I was reading Jeremiah chapter 23 this morning and part of verse 34 really stood out. it says
Verse 34 “If any prophet, priest, or anyone else says, ‘I have a prophecy from the Lord,’…That anyone else really got me digging on the word prophet and prophecy. Strong’s 5030: Hebrew word NabiyStrong’s 5197: Hebrew word NataphStrong’s 4396: Greek word ProphetesMeaning Spokesman on God’s behalf, God’s mouthpiece, Speaks by inspiration. Prophets ones who speak forth openly. A proclaimer of a divine message. New testament prophets preached divine counsels of grace already accomplished and the foretelling of the purpose of God in the future. To speak or sing by inspiration, perceive, contemplate telling forth the divine counselTalk about an eye opening revelation. I hear the Holy Spirit saying “anyone who says to speak, teach, sing, preach or deliver any message on God’s behalf is a prophet”. This means church leaders, pastors, sunday school teachers, worship team, intercessors, bench warmers etc. The minute we open our mouth or type and say “this is the word of the Lord” , “It’s in the word”. or sing anything that talks about God, we are indeed prophesying. We’ve stepped into the office of prophet. As the body of Christ we need to be more careful about what we say when we type or speak. Especially when it say’s we’re representing God. What we do and say can lead others astray. God has a big warning to us on that.Just read the 1st four verses of Jeremiah 231“What sorrow awaits the leaders of my people—the shepherds of my sheep—for they have destroyed and scattered the very ones they were expected to care for,” says the Lord.2 Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to these shepherds: “Instead of caring for my flock and leading them to safety, you have deserted them and driven them to destruction. Now I will pour out judgment on you for the evil you have done to them. 3 But I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the countries where I have driven them. I will bring them back to their own sheepfold, and they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 Then I will appoint responsible shepherds who will care for them, and they will never be afraid again. Not a single one will be lost or missing. I, the Lord, have spoken!Jeremiah 23:1-4 New Living Translation (NLT)If you’re needing of some bible study tools I recomend you start wit a concordance.
