2:00
trenches of starting businesses, transitioning businesses, and doing
2:05
a lot of the things that you have asked me to cover on this podcast.
2:10
So I've been getting a lot of feedback and what are
2:12
the most common things are? How do I start business?
2:15
You know, and, and mainly a coaching expert, online course kind of
2:19
business, or maybe transitioned to that and, and understand what.
2:23
What should I focus on? What are the priorities? What should I be spending my time on and what shouldn't
2:27
I be doing as well? That's why I brought Kira Palmer onto the podcast.
2:31
And she has lived this at an early age.
2:34
It was crazy. She actually had cancer is 16 years old.
2:38
And at that early age, she started, uh, she had to do
2:41
things differently and focus. And you can tell this, carried her into all the different ups
2:45
and downs in business as well.
2:48
And I love how bubbly and happy she is because I
2:51
could genuinely see that. It's from doing the work and she's going to break
2:56
down all these different things of how she did that.
2:59
Failures and successes included and make it very
3:02
actionable for you as well. She also runs all of the content for Kartra, which I've, I've talked to
3:07
you about on this, and they're one of the partners of this podcast and
3:12
a lot of my clients, and we have some projects in there as well.
3:15
And she's talking about how, uh, that's been just such a great tool
3:19
for starting it's not required, and this is not an ad by any means.
3:22
This, uh, this talk, but I want to just make sure that you're
3:26
aware that, um, she knows a lot about this and we'll talk
3:29
about how that could be a tool. If you want to try it out, there's a 30 day free trial to
3:33
start and try out Kartra it's [email protected]
3:39
slash Kartra. That'll get you there.
3:41
You'll see the page. And you'll see you'll, you'll leave this episode with a whole
3:45
bunch of actionable steps. And then if you want to take that and run with Kartra as well.
3:49
Well, you got the tool to do it as well. So enjoy this.
3:52
Kara is awesome and hope you go away and put some stuff in action.
3:56
See that. I'm stoked to have you here, Keara.
3:58
And you know, you, you have, you've done so much in, you know, it seems
4:04
we're just chatting and just kind of goofing off back and forth,
4:07
talking about the people we know.
4:10
you know, I'll just throw out some names like AJ Roberts is a buddy
4:12
of mine here in town, San Diego. You know, we both are collaborating with Carta in different ways.
4:18
We'll talk about that, but it's like, I want to talk about
4:21
your story and what you've done throughout the years that
4:25
like you've navigated, I feel like many different business
4:28
models and a topic that shows up a lot here on the show.
4:31
It's like, Hey, how do I. Start a business most effectively, like mindset all the way into
4:38
the tactics, maybe the tools. And then also how do you maybe reinvent yourself?
4:44
Maybe you're going in a direction that's just not really you
4:47
or it's just not working out. And like, how do we change things up?
4:50
So I felt like, like you're, you're a perfect pick for,
4:53
for chatting exactly that. Yes, this will be fun.
4:57
I'm excited to be here. Yeah, so tell me about like give you give me the quick like, you
5:02
know elevator pitch of you just to kind of set the Scene and then
5:05
we'll kind of dive into some stuff Me as a person.
5:09
I live in Greenville, South Carolina.
5:13
I'm married. I have a cat right now.
5:15
That's my, that's my only child for now.
5:18
I do content marketing for Kartra.
5:21
I've been an agency owner marketer for a while.
5:25
even worked for Tony Robbins as a coach.
5:29
but everything is ever evolving.
5:31
Everything is creative. Everything's fun.
5:34
and that's a little bit about me. My name's Keara, by the way.
5:38
Welcome welcome. Yeah No, it's, you know, well, what you've done, you've like, so media
5:44
marketing and doing your own stuff.
5:46
I know you held retreats. Like I, it seems like you've done a lot of cool stuff that,
5:52
and, and talk about maybe some of the elements of when you
5:55
started, but also these points of transition, because I know
6:00
you've had ups and downs. And I'm kind of curious of some of those just to kind of set the scene.
6:05
When I started, it was definitely a really low point in my life.
6:10
I felt like a train wreck. Don't we all.
6:14
Yes. but back, back in the day, it was like 10 years ago.
6:20
I had survived cancer and it was just a very confusing time because
6:25
I was very young when I had cancer.
6:28
So by the time I survived, I was 18.
6:31
and then I just kind of went off to college like
6:34
everybody else did in my town. But I really never put any thought into the future.
6:39
So, by the time I graduated college, I was very confused.
6:44
I became a personal trainer, because I was gung ho about
6:48
just transforming my health. And, at that time I was living in Philadelphia cause I grew up in
6:56
New Jersey and that's close, and I was personal training clients.
7:01
But every time I drove to somebody's house to train them,
7:05
I would, well not every time, but oftentimes I would wind up
7:08
getting a parking ticket that costs more than the amount that I
7:12
was paid for my training session. wow.
7:15
Yes, that's, that's really insight.
7:17
You know, motivating. it was.
7:20
So here I was trying to like reinvent my life, do something I
7:24
love, get healthy in the process. I was passionate.
7:27
But I could not pay my bills. So one of my buddies, AJ Merzad, he was a founder of online super coach,
7:35
which taught personal trainers how to start an online business.
