked. That.

54:33

You booked a trip to New York

54:35

for Pokemon. Go Fast! Why?

54:39

Is your life? Oh come on, guess. Now,

54:42

but I like New York. I'm

54:45

still deciding if I'm gonna buy a ticket

54:47

to go see a show because I'm in

54:49

New York and I'm been of my wanna

54:51

he a show for sure! But.

54:54

You you buy it, you bought your go. Take it though. I

54:56

bought my ticket I bought of under hotels

54:59

and dad isn't an area that I like.

55:01

that was a decent price so I got

55:03

a hotel room where you say madame. Ah

55:06

yeah, it's. Close.

55:08

To Empire State. In

55:11

that area, it's on one of the

55:13

Central lines. Yeah. Would want anything

55:15

off Green to the think Green gets you

55:18

close the door handles. Yeah, I think I'm

55:20

on the green line I think. Also. A

55:23

hassle ice. As

55:25

a lot of my initial

55:27

New York neighborhood, the. Thoughts

55:30

are from when I went there in

55:32

the eighties. And. It's a very very

55:34

different city. I went back and twenty ten so

55:36

I know, but my friends lived in Brooklyn than

55:39

so send a lot of time in Brooklyn the

55:41

not in the city proper. So

55:44

I looked at areas or like I

55:46

don't think my memories of the eighties

55:48

apply to. This is probably not. Ah

55:50

is a very different city, but yes

55:52

I have that. I haven't bought a

55:54

flight yet because his. Way

55:56

early for flights for me. I'm

55:58

giving it time. because I

56:01

looked at a lot of the flights and like

56:03

even half of the airlines that I know fly

56:05

to New York haven't even posted flights.

56:10

But I did buy a ticket. I did buy

56:12

a ticket to go to the park Friday morning

56:14

and then I

56:16

added City Day on Saturday and

56:18

then I have

56:20

a bunch of people I know in

56:23

New York so I didn't want to

56:25

pay for Sunday and

56:27

be like, well, I'm seeing all these people. So

56:30

I never gonna use this thing. So I

56:32

just also I can guarantee you by the

56:34

end of Saturday, I will be over it.

56:38

I will be done. Okay,

56:42

so they announced Pokemon Go Fest.

56:45

They announced for three locations. The first

56:48

one, well, I guess we'll work backwards.

56:50

New York City, again, this

56:52

was like not a surprise when the mayor

56:54

of New York City like sat there and

56:56

like raved about this in like a press

56:59

conference and was like, we can't wait to

57:01

have them back. It was like, oh, okay.

57:05

Got it. Okay. Word.

57:08

Yeah. Got it. You definitely want

57:10

this to happen again. Perfect.

57:14

So that will be July 5th through 7th. The

57:17

7th is technically the anniversary,

57:20

right? I think. Right?

57:23

July 7th is the anniversary of Pokemon Go. Yeah. This

57:27

is the I'm just gonna get this out of the way. Out

57:30

of the one big the biggest complaint I

57:32

saw out of every the biggest announcement here

57:34

was like, why did they pick 4th of

57:37

July weekend? And I can

57:39

answer this very easily. You

57:41

pick the weekend the city gives you. That's

57:44

it. I have talked to Niantic a bunch of times about this.

57:47

It's like that was a big concern last year of

57:49

like, why is London and

57:51

Osaka the same weekend?

57:53

Niantic's answer was that

57:56

was the weekend we were allowed to do it.

57:59

I Even remember being in Osaka it

58:01

it was a hundred and eleven degrees.

58:03

Fahrenheit. Freedom units. it was

58:05

hot I was I have never seen

58:07

beads of sweat leave my watch band.

58:09

I was like I've never my rip

58:11

My wrist is sweating right now. That's

58:13

never happened before. it is so hot

58:16

out and have a there were people

58:18

my twitch have been like they should

58:20

just delay it till next week. Would.

58:23

It would. You

58:27

seek. The Seventy Six Expo Center. This

58:29

has nothing going on next weekend and

58:31

I am big like a every. One

58:33

we paid this week and we're gonna pay you

58:35

again. Does come back next weekend in an empty

58:37

park that clearly has that. That's not how it

58:40

works. Back here

58:42

they're just sit only take a week. Since.

