Walking towards the bus stop after a film theory screening, I came upon two giant posters that were lying face up in the grass. My friend grabbed one, I grabbed the other. I soon found out that each actually consisted of two posters that were sandwiching cardboard stock. Marilyn Monroe on one side, Muhammad Ali on the other. I was looking for a way to make myself feel guilty about taking it, but couldn't...it absolutely felt like the right thing to do. So without compunction, I hauled this monstrosity of cardboard, masking tape, and idolatry back to my dorm to join the other findings in my room that I named "decor." I am pondering a way to suspend it from the ceiling so that it spins at random, without nails, hooks, or tape. This week alone, I have found a red-plaid picnic blanket, a ceramic wax tartlet, two iowa maps (one bicycle, one road), and now this great double-poster.