7:39
He saw that I was struggling. He said, Hey, I'll hire you to.
7:43
YouTube things, sit in your bedroom, try to figure out how
7:46
to do this marketing thing. Try to launch a thing called a podcast.
7:51
and all of this stuff was new back then.
7:53
So he paid me the amount that I got paid as a personal trainer and
7:58
I didn't get any parking tickets. That's
8:01
that's, that's how I started learning how to do marketing.
8:05
Yeah, a way to start.
8:08
Obviously, you did like the gorilla. Just like, you know, just, I don't know.
8:11
You did it the hard way. You know, going out there, driving.
8:14
Obviously, getting tickets. You knew the tickets were probably coming, too.
8:18
But you were doing the work anyway, huh? Yeah. so I was always frantically looking at my watch like,
8:23
Oh no, I'm two minutes over. but they get you.
8:26
They get you in Philadelphia. but yeah, eventually one thing led to the next.
8:30
You know, I of course learned that I needed to invest in myself
8:34
and I couldn't just patch things together through YouTube or
8:37
podcasts or books if I really wanted to play at a next level.
8:42
And there's always a next level, so.
8:45
I started investing and, and yeah, it's been beautiful
8:49
and a mess and beautiful. but that's life and that's, it's, it's, it's it in a nutshell.
8:55
And you know, like, and we're smiling, we're
8:57
laughing and stuff like that. But you know, it doesn't take away the fact that,
9:02
life can be tough and real.
9:05
And, I don't know, like, I kind of want to go back if you're
9:09
open to it, talking about the cancer thing so young in life.
9:13
I mean, I would imagine that. sets a pretty crazy foundation for the rest of your life.
9:18
And some of the stuff you're talking about here, like getting
9:20
help, transforming kind of the way you think and, and yeah,
9:23
getting support in general. Yeah.
9:26
I learned that I felt very different from the people around me, mostly
9:30
because I couldn't relate to what they were going through.
9:34
for example, if you're 16 and you're at school, then someone's
9:37
talking about a breakup or they're talking about a sports game.
9:40
Whereas, you know, My conversation was more of like, you know,
9:44
Hey, am I going to survive this?
9:47
You know, disease that I have. So, and eventually I could not go to school anymore and I, had
9:53
to get homeschooled, but I think because of how kind of different
9:58
I started to feel, and also how precious I realized life is.
10:04
I. I decided, once I got, once I graduated college and kind of
10:09
got my, wits about me, I started realizing like, Hey, life's short.
10:14
I want to do something I love and that might be completely different
10:18
and I might get criticized for it, but I'm going to go for it.
10:21
And that's like what you just said there is something I feel
10:24
like people, what, halfway through their life or never
10:28
realize, you know, it's like, Oh, wow, I just wasted away.
10:32
Not wasted, but it's like life went by so fast.
10:34
Like, it's quick. It's, it's precious.
10:37
Anything can happen. So like, that's, yeah, what are some, let's talk about that
10:43
because I feel like this is a big topic on the show are people in a
10:46
business that might like Be due for transformation, but maybe they don't
10:50
realize it They haven't taken the time to analyze their situation and
10:55
it doesn't have to be cancer That is the wake up call but like something
10:59
Anything could be a wake up call, really, you know.
11:02
Someone could pass away, it could be a disease, it could be something
11:05
extreme like that, or it could just be the fact that you don't
11:08
want to tolerate another day living in the shadows of yourself.
11:14
that could be a decision. You know, I always, believed in that Ralph Waldo, Waldo
11:19
Emerson quote that says the universe conspires, once you
11:22
make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.
11:26
So if someone right now is feeling maybe they're stuck in fear or.
11:30
You know, have this dream they want to pursue, but something's
11:34
been holding them back. Usually it's, usually it's ourselves, you know, and I've
11:39
been guilty of this too, in different ways in the past.
11:42
but if you make a decision, like, you know what, I'm going to do this.
11:45
I'm going to make it happen. Then any of us can do it.
11:50
It's a decision like you said and like I mean you didn't have
11:53
any other choice obviously at 16 and that You know in high school.
11:57
You're so young anyway, and I I doubt you really knew what you
12:00
wanted to do with the rest of your life because you're just surviving.
12:03
Like you said, you know, you're in the moment.
12:05
And the beauty is we don't have to start from a completely clean,
12:11
Blank empty slate because we get to pick up different talents and
12:15
skills along the way, and then kind of blend them up in our, in our
12:19
brains and in our soul and like figure out which skills we want
12:23
to take with us, which we don't.
12:26
And so that was, what was great was, you know, marketing.
12:29
I had no experience with it when I got pulled into it.
12:33
But I did know that I used to enjoy writing and I did know
12:37
that I like to do some graphic design stuff on my computer.
12:41
And so these things just started coming together and, you know,
12:45
eventually as you kind of reinvent yourself at different stages in
12:50
life, That'll continue to happen.
12:53
So yeah, it's beautiful how life unfolds and you pick
12:57
up so many different talents and wisdom along the way.
13:00
Yeah. And like you did, you jumped in, you just figured it out.