58:44

This city of everything up. ignore

58:47

the next week of events. That

58:50

how the world works. So like I get

58:52

it is a holiday weekend. That.

58:54

That's it. That's what it comes down to is

58:57

like Randall Park was like this is the weekend

58:59

you can do and ninety was like okay. I

59:02

thought is that says he's injured. It's

59:04

is. Sometimes. Go traveling a

59:06

holidays deeper. Than ah,

59:08

my fourth of July price was

59:10

way cheaper than my age. July.

59:13

Third price and my July fifth

59:16

price. So who? yeah? I'll just

59:18

check that. Out

59:20

a know. I feel I have. Maybe

59:23

because I'm old? You're. On the

59:25

it's okay if you miss a Fourth of July

59:27

barbecue. it's fast. It's

59:30

success of miss your for

59:32

the July barbecue province l

59:34

what were you not that

59:36

supports you. That.

59:39

As than miss, go fast that around. go to one of the

59:41

other go that. Yeah, On June fourteenth

59:43

or June sixteenth as in Madrid,

59:46

Spain. As

59:48

Madrid dangerous city. What's.

59:50

What's the bad? Spain's it is. isn't

59:52

Spain the pickpocketing country? his i with

59:54

the was media tell us. Where.

59:57

We going to find that. He

59:59

needs and. listen to weird media.

1:00:01

Yeah. Get off. Get off. No, no.

1:00:03

I, okay, I for sure, I for

1:00:06

sure know that like there's Seville, there's

1:00:08

Madrid, there's Barcelona, these are all Spain,

1:00:11

and one of them is better than the other. I mean,

1:00:14

as far as I know, Madrid

1:00:17

is fine. It's no different

1:00:19

than any other city.

1:00:22

I have not heard anything like you'll

1:00:25

die in Madrid or any of

1:00:27

those. Yeah, it was fine. Oh,

1:00:30

you've been Hannah. For

1:00:32

a day. Yes.

1:00:34

Okay. In 2019. It was

1:00:36

not very much time spent

1:00:39

there. Mostly that was a few

1:00:41

days in Spain where the

1:00:43

most eventful thing was my family going to the southern

1:00:45

tip of Spain to get trophies. Madrid

1:00:47

is the capital of Spain, right? Yeah, yeah,

1:00:49

yeah. I just remember when I

1:00:51

was booking for Seville, people

1:00:54

were like, oh, it sucks that it's

1:00:56

like not near Barcelona or Madrid. And I

1:00:59

was like, oh, I mean, those

1:01:02

are bigger cities for sure than Seville.

1:01:04

I can't remember. I

1:01:06

have to like, I booked, Niantic

1:01:09

did not pay for me. Just disclosure.

1:01:11

Maybe they will. Hopefully they will. Actually,

1:01:13

please, Niantic, pay for

1:01:15

one of those. If you want to pay

1:01:17

for my trip to New York, I'm into

1:01:19

it. Yeah, I'll try to get everyone in.

1:01:22

I did pay for my flight for Madrid

1:01:25

and I did pay for my flight for New York and

1:01:28

Japan. I don't want to

1:01:30

do the American thing of not knowing anything because I've never been

1:01:32

to Spain. So I have to look

1:01:34

that up. I have to look up cultures and stuff, but

1:01:36

I'm pretty sure in Spain, their dinner is super late and

1:01:40

everything and they're not big breakfast people.

1:01:43

So like nothing's open really early. So

1:01:45

I got

1:01:47

to do all that. They nap kind of thing.

1:01:49

Yeah. I want to

1:01:51

be educated before I go. They

1:01:55

are aware that tourists come

1:01:57

to the capital of Spain.

1:01:59

So they're... There will be I'm

1:02:01

saying is to deal with tourists cause

1:02:03

they do No other worlds people in

1:02:05

the world exists as come to the

1:02:07

capital space enough request for awhile but

1:02:09

also the late night. Vibes

1:02:11

are kind a nice. Their. Yeah, I know that

1:02:13

on that for a long ways to that sounds awesome.

