RATING
Its got worse over time. Far too many ads and they think they are funny to boot which they arn't. Too much laughing and not enough seriousness. If you love idiotic banter and f words thrown around for fun then this is the show for you.
The show has great content, but it's wrapped in so much unfunny banter and extremely long ads I can't get through episodes anymore. I get that they crack themselves up, its just not for me.
This podcast is not for everyone as the hosts enjoy bantering about several subjects that are often non related to the discussion in hand. I have been listening to the show few weeks after the release of Serial. I’m used to hosts’ style as I find the discussions entertaining and often informative. However, Rebecca Lavoie is my least favorite host; she is argumentative and pedantic with her interjecting comments and loud laughs. Although she shares great insights, She isn’t a person who accepts a contrasting opinion to her’s.
Love these people!
Fun insightful discourse. Always good and thoughtful discourse. And moose meat
Not for me. Too much off-topic chatting. You have to love the hosts to love this one, otherwise you will have skipped out by the time the conversation rolls around to the topic.
I used to really like this show. The hosts have chemistry, seem like good friends, and there is some smart discussion. Despite the often grim subject matter, the hosts keep a jovial vibe, and there is a lot of banter and a bit of edgy humor. Your mileage may vary with that; however, the increasing moralizing from Rebecca Lavoie, who I do think is an intelligent and at times insightful woman, seems now primarily fueled by spending too much time on Twitter. After being on the edge for a while finally, I had to unsubscribe as just tired of Lavoie's constant generalizations of, "women think this and women think that." We're not seen as individuals when gender is brought into the conversation, which is often, and this is coming from another woman. The other hosts are smart as well, and they bring in some nuance but her voice just dominates over them all the time. It's not balanced. Earlier shows felt stronger, and I give them a middling grade for that as well as consistency and energy to build a community around their show.
Rebecca is always right, never wrong, and *definitely* more woke than anyone else. Happy? Now for crying out loud, sit down, shush, and let literally anyone else talk without interruption or correction. Just ONCE let someone else have the last word. Honestly, as a listener if you have the patience to get through this without throwing your phone, you deserve a medal.