13:04
You obviously luckily had someone, but it wasn't luck.
13:07
You obviously made it happen by putting yourself out there.
13:10
You had someone to fund you in learning this stuff,
13:14
but you still did the work. And obviously that's like a ton of work.
13:18
I was single at the time, thankfully, because I would just
13:22
be on my laptop from like six in the morning till 10 PM at night.
13:28
And I just, Wanted to learn everything that I could.
13:32
I went to coffee shops. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to going to coffee shops And I
13:38
remember I even cried once when I was trying to learn Facebook ads.
13:41
I was like, this is so frustrating But I need to figure it out
13:46
Yeah, I think everyone's kind of been there at least
13:48
Google ads, Facebook ads, YouTube ads, or just whatever.
13:51
It's starting a podcast. Really could be anything.
13:55
I know. It's yeah. So give, give, you know, give some love to that next person in the
13:59
coffee shop that looks stressed and hunched over there and their
14:02
Yes, yes. Send them free coffee.
14:06
seriously, like they're going to change the world somehow.
14:11
That's great. So where did that lead you? I mean, so you started off learning a ton and you were
14:16
kind of sounding like you were kind of mentored along the way
14:18
as well, which is super smart. Yes.
14:22
where did, where'd you go from there? Because I know you've done all sorts of fun stuff that kind of, yeah,
14:27
led you in different locations too. Yes.
14:30
eventually I moved, Like away from being behind the computer all of
14:36
the time for that company I was working for I started doing Some
14:41
speaking for them and then I was coaching for the company teaching
14:44
these personal trainers how to start an online business So again, that
14:49
was like 10 years ago Eventually, I felt like I was stuck and I wanted
14:55
to kind of break through to a next level so I I, I got certified in
15:01
neurolinguistic programming and as you know, when you go to different
15:05
events and invest in yourself, one thing always leads to the next.
15:09
so yeah, eventually I wound up, I wound up working for Tony
15:13
Robbins next as a results coach, and then that was just another,
15:18
place where I got and I loved it.
15:21
I was coaching and I realized that probably 99 percent of the clients
15:26
that I spoke to on the phone. Their goal was to start their own business and
15:32
to start their own thing. And I couldn't offer any consulting advice about business, which
15:38
made me just want to, like, I wanted to jump out of my seat
15:41
and be like, here, let me tell you some marketing strategies.
15:45
but obviously you can't, when you're a coach, you got to do
15:48
your job and it was an awesome job, but eventually I decided,
15:52
you know what, I'm going to open up a marketing agency.
15:55
so I did that, just started creating everyone's.
15:59
for them, built a team there of just awesome women doing great work.
16:05
yeah, that eventually joined Kartra. huh.
16:07
Oh, so that's how it all kind of mashed together right on.
16:10
Yes. I mean, so like if you were to speak to that person that is,
16:16
cause I know there are people listening and watching right
16:18
now cause I hear the feedback. Cause I've, I've been asking for like, Hey, what's the
16:22
one thing you want to learn and like really dive in.
16:24
And this is the number one thing is like start a business for
16:28
themselves or that transition thing.
16:30
We kind of talked about it a little bit, but like when starting
16:33
from scratch, I mean you talked about the power of learning
16:35
and just getting in there. Yeah. What are some other maybe principles or things that you've picked up
16:39
over the years that you would tell yourself, like, you know, 10 plus
16:43
years ago, this is what I would do. hone in on what you enjoy and, just start, I mean, in today's age, just
16:52
start creating content around it. Hmm.
16:55
there is never too many people talking about one
17:00
topic because someone's going to resonate with you versus.
17:04
Those other thousands of people or even millions of people who
17:07
are talking about the same topic People will be drawn to you because
17:11
of who you are So yeah, my advice would be just hey figure out what
17:15
you really enjoy what you could geek out on all day long Start
17:20
creating content around that. We all have a phone.
17:23
if we're listening to this, we all have a laptop hope.
17:27
Well, maybe not, but most of us have a laptop.
17:29
So like, just get out there, use these tools that you have.
17:32
It's, it's free to get off the ground and start making money.
17:37
It's a good point. It, especially YouTube.
17:40
Like I love YouTube. The fact that like they're pushing the podcast side
17:43
of things now, but like you said, everyone's got a phone.
17:46
It's usually the best camera you have around that you own anyway.
17:50
It's probably better than your webcam most of the time. So it's like.
17:54
And it's, you've either, you've paid for it already
17:57
and YouTube's free, like you said, so just start publishing.
18:00
I mean, Yeah, and I, I was listening to someone on your podcast,
18:06
Joe, one of your guests who was talking about taking small
18:09
steps and doing the thing. Stacey, Lauren,
18:11
Yeah, I really liked what she was saying.
18:15
As she was saying, Hey, if you're not comfortable just going ahead and
18:18
publishing a video today, why don't you just record yourself, today?
18:24
And, and only you're the only one who's going to watch it.
18:27
And then maybe tomorrow you'll publish it to YouTube, but
18:29
you'll put it as unlisted. And then maybe the next day you'll publish something
18:33
and have it be public. But the bottom line is she was talking about baby steps
18:38
and I really appreciated that.