1:02:16

That's what I'm very into a late night vibe. And

1:02:19

then they announced Sendai ah Japan,

1:02:22

which is May thirtieth or June.

1:02:24

Second, Though. All. Of

1:02:27

these events are dramatically. Earlier

1:02:29

than last. Go fast! Yeah they are

1:02:32

and very spread out and spread out

1:02:34

which is nice. Which. Is probably

1:02:36

also nice for an eye antics team because again

1:02:38

going back to the like wise of sock sock

1:02:40

on London the same weekend and the answer was

1:02:42

the these are the weekends we were allowed to

1:02:44

do. That. Probably really sucked for them to

1:02:46

be like okay, half our team media in London and

1:02:48

half our team needs to be in Japan. And.

1:02:51

We need to like hope we have no

1:02:53

problems on either end, which I think both

1:02:55

of those events one actually relatively smoothly. Sendai.

1:02:59

It is northern Japan, so I believe

1:03:01

it's an hour north of Tokyo. Send

1:03:04

I have an airport I'm going to

1:03:06

tell you right now. Don't.

1:03:08

Fly into that airport one. From

1:03:11

M S P to send I, they had

1:03:13

one flight every three weeks to send I

1:03:15

and it was my son's expensive a flying

1:03:18

in Tokyo. Ah, So.

1:03:20

You're probably going to and applying and

1:03:22

or Tokyo's airports. If. You're

1:03:24

going. Arm and you will

1:03:26

have to take the shinkansen. Up

1:03:29

to that, Which

1:03:32

thou those? Prices also went up

1:03:34

recently, which is unfortunate. Yeah.

1:03:36

I'm not a are pass. isn't as

1:03:38

worth it anymore? Yeah, You'll. Have

1:03:41

to make a trip up there. I'm pretty sure send I

1:03:43

just had like a big earthquake like. Two.

1:03:45

Years ago. Or

1:03:48

three. Years ago I can't remember.

1:03:51

But. I've been told it's very nice up there. And.

1:03:53

It is close to the sand see.

1:03:57

Hokey! Lives. And.

1:03:59

Send eyes. Pokemon is Lapras, so that makes

1:04:01

sense why Lapras is one of the featured

1:04:03

Pokemon there. Yeah,

1:04:05

is that the region with

1:04:08

the chancy Pokemon park? Yes, I think

1:04:10

the chancy Pokemon park is near

1:04:12

Sendai. It

1:04:15

looks like there might actually be four of them, so

1:04:17

yeah, those are all in Fukushima, all

1:04:20

pretty close by to Sendai. Yeah. Nice.

1:04:23

Sendai also has four days instead of three

1:04:25

days, which is Madrid and New York. So

1:04:27

the presale is done for Japan. They sold

1:04:30

out all four days. They

1:04:32

sold out Saturday, sold out within

1:04:34

the first hour of the announcement.

1:04:37

That's why I was suggesting that people get the ticket

1:04:39

even if they're not 100% sure, because

1:04:43

that's the part that's going to sell out. Yeah, Japan will

1:04:45

100%. So

1:04:47

yeah. But

1:04:50

there should be more tickets. This was

1:04:52

just technically presale. So, but

1:04:56

you know, a presale sold out in an hour. You're

1:05:00

in trouble. Then there

1:05:02

will be a two-day online event for trainers

1:05:04

around the world. You can buy the global

1:05:06

ticket now. The worldwide would

1:05:08

be July 13th through the 14th, and that is $15. And

1:05:17

the Pokemon they are featuring is Marshadow.

1:05:20

Which, okay, that

1:05:22

was why I'm definitely... Marshadow

1:05:25

is my favorite. So I was

1:05:27

like, this is

1:05:29

all more reason why I'm going to go do this. I

1:05:32

love Marshadow a lot. So

1:05:36

I was like 1,000%. Yeah, I

1:05:38

mean. Uh,

1:05:41

trainers will only encounter Marshadow once, no matter

1:05:43

how many Pokemon Go Fest they go to.

