Today I'm joined by Angela Saini - science journalist and author of Superior: The Return of Race Science.
Angela is amazing. She brings an incredible freshness and accessibility to this deeply interesting and strangely personal subject of scientific racism.
When you listen to Angela discuss her work, her experience, her views on scientific racism, the world of academia and the place of science in our lives – it feels like she is talking about life in much a much broader sense than the term ‘science’ might lead you to believe.
We discuss, why she felt the need to write this book, scientific myths that have fed and fuelled racism, the intellectual underpinning of racism, and the need for race to be understood as a social construct and her desire for the world of science to reckon with its own history and inform itself using outside perspectives.
I am very grateful to Angela for writing her book and for this fascinating conversation – I learned soooooo much!