18:40
Yeah, that's, thanks for listening by the way.
18:43
And calling that out, cause you're right.
18:45
Like, that was my baby steps. I remember that. I was like looking, it was before the cameras, I'm too old.
18:51
before like the phones had cameras and all that.
18:53
It was like the flip cams. I don't know if you ever Yes, of course.
18:56
I love those. But like, they had the red light.
18:59
I'm like, make the red light your friend. You're just talking to your buddy, you know.
19:02
And, yeah. Most of those videos would never get published, but
19:06
at least I can watch them. I don't even. analyze them probably too much, but
19:10
Yes. We're we're our own worst critic.
19:13
I mean, there's a saying for that for a reason, you know, and And you
19:17
still kind of you're always that I would say but the fact is just like
19:20
do it Anyway, throw it out there people aren't looking that closely
19:24
A hundred percent. People are so focused on their own lives.
19:27
Yep that it's very seldom that someone's really gonna look at your video and,
19:32
and spend all day like, Oh my gosh, do you see what shirt she's wearing?
19:36
Or like, that wasn't right. Or like, who cares?
19:40
Nobody cares. They're so focused on their own lives.
19:42
So if you can create content that's helping someone with their life,
19:46
helping them succeed in some way, then you know, you'll resonate the
19:50
right, you'll attract the right tribe that resonates with you.
19:54
And it all just grows from there.
19:56
It does. And there's an audience for everybody.
19:59
And, and like I was watching the, the old, found what
20:01
Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter gone now from Twitter.
20:05
But he was talking about something recently.
20:08
It was like the death of the follower. It's like followers aren't really a thing.
20:11
It's more like the platforms and your media will capture
20:15
the attention of the right people at the right time.
20:18
And I'm sure they'll follow certain people will, but I'm
20:22
finding that trend even in podcasting and YouTube is like
20:25
people will dip in and dip out for the right content, the topic.
20:29
of course, this is all why you should have an email list and
20:32
be able to capture them and follow up, outside of media,
20:36
which we'll dive into some of the models that you'd maybe.
20:39
You know, frame around the media you're talking about for
20:42
a business, a coaching business, expert business, which is a
20:46
lot of what you deal with. But like, yeah, I guess talk about that a little bit like
20:50
this, like how you approach media in terms of topics.
20:54
Cause you going back to what you said, it's like do what you love
20:57
and what gets you all excited. It's like, I wouldn't argue that one bit in terms of a
21:01
business, but also the content. Cause that's going to show with your content and what you do in your
21:06
business and we'll have longevity. 100%.
21:10
Yes. So, I am the content marketing manager for Kartra, which is an
21:15
all, all in one marketing platform.
21:18
And what we do there is a hybrid of different content
21:23
marketing strategies. a creator who's getting started.
21:29
I would not recommend to do all the strategies.
21:32
number one, usually we're all bootstrapping when we get started.
21:36
You're very blessed if you're not, but typically as a team of
21:40
one, maybe a team of two or three to five, you gotta find what you
21:46
enjoy and run with that platform.
21:50
So if you love writing, Then consider blogging, you
21:54
know, ranking, through SEO.
21:57
If you love creating videos, maybe do it on YouTube.
22:01
If you like short videos, reels,
22:03
Mhm. you know, whatever you're, you're interested in podcasting, Joe,
22:09
like you rock at podcasting and this has, you know, gotten you
22:12
so much traction, but the thing was you were consistent with it.
22:17
True. Yeah. whatever you do, do it consistently for the long haul, knowing there,
22:23
there eventually will be a payoff.
22:26
As long as you're truly doing what you love and you
22:28
know your stuff, then that's eventually, usually gonna happen.
22:34
So stick with it. Hey I'm going to pause the episode really fast and shoutout
22:38
another show that's on the podcast network over at HubSpot.
22:42
It's the audio destination for business professionals.
22:45
This is Mistakes That Made Me, it's hosted by Eman Ismail
22:50
She is interviewing successful business owners and talking about,
22:53
Hey, what are those mistakes? What are the failures? What are the things that you hate to talk about
22:57
that we can all learn from? I mean, like with piano it's do you like to talk about your mistakes?
23:02
Probably not. Well, that's what she's talking about and it's going to be there.
23:06
It is there waiting for you to listen, so you can learn from
23:09
those lessons and learn how to get past them or navigate
23:13
around those big boulders on your own journey to success.
23:16
So, Go listen to Mistakes That Made Me wherever you get your podcasts.
23:21
Hey, if you're looking to unlock some more income in
23:24
time, freedom, then I want to tell you about Kartra.

23:35

23:38
bunch more all in one place for one affordable price.
23:41
Now Kartra has every tool you need to scale.
23:44
It's super easy to use. And right now you could snag a free 30 day trial plus a 20%
23:50

23:59
Again, that is hustle and flowchart.com/k a R T R a.
24:05
Alex Hermosi talks about it pretty often.
24:07
It's like, just, just stay in the game.
24:09
And as long as you're in the game, like, at least some people
24:13
will be aware of you, and another friend, Roland Frazier, talks
24:18
about this pretty often, and it's like, yeah, the second you stop.