1:05:46

That is unfortunate. So

1:05:49

if you are going to... Look,

1:05:52

I get it. I'm insane. I'm going to

1:05:55

all three. But I think if you were spending the

1:05:57

money to go to New York, and

1:05:59

then you... were like, oh should I get the $15 ticket?

1:06:02

Like you wouldn't get another Marshadow so you could

1:06:04

maybe slip skip the global. If

1:06:07

the global is the one with the shiny Jengmo. Don't

1:06:10

fall for it Hannah, don't fall for it,

1:06:12

that's a community day Pokemon. You skip it,

1:06:15

but do not fall for it. Do

1:06:17

not fall for it. Do

1:06:19

not fall for the Jengmo bait.

1:06:22

Don't do it. Don't, don't do

1:06:24

it. Don't do it. The

1:06:27

only reason I got a shiny Goomy last

1:06:29

year, which Goomy should be a community day

1:06:31

this year, should be right. Like

1:06:33

that should be the June community day or whatever.

1:06:35

The only reason I got one is

1:06:37

just because I just happened to hatch one. That was

1:06:39

it. I wasn't trying for it. I hatched

1:06:42

like 10 eggs that day. One happened

1:06:44

to be Goomy, but I didn't do

1:06:46

a single Goomy raid. I didn't fall

1:06:48

for that. They've been pulling that

1:06:50

trick for like four years. They

1:06:52

have been. Yeah, there

1:06:55

are. There will be

1:06:57

a Jengmo community day. There will

1:06:59

be. Next year. And you'll get 14

1:07:02

in one day and you'll be like, this

1:07:04

is enough. What am I gonna do with

1:07:07

them all? I would be

1:07:09

happy to have all the shiny Jengmo. So

1:07:11

because I got three in Scarlet and Violet, so

1:07:13

I'm, I'm, I'm solid. So

1:07:16

I want to be very clear here because this, this

1:07:18

Go Fest is sun and moon themed

1:07:20

with the marshadow with the Pikachu wearing

1:07:23

the sun crown or Pikachu wearing the

1:07:25

moon crown. That, that

1:07:27

means we're getting Ultra Sun

1:07:30

2 Ultra Moon 2 confirmed.

1:07:32

That's what I've been working

1:07:34

on. Look at these patterns.

1:07:37

Clear as day. You all

1:07:39

thought Johto, you all thought you

1:07:41

know, but this was the sign

1:07:43

right here that they're skipping it

1:07:45

all. Pokemon Legends Sivala.

1:07:52

By Elka. Yeah.

1:07:57

Wind all the way down. Every part of that's a wind. So

1:08:00

they are doing two new Pikachus, one with

1:08:02

the Sun Crown, one with the Moon Crown,

1:08:04

they're doing Eevees as well. Eevee

1:08:07

with the Moon Crown, Eevee with the Sun

1:08:09

Crown. I think the Eevees are only for

1:08:11

the in-person Go Fest.

1:08:13

I don't think they're for worldwide. Each

1:08:16

Go Fest will have a featured Pokemon, so

1:08:20

Sendai will have not

1:08:22

Crabrawler or Ducklet off

1:08:25

the top of my head. I

1:08:27

can't remember which Pokemon Sendai has, but Spain

1:08:30

will have Crabrawler as their featured

1:08:32

Shiny, and then New York will

1:08:35

have Ducklet as its featured Shiny.

1:08:37

And then the regional Pokemon

1:08:39

that will appear at all three will

1:08:42

be Clefky, which, sorry

1:08:45

to anyone who had a layover in France,

1:08:47

your Clefky value has gone down. Has

1:08:50

plummeted. Good for me though, good for

1:08:52

me though, because I stocked up on

1:08:54

the Bufillant, and Bufillant

1:08:56

economy is still good. So

1:08:58

when I go to Japan,

1:09:00

I will be the talk

1:09:02

of the town. Bufillant, still

1:09:04

very good. Hawlucha is

1:09:06

still good, Hawlucha is still very good

1:09:09

for that. Sigilith,

1:09:13

I think Sigilith is still pretty good, except for not

1:09:15

for Japan. But Sigilith is slightly less, because it

1:09:18

was in the events last year. But Hawlucha

1:09:20

and Comfei, I think, are still two of

1:09:22

the very rare ones. Right, but if you're going

1:09:24

to worlds in Hawaii, you don't

1:09:26

have to worry about Comfei. True. Yeah,

1:09:29

there's a lot of news here. They

1:09:31

announced this earlier, they announced dates, they did

1:09:33

their announcement for the announcement, but that was

1:09:35

only like, what, 48 hours ahead of time.

