#2 – From WV EXECUTIVE –  For far too long, West Virginia has had to fight negative stereotypes and prove itself as a place worth investing in. Fortunately, this endless hard work has not gone unnoticed by companies like LG Electronics.

In January 2024, Governor Jim Justice announced that the state of West Virginia and LG Electronics would be launching a strategic initiative to grow new business ventures in the Mountain State and advance the development of technologies for renewable energy, health care and industries of the future.

Over the next five years, LG plans to launch several West Virginia-based businesses, which will collectively provide 275 high-skill jobs. To do this, LG will construct both a research and development and an engineering hub within the state that will hire software engineers, architects and developers.

#3 – From WV PUBLIC – The West Virginia Division of Highways plans to repave local traffic roads across the state with a new $150 million investment from the West Virginia Legislature.

During last month’s special legislative session, lawmakers passed Senate Bill 1002, which granted the agency a new round of funding for road improvements.

Gov. Jim Justice said that repairing state roads plays an important role in improving quality of life for West Virginians and attracting new residents. When prospective residents look at “standard of life” in West Virginia, they look at highways, he said.

Secretary of Transportation Jimmy Wriston said the repaving projects, along with the previously launched  “Operation R.I.P. Potholes,” are part of a coordinated effort to repair derelict roadways throughout West Virginia.