24:21
Giving value to people. It's like, you kind of get forgotten because there's
24:24
other people that will show up. So it's like, as long as you can still always show
24:29
up and give, give, give. And that's why I love media podcasting.
24:32
It's like, you're giving on, on, on scale, you know, on steroids
24:37
here, it's like, and then with repurposing like clips and all
24:40
that, it's like, boom, now you can hit all the platforms, but
24:43
it's like, nail this first.
24:46
And that's a beautiful thing is once you do have a team, then you
24:50
can start to have other people repurpose your content for you.
24:54
But you need the content first, getting on the ground, writing
24:57
the emails, writing the blogs, making the reels, whatever it
25:00
is, whatever lights you up.
25:03
you can repurpose that indefinitely really.
25:07
Yeah, 100%. And now with AI tools, like I've talked about a lot of them,
25:12
obviously cartridge has got some cool AI tools built in now, but
25:16
like on the media side, you got like Opus clips, which, you know,
25:19
you throw in your, your whole video or audio, and then now it's going
25:23
to dice it up in every which way and even has like social scheduling
25:27
and all that, you know, I'm Oh my gosh.
25:29
it's like, that's like 19 bucks a month.
25:32
And I have to just tell my wife this for her business.
25:34
I'm like, yeah, that strategy you're trying to come, like that
25:37
tool kind of just handles it. Oh my gosh, take my money
25:41
Right. I know I'm going to have the CEO on pretty soon.
25:46
I'm working on that. So like, yeah, we'll, we'll talk about that more, but what are,
25:51
yeah, like, I mean, as a team of one, that's, it's the hardest
25:54
thing in business to do, you know, you're kind of siloed, but
25:57
like, again, coaches, would you recommend, I'm sure get around some
26:01
people, some coaches, maybe groups.
26:04
it's really difficult to get started on your own if you're
26:08
not rubbing shoulders with others who have A similar goal that
26:12
you have and who have experience doing what you want to do.
26:17
You know, if you are talking to people who, who haven't produced the
26:21
results that you want, and they're giving you advice, then it's sort
26:24
of like the blind leading the blind. So, Rubbing shoulders with people like you, coaches, consultants,
26:32
experts, investing, investing in tools, investing in software.
26:38
Like you just mentioned something that's 19 a month
26:41
probably saves hours of time.
26:45
Oh yeah.
26:50
So investing in the right tools, software, the right, masterminds or,
26:56
courses that feel aligned with you.
26:59
Then, I think that's a great way to go.
27:01
Finding people who have the results that you want, learning from them,
27:06
traditionally or non traditionally.
27:10
and again, like using whatever tools it takes to produce
27:14
the results that you want. Yeah.
27:16
Yeah. The consistency and everything. I mean, that's like, I, you brought that up and that one
27:24
thing alone is the game changer.
27:26
I know on this show, this podcast, and I would say it's most creators,
27:29
people on YouTube as well. I mean, any business, right?
27:33
You have an email list. You want to be consistently following up with them and staying
27:37
staying on top of their mind. I mean, if not, there's a lot of noise out there.
27:42
And that's that's I think maybe that talking to that, like, what do you
27:46
think about with a I and how easy it is to I mean, it's it's easy and
27:52
not easy to create content, right? Like, it's really easy to crank out a bunch of a I content and
27:58
then that creates more noise. I feel like that maybe can deter people from wanting to even it.
28:03
Yeah. Pursue the whole media route.
28:05
What do you think about that? Yeah,
28:10
if you can't beat them, join them. I think AI is great.
28:15
I mean, it saves me hours or I used to bash my head against the
28:19
wall when I would write copy.
28:22
and I'd have to write copy all day in the past.
28:26
And just the, the greatest enemy for me was just that blinking cursor.
28:34
so I think using AI to create rough drafts, using AI to create
28:40
outlines, there's so much more that you know, Joe, than I do
28:44
about AI, because that's your jam. but all I know is that, hey, AI is not going to replace you, but people
28:52
who use AI a hundred percent will.
28:55
There you go. That's true. Well, walk me through, like, how would you approach, you know,
29:00
like the blank cursor or the blank page syndrome, you know, with
29:03
like copy, because like writing any kind of copy, I feel like
29:06
everyone listening can relate. So like, what's your simple process?
29:10
Because it's perfect for you. And don't worry about like, we all know more than each other
29:15
in different realms, but like, what's the cure process in your
29:19
The cura process is to write, I'm not going to curse,
29:23
but a crappy first draft. That's good.
29:27
instead of what I used to do, I used to try to think of the right
29:30
words and make it sound good. now, because I know I have AI to help me now, I'll just write
29:36
a really crappy first draft. So I won't even allow a blank page to exist.
29:41
I'll just go in there and say, Hey, how you doing?
29:44
You know, we just, created Kartra AI.
29:46
It helps you create copywriting for pages and,
29:50
and emails within seconds, you know, that's an example.
29:56
And then I'll take my crappy rough draft and put it into something like
30:00
chat GPT or Jasper AI I use as well.
30:05
And I'll just ask it like, Hey, can you write something
30:08
that's in the same voice and tone as this, but make it flow
30:11
better, make it make more sense.
