Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto
0:02
and Interminute Fasting Podcast,
0:04
where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the
0:07
truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight.
0:21
You know, I've done a video on the negatives of distilled water. Today,
0:23
I'm going to talk about the positive
0:25
things about distilled water. There's a lot of people
0:27
that are getting amazing
0:29
results from using distilled water. So I want
0:32
to share a little bit more on what it is and how
0:34
you can use it and what it could be good for. Distilled
0:36
water is basically
0:40
pure H2O without any
0:43
of the impurities, without any viruses, bacteria,
0:46
because those get killed in the heating process. Also,
0:48
all the minerals are taken out, all
0:51
the heavy
0:53
metals are taken out,
0:56
all the pharmaceutical drugs, all the drugs,
0:59
medications that are estrogenic
1:02
are removed, and
1:03
also the toxic chemical gases
1:05
are removed as well. They're called volatile
1:08
organic compounds. So you
1:10
get rid of that, and you just have pure
1:12
water. And it's called hungry water because
1:15
it's like a very potent solvent,
1:17
which I'm going to explain. So you're basically
1:19
boiling the water, turning it to steam, and
1:22
then funneling it into some container,
1:25
like rain and snow are like nature's
1:28
distilled water, where it becomes evaporated,
1:31
goes into the clouds, and it comes
1:33
down. Of course, nowadays, because
1:35
of all the pollution in the air and
1:38
the
1:38
plastics
1:40
in the air, you don't want to be drinking
1:43
rainwater or snow. But long ago, it probably
1:45
was something really
1:48
good to drink. So distilled
1:50
water has a pH of 7. It's completely
1:53
neutral.
1:54
And it has some really interesting benefits.
1:56
And of course, the version of distilled water that I'm going to
1:58
recommend is not going to be as good as it is. to be the one
2:00
that you would buy at the grocery store in a plastic
2:03
jug that's been sitting there for a long
2:05
time leaching out all the plastics
2:08
into this distilled water. I'm
2:10
going to recommend probably
2:12
making your own, getting a unit that has
2:14
stainless steel that then filters
2:17
it to a glass container.
2:20
That would be the ideal situation.
2:22
So there's some really interesting benefits.
2:24
Number one, it can help remove
2:26
certain toxins like heavy metals
2:29
like mercury,
2:31
cadmium, lead. And
2:33
nowadays we are swimming in
2:35
a sea of chemicals
2:38
hitting us from every different angle. And
2:40
it's hard to know
2:42
the influence of these chemicals on
2:44
our bodies. So drinking distilled water
2:46
gives you a chance to
2:48
see what you would really feel like without
2:51
these heavy metals and other toxins
2:53
that are in your body. All
2:55
right, number two, it can help remove deposits
2:58
of certain minerals that
3:00
you don't want in your joints. Okay.
3:03
Let's say you
3:03
have arthritis or stiffness.
3:06
Well, distilled water can help break
3:08
down some of
3:10
that deposit and remove it from
3:12
the body. So a lot of people feel just
3:14
less stiff. They feel more flexible when they drink
3:17
distilled water. Also
3:19
removing calcium from your arteries.
3:22
There are several things you can do to remove
3:24
calcium from the arteries like vitamin
3:26
K2, a
3:28
good chelator like EDTA.
3:31
But also you can use distilled
3:33
water as a chelator to pull out
3:35
this excess calcium
3:37
from your arteries.
3:39
Now, as we age, calcium builds up also
3:41
in other tissues like our eyes,
3:44
you know, I guess cataracts. So that's
3:47
another benefit. Okay, number three, if
3:49
you're prone to kidney stones
3:52
or even gallstones, there
3:54
is a buildup of calcium. And so
3:56
distilled water would be a really important thing to tell.
4:00
if you want to reduce your risk of getting
4:02
stones in the body. Now, the question that
4:05
you're probably going to have is, well,
4:07
I don't, I've heard rumors that if you drink distilled
4:09
water, it's going to deplete me
4:11
of all my minerals. And it's
4:13
going to throw off my electrolytes and
4:15
probably cause my red blood cells to explode and I
4:17
might die, right? Well, that's not
4:20
going to happen because what all you need to do
4:22
is
4:23
put the minerals that you want or
4:25
you need back into your body.
4:27
Just start taking electrolytes with
4:30
the distilled water.
4:31
So that way you can have
4:33
more of certain minerals and not too much
4:35
of other minerals. We don't want
4:38
a lot of extra calcium in
4:40
our joints, in our eyes,
4:42
and in our arteries.
4:44
So all these minerals or metals that have a hard time
4:46
getting out of the body can be excreted
4:49
a bit more with distilled water.
4:51
Now, one thing you might find when you start drinking
4:53
distilled water is it can increase
4:55
diuresis. So you're going to urinate
4:57
a bit more, but just drink more water
5:00
so you can start flushing out things and
5:02
start cleaning out your body. So just
5:04
make sure you put the minerals back into your body
5:07
as well as eating foods that are high
5:09
in minerals. Now, another point I want to bring
5:11
up is should you be drinking distilled
5:13
water when you're fasting? And I think
5:15
it's actually a really, really good idea
5:18
because even now it will deplete
5:21
your electrolytes. You can easily put
5:23
those back in. But think about what's happening
5:25
when you're fasting. You are going
5:27
through a topology. You are cleaning
5:30
up old dead cells. You're
5:32
cleansing and you're detoxifying and
5:35
your body is generating a lot of
5:37
antioxidants when you're fasting. So a lot of good things
5:39
are happening. And if you add the
5:41
distilled water to this, you can at the same
5:43
time assist in removing a lot
5:46
of these toxins that are coming
5:48
out from the body. But
5:51
again, just make sure you put those minerals back in.
5:53
Now, there's a lot of people that actually
5:56
drink their tap water. Okay, there's city water
5:59
and others will get a fill. And that's all great.
6:01
But what you have to realize is that, yes,
6:03
it's true that there might be low
6:05
bacterial counts in tap
6:08
water, the city water that you drink.
6:10
But that's because they're adding a lot
6:12
of additional chemicals to sterilize
6:15
or kill these microbes.
6:17
So even though it might be free
6:20
of microbes, it might be very high
6:22
in these chemicals that are going to affect you.
6:24
And these chemicals are estrogenic.
6:26
They
6:26
have effects on your skin,
6:29
your brain, in fact,
6:31
the entire body. I mean, there's some pretty
6:33
disgusting things in tap water that they found,
6:35
like toilet paper particles,
6:38
tampon particles. I mean, it's
6:40
pretty disgusting. So at the very
6:42
least, get a filter.
6:44
And you may even want to consider getting
6:47
a good steam
6:47
distiller.
