0:15

0:17

welcome to the investor evolution podcast.

0:20

I'm your host, Kimberly Hoyt and

0:22

I am glad to have you here today. Today,

0:25

we are going to get into the mindset

0:27

a little bit. And we're going to talk

0:30

about the three CS

0:32

of. Scarcity and the three

0:35

CS of abundance.

0:37

Now when we are talking

0:39

about. Business in general,

0:41

there can be this scarcity mindset

0:44

versus a mindset of abundance. And

0:46

I want to talk briefly about those,

0:49

those things that may be holding us back.

0:52

And shift our perspective to show us how

0:54

we can have that mindset of abundance

0:57

and move ourselves forward.

0:59

All right. Let's dive in. So we're

1:01

going to talk about scarcity first.

1:04

Now, what is scarcity? When I think about

1:06

scarcity, I think about.

1:09

a pie. There's only

1:11

so many slices in

1:14

that one pie. And as

1:16

soon as you take a slice out of that pan,

1:18

it's gone and it's gone forever. It doesn't come

1:20

back in, right. And that's what scarcity is

1:22

to me. It seems like there's only

1:25

so much money and so

1:27

much resources to go around. And

1:30

when you think about that pie lease

1:32

for me, that's the picture that I have

1:34

is once it's gone, it's gone.

1:36

So what are the three CS

1:39

of scarcity that we

1:41

can see happening, especially in business?

1:44

So the first one is. Competition.

1:47

Okay. And when I think

1:50

about this part of it, I

1:53

think back to sports. There's

1:55

only one winner. When you're playing a game of

1:57

basketball, somebody wins, somebody

2:00

loses. When you are running

2:02

a race there's someone's

2:04

in first place, maybe a second and a third,

2:06

the rest. Don't get anything,

2:09

but there's only one. Winner.

2:11

And I feel like this has

2:14

also kind of been ingrained in

2:16

us from the time that we were little.

2:18

especially for those of us that played sports, but even

2:20

in school, I've either won or I've

2:22

lost. And it's such,

2:25

um, a negative mindset

2:27

to be acting from. But that's the

2:29

first sea of scarcity and that

2:32

is that negative.

2:35

Feeling that feeling of lack.

2:37

Someone else gets that last piece of the pie.

2:40

Then I don't get anything. the second

2:42

C of scarcity is covet.

2:45

if someone has the dream car

2:47

and you see it. And maybe they're in the same

2:50

business that you're working in. Maybe they're

2:52

doing the same thing that you want to be doing. And

2:55

it can be our tendency to think. Well,

2:57

if they have it, then I can't. That's

3:00

probably not even a conscious

3:02

thought that you actually have,

3:05

but it probably is there. 'cause

3:07

that's kind of how we have been trained

3:11

and to think that. You

3:13

know, It's somebody else's toy. It's

3:15

not yours. That's theirs, not

3:17

yours. And that

3:19

leads to, again, it all comes back to

3:21

the negative connotation of

3:24

things. So when you see something

3:26

that someone else has and you want it.

3:28

And you're coveting that that

3:31

creates a negative vibration

3:33

and it creates a feeling of lack.

3:36

And the third C of scarcity

3:39

is cutthroat. And

3:41

especially in business. Now, this is

3:44

that. Feeling of,

3:46

you know, Everybody in for

3:48

themselves. And I can only

3:51

do what I can do, and I'm only going to help myself

3:53

because no one else is going to help me again,

3:57

think of like the negative feelings

3:59

that you think about and feel when

4:01

you start thinking that way. I have

4:03

to do it by myself. No one else can help me.

4:05

You know, it's all of these you know, extreme

4:08

extremes, right. Always, never,

4:10

you know, And when

4:12

you're again, when you're operating

4:14

from that. Place

4:17

of, uh, emotion.

4:19

It, it's not going to bring you the

4:21

things that you want now. In

4:24

the short term. You might get

4:26

that promotion. You might

4:28

achieve the level that you were looking

4:31

for. Uh, close that deal.

