Like Tony Stark in Civil War II, we need to seek to understand the context in order to gain proper control over our newfound powers. We cannot take it as-is, like Captain Marvel, and exploit the emotional response, the one that’s almost always proved to be wrong in the longer term, to support a shorter term agenda. (However noble that may be, or seem to be.)And we cannot let a Hydra operative manipulate our perception of the world - which is our reality - to the point where it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Cambridge Analytica scandal, and many more before it (that we forget soon, and we will forget about Cambridge Analytica as well soon enough), showed us the inadequacy of our understanding of technology’s impact on culture and society. But the answer cannot be to hold technological evolution back. The answer should be catching up to it.-------Kris Kavanagh's Medium article: https://medium.com/@CKava/why-almost-everything-reported-about-the-cambridge-analytica-facebook-hacking-controversy-is-db7f8af2d042Music & SFX: Epidemic Sound-------Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/DPtQDDBap0oRead the blog: https://dinchamion.com/2018/04/03/context-and-control/-------Find me on:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWrvkLFZVUK0YnWZMXaKOKQTwitter: https://twitter.com/dinchamionSnapchat: https://www.snapchat.com/add/dinchamionInstagram: https://instagram.com/dinchamionFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dinchamion
