RATING
I really wanted to add this show to my list of Evo-licious Podcast Fiction. Great acting. Deep soundscaping. And it’s mostly free from minutes-long banging and screams without context that QCODE often gets (rightfully) dinged for. But too many ill-researched bits kept drawing me out of the story. Like confusing a corporal with a colonel. And a psych ward that belongs in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest. Maybe those things won’t bug you. If not, go for it.
Well done, great audio quality.
Nice sound production and short enough to binge in an afternoon. Cool premise, not perfect in its execution, but worth a listen due to its short duration.
Rating - 7/10Typical Qcode high production quality paired with a decent/average plot ensures a moderately decent fiction podcast experience. No memorable characters worth mentioning, however the story is complete and meets a conclusive ending. If you're looking to listen to something that isn't long but is a completed series then this could be a choice worth looking into.Note: These are only my amateur personal review ratings/thoughts, you are welcome to have your own opinions.
Most likely my favourite QCode offering since season one of Blackout, I enjoyed listened to Ghost Tape. The premise is very different and rather unsettling. I'm not sure how accurate this comparison is but I got The Ring vibes, in the sense of a piece of digital media behaving strangely and eeriely. The story is carried well by this premise and it delivers a gritty and unsettling series of plotlines. The characters have clear and understandable motivations and are all riddled with flaws. It's a brave approach to expose even the main and typically-protagonist characters so openly. The sound design, particularly the misbehaving tape, is truly incredible but that's to be expected from QCode. If you're looking for something surreal and creepy, Ghost Tape's eight episodes are worth your attention.
Great performances, very spooky story. Captures you with the emotions and doesn't drag the plot out much more than necessary.
One of my all time favourites. The way they've utilized all facets of an audio only medium is incredible, I'm constantly in awe of the effects and sounds but on top of that theres a killer ;) plot and characterization. Ending could have been better but is still pretty solid.