4:33

But over the long run, when that's

4:35

your mode of operation, where you're,

4:38

cutting everyone else out and only

4:40

fending for yourself. Then

4:44

in the end, in the long run.

4:46

It's going to limit your ability to advance because

4:49

you're going to ruin relationships. You

4:51

might even ruin your reputation.

4:54

You might be someone that no one really wants

4:56

to work with. You make, get stuff done.

4:59

But people don't like working with people like that,

5:01

where they realize

5:04

that at any point they could get cut out.

5:07

Because of the way that that's operating.

5:10

So the three CS. Of

5:13

scarcity, competition,

5:15

coveting and cutthroat. And all

5:17

of those. Are on such

5:20

a low vibrational frequency.

5:22

And. We can talk about

5:24

vibrations and. Harmony.

5:28

I could talk about it all day, but what happens

5:31

is those are the things that

5:33

you start attracting into your life.

5:36

Whatever you're putting out is what's going to come

5:38

back in. So if you're putting out the

5:40

negative, that competition, the feeling

5:43

of lack and scarcity. That's

5:45

what you're going to bring into your life. So let's

5:47

talk about the opposite. Let's talk about

5:49

the three CS of abundance. So

5:52

when we think about abundance, what I

5:54

think about is let's take a cherry

5:56

tree, for example. So when

5:58

you plant a cherry seed,

6:01

it's one seed. And when

6:03

you plant that cherry seed in that tree

6:05

grows up and begins producing fruit.

6:08

There is an abundance of fruit

6:10

that, that one. Cherry seed.

6:12

will produce from that one tree. I

6:15

don't know what the, you

6:17

know, the amount of cherries. A

6:19

typical tree will produce

6:22

over its lifetime, but I guarantee

6:24

you hundreds and thousands of cherries

6:27

compared to the one seed that was planted,

6:29

right. It is abundant. It

6:31

is 10 X, a hundred X times

6:34

what it started from.

6:37

And that's what abundance is when we

6:39

start operating from a place of abundance.

6:42

That is what we're going to expect.

6:44

And we're going to see. Why? Because

6:46

we're vibrating at a higher frequency and

6:48

what we're putting out is what we're going to bring back

6:50

in. So we're going to bring back in

6:53

those characteristics of abundance.

6:56

So the first C of abundance

7:00

is creation. Everything

7:02

that you see here, everything that you see behind

7:04

me, my little elephant, my painting, all these

7:07

plants and whatever. It all

7:09

started from a thought, someone

7:11

had a thought, like, I want to carve

7:14

an elephant out of this tree stump or out

7:16

of this log. And they created

7:18

it. Everything that we see started

7:21

from a thought. So when we are

7:24

creating. Things. We

7:26

are. In a high vibrational

7:28

frequency. And we're in a state

7:31

that is so attractive, that other things

7:33

are going to start coming in. And you're

7:35

going to come up with new ideas and better ideas

7:37

and bigger ideas. And that's a great place

7:40

to be. When we have that abundance mindset.

7:43

We realize. A

7:45

lot of different

7:47

things. I would say that that

7:50

place of creation. So opposite

7:52

of that place of scarcity, because

7:56

we're just starting to see things bigger

7:58

and different and, you know, tweaking

8:00

things a little bit. And when

8:03

we are in that place of creation,

8:05

We're going to see different opportunities.

8:09

This is going to lead to different

8:11

business opportunities and

8:13

different connections and

8:15

so much growth for us.

8:17

So creation is really powerful.

8:20

The second C of abundance is

8:23

celebrate. So we

8:25

talked about. How in scarcity, we covet

8:27

things and we want, what other people have.

8:30

And we're frustrated when other people have something

8:32

that we wanted. But when we celebrate.

8:35

I want you to think about this. This was the mindset

8:37

shift for me. That was

8:39

huge. When I see

8:41

someone with something

8:44

that I want and it sparks

8:46

up feeling. Of jealousy.

8:49

Okay. When you start feeling jealous of something, it's

8:51

because it's something that you want or desire.

