Awhile back, I was moving home and came across some old correspondence I’d forgotten about. They were letters that had been sent from the front during WW!. I remember my grandmother showing them to me when I was very young.
She never actually explained the relationship between us and the family from which the letters came from. But I expect a cousin or distant cousin. I remember asking her but she somehow always avoided answering. It would have been useful to know because I was learning about WW1 at the time. It is probably why she showed them to me.
I recently decided that releasing the letters would add to the knowledge we have of WW1. So the first one I have released today. I have chosen a random sample and future ones will not be in any particular date order. In any event, on some, the dates are so faded as to be indiscernible.
The location, I understood was Ypres.
