Hey there and welcome back to EKLEKTISCH the podcast!The final episode of Season nº 5, is about none other than the origins of the studies of Astrology and Astronomy which began to be studied and solidified in the Bronze Age by the Sumerians, mainly studied and created in order to be able to calculate and measure constellations but also being able to predict future events.These were actually done by none other than the Bārû which were essentially the only people ordained to stud and also share such celestial wisdom; the primary occupants were one other than the royalty at the time. They utilized such services and omens as a means of being able to make wise political decisions, keep their nation and family secure and abundant. These omens also had the power to tell near future events such as natural catastrophes, conflicts, the turning or results of the harvest, and of course the reign time of the King.Of course, such omens (which were between 6500 to 7000 in total) weren't going to be able to endure time and the losing of knowledge, therefore the Sumerians made the fantastic decision to create the Enuma An Enlil.Which essentially were around 70 stone tablets, with these 7000 omens cut into them in the Cuniform language; which sadly we still to this day haven't managed to decipher and totally comprehend. Therefore leading to many blanks and erroneous transcriptions throughout time, however, because of the worldwide journey, these tablets took experts have managed to translate some and explain the contents of these.However, another very much present aspect in Astrology of course is the Zodiac signs and constellations, which were actually initially used to also measure mathematically the longitude and planetary position of celestial bodies as a whole. These of course were implemented fairly early in time and managed to go as far as becoming a discipline in the Medieval Islamic Era of the 8th century CE; which is why astrologers were always in business and had long-lasting careers throughout time.However, the tools back the of course were more physical than technological leading to also a bunch of errors and modifications of astrology as a whole, similar to what happened with Ptolemy's work in the 'Tetrabiblios' and the modification made on it by the Al-Sufi in his own personal work in the 'Book of Fixed Stars' published in 964AD.I hope you all enjoy this episode to the fullest and gain some deep insight into the rise and the semi-fall of the studies of Astrology and Astronomy as a whole; I wish you all good luck in any deeper studies you do about such things!I am wishing you all an amazing week ahead filled with much love, many blessings, and protection!Greetings, M.P.S- Sorry for the late upload I had a bunch of technical difficulties when scripting so it turned into a three-day battle with it!Also, I'm not too sure if I will post on Anchor next week mainly because I want to focus on catching up on my Youtube platform too, since the audience has Thank the Lord and The Most High ALSO grown massively there!To all the new listeners I hope you enjoy the content and I hope you will join our little community!Sending you all a great hug, M. :)))))