8:54

But when we see something that someone else has,

8:56

and it's something that we want. I

8:58

want you to, instead of. Feeling

9:00

frustrated cause they have it in you don't. I

9:03

want you to start celebrating them. Why.

9:07

Because if they can get it,

9:09

you can get it. When you start shifting

9:12

that thought of the pie. Of

9:14

this finite resource and start

9:17

seeing things in abundance. You're

9:19

going to realize that when someone else has

9:21

something. That is evidence that

9:23

you can have it too. That

9:26

is evidence that it

9:28

is out there and available.

9:30

And if that's what you really want. You

9:32

can go out and get it. So when we start celebrating

9:35

others, Again, it's that positive

9:37

energy that's going to bring others.

9:40

To us as well and other things

9:42

into our life, we're going to start attracting those things.

9:44

So when we can start celebrating. Celebrating

9:47

the achievements that other people have

9:49

gained, celebrating the

9:51

success that they have and the places

9:54

that they're going. Because it's all

9:56

evidence that you can do it to. Now.

9:58

Maybe it's someone you need to learn

10:00

from. Maybe they need to be a mentor to you

10:02

and you need to figure out a way to,

10:05

to align with them and say, Hey, how can I help

10:07

you out? And how can I learn from you? So

10:09

that you can follow along in their

10:11

footsteps, but again, Use

10:14

it as evidence. If they can do it,

10:16

I can do it too. So the third,

10:18

that was the second C. Celebrate the third C

10:21

of abundance. Is

10:23

collaborate. We talked about competition

10:25

and there was only someone first

10:28

when we're in that place of scarcity. But

10:30

when we're in this place of

10:32

creation and celebration,

10:35

And collaboration when we can collaborate

10:38

with others. So like that, that person

10:40

that has the thing, or is doing the thing that you

10:42

want to do. Get close to

10:44

them, collaborate with them. Figure

10:47

out a way that you can provide value to

10:49

them and their business. And

10:51

in return. Learn from

10:53

them be in being in their presence

10:55

and around them and learning from what they're

10:57

doing is going to allow you

11:00

to do what you want to do and to get to

11:02

that same place again, when

11:04

we can work together. You

11:06

know, I've said this a hundred times,

11:08

that African proverb, if you want to go

11:10

fast, go alone. If you want to go far,

11:13

go together. Together. We are

11:15

so much better. We

11:17

can do so much more. And we have

11:19

so much more resources. Okay, this

11:21

is where that abundance comes from. When you

11:23

begin to realize the power of

11:25

collaboration and the resources that

11:27

others bring, they may be. Physical

11:30

material, monetary

11:32

resources. They may be intellectual

11:35

creation or experiences

11:38

that they're bringing to the table. That

11:41

is going to move everyone farther,

11:43

faster. And that

11:45

collaboration is such a joy

11:47

also, right? Because when you're doing things

11:49

with people, you enjoy, you love, you

11:52

like to be around you like to work with. That

11:54

makes the work fun.

11:57

And profitable. Right? You, you get

11:59

to move. Both of those needles

12:01

and that's a great place to be. If you

12:03

want to succeed, you need

12:06

a team around you. You need

12:08

others around you. However, that looks

12:10

get people in your life, get people in your

12:13

business that are going to help move you forward.

12:15

And if there's something in your business that you're lacking,

12:18

that you need. Ask

12:20

for it, put it out there. I'm

12:22

looking for. This type

12:25

of person in my business. Does

12:27

anyone know anyone who

12:29

could help. Especially in this age

12:31

of social media. And if you put that

12:33

on a post in a Facebook group,

12:36

guaranteed, there's 12 people,

12:38

at least who can help you with that skill,

12:41

if not more. Or somebody in that

12:43

group knows exactly the right

12:45

person. That you need to be connected with.

12:47

So don't be afraid to collaborate

12:50

with others and ask for help.

