Sydney police have charged 11 members of ABC TV's The Chaser for staging a fake motorcade.Julian Morrow and Chas Licciardello were detained after a fake motorcade was driven up to the hotel where US President George W Bush is staying during his visit to the city.Detective Superintendent Ken McKay said the Chaser team was not entitled to any preferential treatment by police.'While it appears it was a prank, the current APEC security environment isn't the place to do it in,' he said.It said they were arrested by APEC Investigation Squad detectives under laws that restrict anyone from entering declared zones during APEC.Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has denied The Chaser team revealed a chink in APEC security, saying their arrest was proof the system worked.Mr Downer told an APEC news conference: 'Whatever you think of the humour of The Chaser...they were clearly not going to harm anybody in a physical way.''They presumably were, as is the nature of their show, aiming to humiliate a lot of well-known people.'