30:14
And I'll just keep writing. I'll just keep asking questions and prompting it to refine the
30:19
output further and further until it's usually good enough where I
30:23
can put something on the page and make tweaks or paste it to another
30:28
AI tool and have that make tweaks. until finally it's a really solid draft for me.
30:34
I like it. I mean, that's, it's, everyone can do that.
30:37
And what I like to do is kind of like that same thing, but like all
30:41
instead of typing, sometimes I'll just like ramble and I had some
30:44
episodes on this, but like I'll record a loom video just for myself.
30:48
And like, this is something actually loom just came out with some AI.
30:52
That's pretty dang cool. I haven't tested it enough, but go peek at it if you want.
30:57
But like a loom video looms free, you know, it's like you can do that.
31:01
Ramble, take the transcription and like throw that into a clod or, or
31:06
chat GPT or something like that. There's some other tools to cast.
31:10
Magic's a good one that I love. Same kind of thing.
31:12
You can like ramble and it will give you all outputs of other things.
31:16
yeah. wow. That's like a million dollar strategy right there.
31:19
That's amazing. it can be if you implement it.
31:22
Yeah. Cause I like to, I like to walk.
31:25
I'm most creative when I walk and not when I'm just
31:27
like sitting at a desk. So like going for a walk, talking to your, in your loom
31:32
or your voice app and, you know, transcribing that, putting it in a.
31:37
Yeah. Wow. And it, maybe it, does it automate the transcription?
31:41
It can like a cast magic does that one.
31:44
That's a tool that I use. I would recommend it. those guys have been on the show as well too.
31:49
So Next level, Joe. Ah, get on it.
31:52
I mean, that's the thing. It's like anytime I can get away from screens and this
31:57
is why I love coffee shops. It's just there the other day.
31:59
Like I was like, man, it's so weird how more productive I feel when
32:03
I have like the smaller screen all the way to no screen is like,
32:08
I feel like the most productive, but if I can capture, it's all
32:11
about the capture of the things. Cause, and I think that's like death of all great ideas
32:16
lives in our heads, you know? So you're like, get them out somehow, but let it
32:20
So true. Yes.
32:23
I love that's what I think about often, I don't know,
32:26
me I'm happy. It's not just me, but,
32:29
about it. good.
32:34
Yeah. Yeah. Well, shoot. I mean, when it comes to, so that's like the content side as
32:39
you're getting into, cause we were talking about, you know, Kartra,
32:42
but also yourself and you are one.
32:45
And it's like a coach, you're an expert. And I am as well, I would identify as that.
32:50
And I think a lot of people. consultant, what more of the model?
32:54
So we're talking about the media side, kind of getting started.
32:57
So as we get into now, like after media, what are some next steps
33:02
that you see in the customer journey, but also I guess the,
33:05
the entrepreneur's journey. Yes.
33:08
Great question. so the content is going to create that brand awareness and it'll
33:14
get you traffic, especially if you're pointing that traffic,
33:18
let's say from Instagram to a page, then you want to have
33:23
some sort of a sales funnel.
33:25
Maybe it's a landing page where people can opt in
33:29
for a free exclusive.
33:32
Podcasts with Joe talking about all his favorite
33:34
AI tools and strategies. and people can only get that, for example, through your, through
33:41
your email list, your sales funnel. So once people land on that page, they opt in to get your free
33:49
guide or your free, whatever it is, free recording podcast.
33:55
then you can follow up with emails.
33:58
Let people know a little bit more about your business
34:01
and like relate to them. More importantly, create a connection with them, deliver
34:07
value through emails consistently, when you pair that email
34:13
touch point consistently with your content strategy that
34:17
they've already engaged with. So they're probably going to see more of it on
34:20
your feet on their feeds. The more they engage with it.
34:23
Now you're top of mind. Now you're becoming more of an expert.
34:27
And the more consistent you are with that, just like Joe
34:30
has been with his podcast, then eventually you can, you know,
34:34
promote something, let people know there's something for sale.
34:38
Selling online courses is an extremely profitable
34:42
business right now. Just teach what you know, monetize your knowledge.
34:46
That's what we're all about at Kartra is like the beautiful
34:49
thing is any average person knows a lot about something.
34:56
All of us do. So when you share your knowledge, you can monetize that.
35:00
Through a membership community where you share something month
35:03
to month, maybe special, special group trainings or whatever it is.
35:10
maybe you share an online course just straight up and have
35:14
video modules with downloads and activities people can do.
35:19
Or maybe you do a coaching or consulting and
35:22
actually offer services. And that's not necessarily monetizing your knowledge, but
35:27
it is monetizing your skillset, monetizing the wisdom you have
35:31
in that specific profession. Maybe you sell a mastermind.
35:35
I don't know what it is. Retreats. That's what I used to do.
35:38
And I got to get back to it, Joe. I want to see them and we'll talk about it briefly too.
35:43
Yeah, that was so fun. but anyway, that's, that's what I would recommend.
35:48
So in summary, I know I rambled a bit, but got to make content
35:53
so that people can vibe with you. People can discover you take that traffic, send it to some sort
35:59
of a sales funnel to get people on your email list, give them
36:03
exclusive value, continue to connect with them consistently email.