1:09:38

This was great. I feel

1:09:40

like Niantic in the

1:09:42

last couple months have been, I

1:09:45

don't know what changed there, but they've been

1:09:47

pushing all these quality of life improvements. They're

1:09:50

announcing things earlier. That

1:09:53

things are spread out. And

1:10:02

now they're going to flood it with the things that

1:10:04

they would have normally dripped out to make the life

1:10:06

seem longer, to make everybody forget that they laid off

1:10:08

253 people. We're

1:10:14

going to keep calling them out for that, but also

1:10:16

the quality of life updates are really nice. Yeah,

1:10:18

they are good. Yeah, I think everyone

1:10:20

has the heal all now, right? Yeah,

1:10:23

I got that. I think I

1:10:25

got the heal all. Those

1:10:28

came out at the same time. Everybody also has

1:10:30

the little button that shows up when you're friendship

1:10:32

leveling up with someone, asking if you want

1:10:34

to turn on a lucky egg to get the

1:10:36

eggplant. Yeah, that one just rolled out too.

1:10:38

Which is absolutely fantastic. Who

1:10:41

did I send? Yeah, there's... I

1:10:44

guess as we get closer to the Global

1:10:47

Go Fest, we could... There'll

1:10:49

be more details and stuff out there.

1:10:53

If you are on the fence of going, I

1:10:55

believe I'm like 98%

1:10:58

sure of this, if you buy your ticket,

1:11:01

you can do the add-ons later. I know

1:11:03

when they first did add-ons, you couldn't do

1:11:05

the add-ons later. So if you're listening

1:11:08

to this podcast, if you're thinking about going to New York or

1:11:10

Sendai or Madrid, buy

1:11:12

the day you would prefer to play.

1:11:16

My suggestion is always buy morning because

1:11:19

morning is much cooler than afternoons. And

1:11:24

people are more energetic. The employees

1:11:26

are more energetic because they haven't been there all day

1:11:28

yet. I

1:11:32

think most of our communities are doing

1:11:34

New York either Friday or Saturday morning.

1:11:37

I think they're split. It was really... I

1:11:39

mean, there's just split because some people still have

1:11:41

jobs and they can't do Friday. If

1:11:43

you're picking between the two, Friday morning or Saturday morning,

1:11:45

if you want to play with people. But

1:11:48

again, if you're on the fence, if you haven't booked a hotel,

1:11:50

if you haven't booked a flight, just buy

1:11:52

your ticket. Just

1:11:55

buy like Saturday morning for whatever it is,

1:11:57

like 20 bucks. If you can't go, that

1:11:59

sucks. But it's way... better than like so

1:12:01

many people in LA were like, I

1:12:04

was gonna buy a ticket and sold out. And like, they

1:12:06

lived in LA. They

1:12:08

like, who didn't go? I

1:12:11

don't know if I'm gonna be able to make the flight work. I'm

1:12:13

not completely settled on even

1:12:15

housing stuff, just trying to figure that

1:12:18

out. But I got my ticket for

1:12:20

Saturday morning and we'll see. And

1:12:23

last year I bought the add-ons day

1:12:25

of. The event had already started for

1:12:27

that day and I bought the City

1:12:29

Pass for that day and it was fine.

1:12:31

So the only thing would be the t-shirt. You

1:12:34

can add things on. Hotel and

1:12:36

flights fluctuate a lot. Also

1:12:39

they drip feed information

1:12:42

so they will most

1:12:44

likely have more announcements of the things

1:12:46

that are happening at the event as

1:12:48

we get closer to the event. They'll

1:12:50

generally announce new things or special things.