12:52

That's going to help move you forward. All

12:54

right. So how do we bring this all

12:56

together? So when we're

12:58

going from this feeling of scarcity

13:01

to a mindset of

13:03

abundance, How, how can we

13:05

do that? What are some strategies that we can do to

13:07

put these things into place? Kind of, like I talked

13:09

about. Scarcity is

13:11

probably something that a paradigm

13:14

that we have been. You know,

13:16

uh, immersed in for most

13:18

of our lives and for those

13:21

who are new to personal

13:23

growth and development. This

13:25

is rocking your world. I know

13:27

I've been there and this I'm new to this.

13:29

Personal growth and development space just

13:32

over the last, like two, three years.

13:34

So it's very new to me. And these

13:37

are things that I'm working on. So

13:39

I'm not super far ahead of you.

13:41

I am right here trying to shift that mindset

13:43

from scarcity to abundance. It's trying to shift

13:45

that mindset from scarcity to abundance.

13:48

So what are some strategies

13:51

for. embracing an abundant

13:54

mindset. It's all

13:56

about shifting your perspective. So

13:59

things that you can do to help shift

14:01

your perspective from scarcity.

14:04

To abundance. Is

14:06

gratitude practices. I know

14:08

this may seem like very cliche

14:10

and very, you know, popular right now.

14:13

But it is powerful. When

14:15

you are thankful for

14:17

the things that you have. You

14:20

realize how much you have, right.

14:22

And that you begin to see that abundance

14:25

of things that

14:27

have been given to you gifted to

14:29

you that are in your life. And as

14:31

you can start building that practice

14:33

of gratitude, it's going to open your eyes

14:36

to really. The abundance

14:38

that you truly do have and

14:40

continue to grow. Now, this

14:42

could be a journaling practice

14:45

that you do. It could be. You

14:47

know, you sit at the dinner table and

14:49

with your kids and your spouse. And

14:51

each of you says something that you're grateful

14:54

for for the day. However that looks

14:56

for you putting in putting

14:58

that gratitude practice in there once a day.

15:01

will be powerful another thing

15:03

that you can do. And this

15:05

is, this takes time. This takes practice

15:07

is reframing challenges.

15:10

When you come up against

15:12

a roadblock. An obstacle.

15:15

A challenge when you can take

15:18

a moment to step back from

15:20

that and ask, how

15:22

is this happening for me?

15:24

Versus why is this happening

15:27

to me? When we're in that feeling of scarcity,

15:30

that's what we're thinking. Why is this happening

15:32

to me? This all was bad. Things happen to

15:34

me again, it goes back to that mindset

15:36

and that vibration that you're operating on. But

15:39

when we catch ourselves saying that stop.

15:42

Okay. This is happening.

15:45

It's not happening to me. This is just

15:47

happening. Why is

15:49

this happening? How can this

15:51

work in my favor? How

15:53

can I use this situation? To

15:56

move myself forward. Let me tell you a little

15:58

story. I had applied

16:00

for a job back in. I want to say

16:02

late September. And this

16:05

job was something that.

16:08

I was guaranteed to have, I

16:10

was referred by a friend who works there. Um,

16:13

the nurse manager of the,

16:16

uh, procedure center was a nurse that I

16:18

had worked with. The office manager,

16:21

um, was the son of a physician

16:23

that I had worked for. Uh, I had

16:25

all these connections. I went in, interviewed,

16:28

it went great. They really liked me, went in for

16:30

a second interview with the other physicians. And

16:32

it was like guaranteed. And

16:36

a week went by. And I sent emails,

16:38

you know, nothing really happening. And I finally called

16:40

the, um, HR person

16:43

and she called me back and she was like, I'm so sorry.

16:45

They decided not to hire for this position.

16:48

You know, we thought we were going to be busy or whatever the reason

16:51

was. And was I upset? Yes.

16:53

cause. I was like, it felt

16:55

guaranteed. But,

16:58

you know, after I had my little

17:00

frustration and it's okay to be frustrated.

17:03

You know, but I didn't live in that.

17:05

Right. You know, I let it pass

17:07

and I began to see how this

17:09

was working for me. Well,

17:12

fast forward. A month.

