In this episode we share the inspiring story of the Estonian island Kihnu which despite its small size - 16 km2 of land and just 500 residents - has become a good example of how to safeguard and valorize indigenous intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Since 2003, Kihnu cultural space has been included in UNESCO's representative list of ICH of humanity, and in the meantime Kihnu has developed into an attractive cultural tourism destination for both domestic and international visitors. Join us to learn about Kihnu's experience - achievements as well as ongoing challenges - from Mare Mätas - an indigenous Kihnu woman, cultural leader and tourism entrepreneur.