1:12:53

So if you're like, I don't know

1:12:55

if that's a value, we also,

1:12:58

they haven't told us everything yet. So

1:13:00

we also haven't seen the shirt. We don't know what that is.

1:13:03

Could be anything. But they did text

1:13:05

me that I could pre-order it. I got that

1:13:07

text. You could pre-order it. Because

1:13:10

it is Sun and Moon themed with

1:13:12

Marshadow with the hats, it's

1:13:14

probably safe to say that they will

1:13:17

do something so Galio,

1:13:19

so Galeo. I

1:13:21

don't remember how the anime says it. And

1:13:23

Lunala related. Although those

1:13:25

Pokemon aren't out yet. So

1:13:28

is that even exciting if they're

1:13:31

not shiny and they just appear? We

1:13:33

don't know anything about Necrozma. And

1:13:37

Necrozma can merge with Sogelyo

1:13:39

and Lunala. So is that? I

1:13:43

think Dawn, Dawn wings

1:13:46

Necrozma and Duskmane

1:13:48

Necrozma are

1:13:50

just going to be separated. They're

1:13:52

just going to be their own raids. Like Geratina

1:13:56

or Deoxys. I

1:13:59

think they tried to intro. a form-changing feature

1:14:01

and used it for two Pokemon and

1:14:03

stuff. What's a Pokemon

1:14:05

with that? Hoopa

1:14:09

and the dog. Fervru.

1:14:13

Yeah. Yeah. I was like,

1:14:15

you're right. Hoopa does have it. You have to spend like, what,

1:14:17

like 25 to change it? I think so, yeah. Not

1:14:20

great. And I

1:14:22

had to really drop the ball. They could have just gave us

1:14:24

two Hoopas. They messed up. So

1:14:27

are those going to be in raids? There's

1:14:29

also a bunch of, like this

1:14:31

season started off with Hoipl

1:14:34

as an Ultra Beast. Hoipl can't

1:14:36

evolve yet. It will

1:14:38

eventually evolve into Naganetal. I

1:14:40

have not seen a single person say that name

1:14:42

correctly. So none of them watched the Sun and

1:14:44

Moon anime. Naganetal. I

1:14:47

had a lot of people didn't watch the Sun and Moon anime to

1:14:49

be fair. Shaman can

1:14:51

also change form. Yeah. Oh, Shaman

1:14:53

can. Okay. Like

1:14:56

we just don't know. Like,

1:14:58

or they just do

1:15:00

a Sun and Moon theme. And like, I

1:15:02

guess what I'm saying is like the raid

1:15:04

situation is also what kind of tends to

1:15:06

convince people. We

1:15:09

don't know anything about that. We

1:15:12

could have the Necrozma,

1:15:15

all of those forms with special

1:15:17

adventure effects. Honestly,

1:15:19

I could see that happening. Necrozma

1:15:22

has its own adventure effect or something. Yeah.

1:15:24

Or Necrozma also

1:15:27

has Ultra Necrozma, which

1:15:29

I don't know how that would work either.

1:15:33

There, yeah, there's a lot there that I would... Maybe

1:15:36

they'll figure it out this year. They

1:15:39

could just do like all four Tapus

1:15:41

are the raids. Oh,

1:15:43

true. And they could be shiny. Like

1:15:45

there's a lot of raid Pokemon in Sun and Moon.

1:15:48

There's how many Ultra Beasts? Like 12? There's

1:15:51

the four Tapus. Yeah. There's

1:15:53

all the forms of Necrozma. There's

1:15:55

just a lot they could put into raids.

1:15:58

Um, some are... definitely

1:16:00

more exciting than others. My

1:16:04

goal of going to all of these is to

1:16:06

like live stream them and to invite people to

1:16:08

raids and to show people the cities they can't

1:16:10

go to and stuff. And it's nice

1:16:12

that they're slightly spread out. Also

1:16:14

nice that like they're

1:16:17

not overlapping with worlds either. Because

1:16:19

I did feel like that

1:16:22

being so close. Yeah.

1:16:25

Was also like a travel mess for people

1:16:27

to be like, oh, I want to. Just

1:16:29

assuming though, we don't have the dates for

1:16:31

worlds yet. Oh yeah. I

1:16:33

guess, I guess it's never not been August.