36:07
You could do text and then have some sort of a conversion.
36:12
Mechanism, whether that's a webinar, whether that's a sales page,
36:16
and then on the backend you've got a product, online course,
36:19
digital products, whatever it is.
36:22
It's super scalable too. Like all that stuff you talked about, obviously they vary,
36:25
you know, if you're doing masterminds of retreats, you can only do so much with your time, but at the same time.
36:32
That could just be part of your funnel. And
36:34
Yes. cause I know, yeah. Kartra of course can handle all of that and more.
36:39
And I know there's templates, all that fun stuff.
36:41
I've used it a ton. I know you're using it.
36:44
Obviously you're working there, but also your clients.
36:46
Yeah. I have clients as well. something that I know I've used it a lot for is
36:51
affiliate marketing as well. you know, to getting, getting affiliates to promote my thing,
36:57
but also me as an affiliate to a whole bunch of different
37:00
products that have used Carta. It's easy.
37:03
I like the fact that the stats are great, but I don't know if
37:07
there's anything on that front in terms of affiliate traffic,
37:11
but also just other traffic, getting awareness to offers and.
37:15
With media, obviously it's a huge thing as well,
37:18
Yeah. I mean, that's a great point, that you mentioned.
37:21
'cause a lot of times, I, I don't think about affiliate marketing.
37:25
Because that's not something that you're going out and creating yourself.
37:29
the cool thing about affiliate marketing is you don't have to
37:32
really create much of anything.
37:34
You can take a product that's already been created and then you
37:37
can sell that for a commission.
37:41
and I love the, the markets that are becoming more and more.
37:45
Joe with the micro influencers who are getting paid to
37:50
promote different products. so you don't even need to have a massive following to really tap
37:56
into a growing market right now.
37:59
you could become an Amazon influencer, for example, set
38:02
up a store front. Yeah.
38:04
So there's just this whole, growing, you could be a content
38:09
creator, like creating CGC videos for different companies
38:13
or UGC, user generated content for products you've purchased.
38:19
yeah, there's so much that is kind of like related
38:22
to affiliate marketing. That is this whole industry that's absolutely blowing up right now.
38:27
And it's very exciting. that's, that's honestly, it's, that's how it started.
38:32
That's how it's, it's true to podcast has been layered with
38:37
affiliate marketing in so many ways. And.
38:39
Yes. I mean, it's, I think it's like one of the cool, if you have media,
38:44
it's, I want to say the easiest, but it's one of the most organic
38:49
ways to kind of integrate into your media and talk about cool stuff that
38:53
you genuinely use and you love and you know it's going to help people.
38:57
It's like no one loses there and you don't have to necessarily
39:02
fulfill on the product. Maybe you do some support or whatever.
39:05
I mean, there's always creative things you can do, It's a really beautiful thing.
39:09
Just sharing what you love and then watching checks
39:12
come in every single month. I have done some affiliate marketing in the past, especially for Kartra.
39:18
And it was just awesome to, just get paid and to almost forget
39:22
that that was like a source of income, that would come to me.
39:26
I would just. Like see the money in my account and be like, oh wow.
39:30
Yeah. Nice. We're going out to dinner tonight We're going on a vacation
39:36
Or like my car payments paid off
39:38
Yes know like for the month? Oh, Yeah, oh
39:43
So like because that's how I saw that's like ever since I started
39:46
my business is like how do I chip away at the expenses or cool
39:49
things I want to do or stuff I got to pay for and then it's like
39:54
You And I've promoted software for a long time, a whole bunch
39:58
of different tools and platforms. And the cool thing is that most are recurring.
40:02
They pay you for a long time, especially if it's a good,
40:05
you know, a good, software. People aren't going to leave.
40:08
It's a, like a core tool in their, in their whole workflow.
40:11
So it's like, great. That means I can kind of start to anticipate my runway
40:16
with that, that, revenue.
40:18
And. Yeah, so a lot of people ask about affiliate marketing as well.
40:23
So I feel like it's, it's one of those like mysterious
40:25
things until you get in there and make it your own beast.
40:29
Because there's so many ways to dice it off, too.
40:31
Yes, it's a beautiful thing. And like you said, Kartra does it really well.
40:36
And they're, they're really growing in that area as well to make it more
40:40
and more powerful to people, for our customers to have like an army of
40:44
people selling their stuff for them.
40:47
and then also, you know, we have affiliates, people who, Kartra.
40:53
So yeah, everyone wins. Like you said.
40:56
I mean, it's a great business. I Yes.
40:59
So. Well on the, since we're talking about Kartra, because I want to
41:02
go back to your retreats and kind of like what you did do and what
41:06
you will be doing soon, I bet. I'm just going to put it out there.
41:11
what are some, I know AI is obviously wrapped into a lot
41:14
of tools these days and Kartra now has the whole, what, writer
41:19
built into it now to basically support with what we were
41:22
talking about on the copyright. Right. Yes.
41:25
any other, features, like things that we should know about that's
41:29
coming or in there that maybe are lesser known that we haven't
41:32
talked about, and then we'll give people a way to join too.