17:14

My stepdad got sick. He was in

17:16

the hospital and I had to go to Arkansas.

17:19

Early for Thanksgiving. So I could be

17:21

there, help my mom out, help him out. And

17:24

had I had that job. There's

17:26

no way would have been able to do that. My

17:28

stepdad then passed away in January

17:30

of this year. And again, I went

17:32

and spent two weeks there with my mom. Had

17:35

I had that job. I never would've

17:37

been able to do that. And so

17:39

sometimes we can see that easier in hindsight,

17:42

of course, but I remember

17:45

as I was driving out there and

17:48

especially when my stepdad first got

17:50

sick, that was the first thought I was

17:52

like, I am so thankful that

17:54

I didn't get that job because I wouldn't

17:56

have had that time. When we can start seeing

17:59

obstacles as opportunities

18:01

to learn and grow. Man

18:03

again, it opens up the world of what

18:06

is possible. Another thing that you can do

18:08

to help. change from that

18:10

feeling of scarcity to

18:12

abundance. Is find

18:15

ways to foster generosity

18:17

and collaboration when you can

18:20

share with others, whether that's sharing

18:22

knowledge, whether that's sharing

18:25

resources, Whether that's teaching

18:27

them a skill that you have that

18:29

they need. Any way that

18:31

you can. Offer up your

18:34

expertise in whatever area

18:36

that is and can give

18:39

that freely to others without

18:41

expecting anything in return. Is

18:44

awesome because it will come back to you.

18:46

What you're giving out. We'll come back to you.

18:48

It may come back in a different way than you expect,

18:51

but it will come back to you. So give

18:54

it is. More blessed to give than

18:56

to receive because when you give it will

18:58

come back to you. And then being receptive

19:01

when it does come back to you and accepting

19:03

of that outpouring, that's coming back. When

19:05

there's someone else that's doing something that you want

19:07

to do and you can support them and celebrate them

19:10

along the way that's going

19:12

to. Um, you

19:14

know, just help you see. And again, I think

19:16

it's all about changing that perspective.

19:19

From that perspective of lack. To

19:21

that perspective of, you know, It's

19:23

available. It's available to them. It's available

19:26

to me and seeing that in abundance

19:29

The final third thing that

19:31

I think is important for getting.

19:34

Into that mindset of abundance

19:37

is focusing on personal

19:39

growth and development. When we are.

19:42

Focused on growing internally.

19:44

It's going to show in the world.

19:47

You know how we talked about earlier, um,

19:50

that it all starts with a thought and

19:52

then it comes into creation. So

19:55

everything on the outside needs to start on

19:57

the inside. First, we need to grow inside,

20:00

work on our mindset. And

20:02

that will translate into the

20:04

outcomes that we're looking for. Investing

20:07

in ourselves is the best

20:09

investment that we can go. Your

20:11

business will never outgrow

20:13

the pace at which you're growing yourself. So

20:16

always, always be working

20:18

on you, improving you, refining

20:20

yourself. Now. As we

20:23

kind of wind down and, and,

20:26

kind of wrap this up today. So

20:28

three CS that we see in

20:30

scarcity. Competition

20:32

coveting and that cutthroat behavior.

20:35

Versus the three CS of

20:37

abundance. Creation.

20:40

Celebrating and collaborating.

20:43

We see the stark difference. We see and feel

20:45

the energy differences between those two.

20:48

And as we work on gratitude practices

20:51

and, Working on

20:53

sharing with others, the lessons that we've

20:56

learned. And collaborating with others.

20:58

And when we can see ourselves shift

21:01

from that mindset of scarcity.

21:03

And into that mindset of abundance,

21:06

we are unstoppable. All right,

21:08

guys. Thank you so much for tuning in

21:10

today. I look forward to hearing from

21:12

you about this. What did you

21:15

learn? What were your takeaways now don't

21:17

forget to like, and subscribe and share this

21:19

episode and until next time, have

21:21

a great week.