1:16:36

Yeah. There's probably

1:16:39

a year where it was like maybe

1:16:41

not August, but yeah. Uh,

1:16:44

a final, my final point here is before

1:16:46

we end the show, did Niantic

1:16:49

learn? We could stop there. That

1:16:51

could just be its own question. That's

1:16:53

the end. Thanks for coming. Super

1:16:55

effective. Did Niantic learn

1:16:57

that maybe having these

1:16:59

events in August led

1:17:02

to like heat stroke for a lot of people?

1:17:06

Like June is still hot, but

1:17:08

not as hot. Yeah. Well,

1:17:10

it depends on where you are in

1:17:12

the country, but yeah, I

1:17:14

have a feeling they want to spread

1:17:16

them out just from a business perspective.

1:17:18

You want things spread out simply because

1:17:20

it's easier to get your employees around

1:17:23

and to prepare. So I always

1:17:25

have a feeling that they want to try to

1:17:27

pick things that are spread out over the summer

1:17:30

months when it's a little bit more temperate. But

1:17:33

August tends to be the hottest month

1:17:36

everywhere in the

1:17:38

Northern hemisphere. That is, it's not

1:17:41

the same in the Southern hemisphere, but

1:17:43

again, I don't know that they

1:17:45

have a lot of choice in dates they get. I

1:17:47

think they always want them spread out and then they

1:17:50

just go with, well, this is what we got and

1:17:52

you're going to deal with it. Well, they have to

1:17:54

be also planning like two years in the future too.

1:17:56

Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.

1:18:00

Eight of the average tickets were

1:18:02

here. With. Like Madrid

1:18:04

is twenty seven euros.

1:18:07

What well as well as New York. When.

1:18:09

Five New York was ah, I think

1:18:12

it was twenty five, but when all

1:18:14

the axes and processing fees were added

1:18:16

it was about thirty out. Yeah, it

1:18:18

the say early bird special. Twenty five

1:18:20

was tax nephew. We. Are Ill?

1:18:22

Illinois looks like. It.

1:18:24

Was so bad that the they're a little low.

1:18:26

More ready this year maybe? Or.

1:18:28

Least they're presenting themselves Moretti with assists.

1:18:32

And. Ah, and

1:18:34

then Litton Comey Day will be this

1:18:36

upcoming weekend. If I'm not mistaken, this

1:18:39

podcast comes out on the eleventh. A

1:18:41

Little Me Day will be Saturday, March

1:18:43

sixteenth. A. Low the starter they

1:18:45

got left as pop Leo so. I.

1:18:48

Do expect a lot of Jan five mean days

1:18:50

though this year if we're assuming that, you know,

1:18:52

But. Who. Are. Will. Be

1:18:54

in February. And.

1:18:57

They gotta. Knock. Out and

1:18:59

went those out. what else is not signings and

1:19:01

the I which is like swaddle. Or

1:19:03

something else I can think of. As. Guess

1:19:06

a.club but. That.

1:19:08

The Dakotas years says

1:19:10

Mr. right?

1:19:14

Well, I think that they're so. Go. Watch

1:19:16

horizons of Yemen and pretty alright. I

1:19:19

think Horizons is worth one month of

1:19:21

Netflix. It's

1:19:25

gonna be an individual calculation a

1:19:28

since exist or it so far.

1:19:31

It's a good so so far. The think. You are

1:19:33

Greg I think you have a cast

1:19:35

was one O L Yeah Zoc! there's

1:19:37

one thing on So but I was

1:19:39

on the non Ten Know podcast this

1:19:41

week so that should be up on

1:19:44

their You Tube. That should be in

1:19:46

their podcast Eads. It. Is a

1:19:48

Ah, isn't all? It's. Is

1:19:50

a gaming podcast with a Nintendo focus. I was

1:19:52

on this week. Or. They

1:19:55

lost their. Normal.

1:19:57

Co house. So they changed their structure to have.

1:20:00

Like a rotating cause every week. Know I was.

