If you’re doing more than 25% of the talking in an interview, stop talking.

That’s what Karen Viera says anyway. And she’d know a thing or two about hiring, as the Global Chief People Officer and Senior Vice President of Church’s Chicken, somewhere I love to grab a bite to eat.

Karen came on the Hire Learning Podcast to give us some nuggets of wisdom (pun not intended) that she’s picked up over the course of her more than 20-year long career in HR.

She wholeheartedly believes in the importance of connecting with employees at all levels of an organization, and told us a little about Church’s new All Stars and Legends programs for longstanding employees.

Oh, and of course we touched on the future of hiring from the technology aspect. I think Karen will be keeping her trusty notepad to hand for the foreseeable future, but that’s not to say she doesn’t see the value.