41:35
Well, I can't spill the details of the future,
41:38
but they are really great. We are, investing a lot into our platform to make
41:44
it better and better. We're listening to our customers and, creating things
41:48
that make it a lot easier for, anyone to earn online.
41:52
So lots of cool stuff coming, but like you mentioned, the,
41:56
the coolest thing that we just came out with was Kartra AI.
41:59
Which essentially you can train the AI on your business and
42:04
tell it about your business in the settings of your account.
42:08
And then when you go to, say, write a page or write an email
42:11
or a text, then you can enter a prompt into, the AI that we've got.
42:17
And, Tell it what you want it to write and how you want
42:21
it to be written and it can write the entire page for you.
42:25
It can write just a section for you.
42:27
Obviously, if you're doing email or text, it'll write the
42:30
entire email or text for you. but it's amazing at helping generate ideas.
42:36
And like I mentioned, before it, it really eliminates the, blinking
42:41
cursor, so that you can just gain momentum and save a lot of time.
42:47
I mean, The features are really cool and Kartra is like the future
42:50
stuff because I've heard little hints but I don't know details.
42:54
So i'm i'm eagerly waiting. So, the ai stuff is awesome though And that I mean that's going to
43:00
shortcut everything To get started.
43:03
I know I shout this out all the time on the podcast, but like i'll shout
43:06
it out right now I'm, sure you've heard it before But if you haven't
43:09

43:13
com slash Kartra. And that will, you'll see the options and all
43:18
that stuff on that page. But, anything else I missed Keara
43:22
well, yes, Kartra includes pages, emails, texts, courses,
43:26
memberships, products, checkouts.
43:28
So really everything you need, the list goes on and on,
43:32
but definitely check it out. Give it a free 30 day trial.
43:36
like Joe and I said, it's free to start earning online.
43:39
So yeah, check it out. And thanks for listening.
43:42
Thanks for having me, Joe. course, yeah.
43:44
Hustle and flowchart. com slash Kartra.
43:47
Just one more time. before I get you out of here, Keara, those, those retreats that you were
43:53
doing, like what were they briefly?
43:55
And like, It's almost like, why are we, I'm assuming it's just fun.
44:00
So you made a business around fun.
44:02
I'm assuming things, but, give me that, like the little blip
44:05
of it and like what you're going to plan on doing in the future because you know, it's going to happen again, right?
44:10
Yes, it is. I used to run retreats before the pandemic.
44:16
I had women's retreats where we would go to different national parks
44:21
and, just really explore together.
44:24
And yeah, there wasn't much of an agenda.
44:28
but I would promote them. I would use Kartra, make a pretty landing page.
44:32
And essentially I would just make the exact itinerary of
44:37
exactly what I would want to do if I went to that place.
44:40
And then I would just put it out there and say, Hey, like, let's
44:43
see if anyone wants to buy this. And, I always just filled them out.
44:49
I would take enough attendees where we could all fit in, like,
44:53
a minivan or something like that. So, yeah, they were always just, like, small and intimate.
44:58
and eventually, I don't want to be driving a minivan because,
45:02
you know, It's really scary. I was driving at Zion national park late at night and there's
45:07
like, yeah, it's too scary, but, yeah, it was so much fun
45:12
to do that and to see people actually buying it, especially
45:15
when I really had no experience doing something like that.
45:19
it was something I just, I winged it and it worked out
45:22
and it was just awesome. We had, we had several of those retreats.
45:26
That's a perfect use case for Kartra and also starting a
45:30
business around something you love. Like, that's the thing.
45:33
It doesn't take a bunch of people to like get a
45:35
business idea off the ground. I mean, you can fill a minivan with that's like six people or something.
45:40
Yes. And you're going to have crazy memories.
45:44
You're going to be able to lock, you know, record it in person, more
45:47
media, check and like good vibes.
45:51
Obviously you're having fun. You're like getting other people to pay for your
45:53
trip, which is kind of cool. Yeah.
45:56
And, and profit some, if you price it right.
45:59
And then you could always invite a photographer,
46:02
photographer, videographer. and sometimes they'll just apply on their own.
46:07
So I did have, different photographers apply to be part
46:11
of my retreat and I'd kind of work something out with them.
46:14
Like, Hey, I'll offer you free marketing consulting.
46:17
If you take videos and footage at the retreat and everyone
46:21
always said, heck yeah. It's a no brainer.
46:24
I love it. That's, that's, it's all the perks of being entrepreneur
46:28
and like doing some cool stuff. You could always get creative.
46:31
So making up offers on the fly and making things happen.
46:35
the more you do it, the easier they come. And then the more people are like, yeah, sure.
46:38
I'll give it a shot. Exactly.
46:41
for the yes. Well, Kara, I appreciate you.
46:44
You've been awesome. And I think it opened up a lot of, ideas from people watching
46:49
and listening and, definitely go check out Katra at 30 days for
46:53
free trial to give it a swing and like, you'll be able to
46:57
dip into the AI and all the fun stuff we talked about here too.
47:00
So. hustleandflowchart.
47:02
com slash Kartra, just to shout it out multiple times.
47:05

47:08

47:11

47:13

47:16

47:19