1:20:02

I. Was the the cohost this week.

1:20:05

Serve. You a check that out if you wanna hear more of

1:20:07

me. There's. A video version of that.

1:20:10

As. Well and Alec their you tube and stuff.

1:20:13

I'm. That. Was fun, It

1:20:15

was fun. It's you know what am take away

1:20:17

of that. Is. I do.

1:20:20

I do. I the I've done

1:20:22

the show for fourteen years. I've.

1:20:25

And three months which full time. And.

1:20:28

And sometimes I forget. Even.

1:20:31

Talking to like a hardcore gamer. Like.

1:20:33

Would. Who plays. A lot

1:20:35

of Nintendo games of like through and through

1:20:38

makes a lot of interviews. I always forget

1:20:40

how. You. Can be such a hard core

1:20:42

video gamer and like. Your. Pokemon

1:20:44

knowledge is just not there. Like.

1:20:47

Like and that that's the best that sounds bad

1:20:49

like have not like the that's no one's fault

1:20:51

but like my own of like being so deep

1:20:53

in this franchise will like when I was explaining

1:20:55

one of the issues that I had with Legends

1:20:58

which was like. Surf. Doesn't do

1:21:00

what it does and old games and that's frustrating

1:21:02

and like a player like if I've I've for

1:21:04

Zoo Bath in front of me and I had

1:21:06

to serve button. I can only target ones who

1:21:08

bat. And. At that point that's annoying to make

1:21:10

it like water pulsar. Something to give me the option.

1:21:12

The surface know how it worked in old games. And.

1:21:15

His responses like as even. I.

1:21:18

Even think of that like that wasn't even like anything

1:21:20

that came up to me and was like. That.

1:21:22

It hit me with a realization of like.

1:21:25

You're. Not like an average player. You're

1:21:28

not like. Somebody.

1:21:30

Who just like. By. The

1:21:33

video game. here. They're like you're

1:21:35

a hardcore video game player and

1:21:37

my successor. You didn't realize that.

1:21:40

And. As a quick am I doing unless. You're.

1:21:45

Welcome A Master or at least you

1:21:48

know a whole I we I defined

1:21:50

as. So. It's kind of

1:21:52

funny sometimes that we. All. of

1:21:54

us on the show or like people in our

1:21:56

communities are discord or slacks like. Like.

1:21:58

we are like For better

1:22:00

or for worse, in our own bubble of like

1:22:03

these advancements in Pokemon that

1:22:05

like we pick up on but like a

1:22:08

lot of people don't. They like don't care. There's

1:22:11

a lot to know about Pokemon. Right, right.

1:22:13

Yeah, like there's probably somebody who absolutely loves

1:22:16

legends and they didn't, they don't even notice

1:22:18

or see any of the things that I

1:22:20

think of when I play legends and it's,

1:22:22

that's fine. Like that's, there's nothing wrong with

1:22:25

that. It's just a

1:22:27

different level of knowledge or personal

1:22:30

preference or whatnot. Whatever

1:22:32

is why these guys their own Roman Empire. Finally,

1:22:37

that question has been answered for me. I guess

1:22:39

it's been Pokemon this entire time. Using

1:22:43

the move Swords Dance

1:22:45

or Stealth Rock in Legends just

1:22:47

keeps me up at night because it just doesn't do what

1:22:49

it does in other games. It doesn't do what it did.

1:22:53

But it was a really good conversation. I felt

1:22:56

like I had good chemistry with wood. So if

1:22:58

you want to hear more of

1:23:00

me, I'll link that podcast on the

1:23:02

show notes as well. Otherwise,

1:23:05

thanks for listening. Thanks for making it to the end. If

effective. on

1:23:47

motorcycle, even though I

1:23:49

want to ride on one more.

1:23:52

But that doesn't use wheels. That's

1:23:54

why it would be a better technological

1:23:57

advancement. Doesn't

1:24:00

have to work perfectly. just like the poke him

1:24:02

on a could still be. A really cool

1:24:04

motorcycle. Have you seen those robots

1:24:06

that they've been developing that have

1:24:08

the four legs? That sort of

1:24:10

one who brill awkwardly. you. Never
