1:43
Welcome to another episode of
1:43
the Create Your vibrant life
1:47
podcast. This is your host,
1:47
Padma Ali. And today we're going
1:52
to be talking about how to go
1:52
after your desires. And we're
1:57
going to talk about, most of us
1:57
are told, okay, you have a
2:03
vision, you want this, so then
2:03
take the actions and go after
2:08
it. Here, I'm actually going to
2:08
dive into it a little bit
2:11
deeper. Because when you when
2:11
you don't have what you want,
2:16
what happens like what happens
2:16
to that, there's a reason you
2:21
haven't got gotten what you
2:21
desire. And so we're gonna dive
2:27
a little bit deeper into this
2:27
particular topic of desire, and
2:32
also about going after what you
2:32
want. So let's first start with,
2:39
what is it that you do want?
2:39
Oftentimes, when I ask people,
2:42
What is it that they want? They
2:42
tell me everything that they
2:45
don't want. Okay, so that in
2:45
itself is a is a broken
2:50
strategy, right? Because you're
2:50
going, you're putting into your
2:54
consciousness, what is it that
2:54
you don't want? But there's also
2:57
another reason why you haven't
2:57
achieved I'm going to use the
3:03
word achieved very loosely,
3:03
because I don't really
3:06
particularly believe in
3:06
achievement of something. But
3:11
it's more around, what is it
3:11
that your heart desires, and
3:16
what has stopped you from
3:16
getting that in the first place?
3:20
Which means we're going to talk
3:20
about okay, let me go here with
3:24
this. There's, there's, I was
3:24
having a few conversations, some
3:29
with my clients, and some with
3:29
some potential clients around
3:34
their vision, what they desire.
3:34
And what I was noticing was a
3:39
couple of things. For a few
3:39
people. What was coming up is
3:45
like, even having a desire field
3:45
out of their, their realm of
3:50
possibility, because so much of
3:50
their life, they have been
3:55
beaten down by even having a
3:55
desire. So for example, and this
4:01
is where trauma plays a role.
4:01
Right? So for example, if as a
4:05
child, you were not even allowed
4:05
to have a desire, because either
4:11
it was shot down, or your
4:11
parents said, Oh, how are you
4:14
going to do that? How many times
4:14
have you been asked that
4:17
question, right? Like you say,
4:17
Oh, I'm excited about this. And
4:20
the first question someone says
4:20
to you is, how are you going to
4:23
get there? And I can relate to
4:23
that in many levels. Because as
4:29
a visionary, oftentimes, I have
4:29
zero clues about how I'm going
4:33
to get there in the first phase.
4:33
The first phase is when you have
4:37
a desire, because I have no idea
4:37
how I'm going to take the next
4:42
steps to get there. But what I
4:42
do know is when I have a desire,
4:48
I know I'm going to figure out a
4:48
way but in those moments when I
4:52
was a child, I always always
4:52
thought around those lines as
4:55
well. And this is what I was
4:55
noticing, with the conversations
4:58
I was having was that When the
4:58
desire is shot down from day
5:03
one, then you're going to not
5:03
even allow yourself to have a
5:09
desire. So this is very vital.
5:09
Okay? Because especially because
5:16
if you've had experiences in
5:16
your life, like when I was
5:20
talking to a client of mine, and
5:20
and what they said was even
5:25
having a desire was shot down
5:25
immediately it almost Baris your
5:36
desire to have a desire. And I
5:36
pause there, I'm talking about
5:42
as slowly for a reason, because
5:42
I want this to sink in. And I,
5:46
this is where I'm going to
5:46
invite you to take a minute and
5:51
look back. These are the few
5:51
moments I will have you look
5:55
back into your past, otherwise,
5:55
the past doesn't exist. But
5:59
it'll give you a clue as to why
5:59
you haven't even allowed
6:05
yourself to dream. So go back to
6:05
your first experience of a
6:13
desire, and what came from that?
6:13
Were you encouraged to have a
6:19
desire? Or were you discouraged
6:19
to have a dream or a desire
6:23
however you want to put it? So
6:23
that is the first step? Then
6:28
comes? The the common factor
6:28
that I was noticing in all of
6:34
these conversations, which was,
6:34
I have not been able to do it in
6:38
the past. So how am I going to
6:38
do it? Now? How am I going to do
6:41
it this time, because it hasn't
6:41
happened. And I don't know how
6:47
to get there. And this is where
6:47
I often tell my clients and the
6:54
people, I'm interacting with
6:54
potential clients, or students
6:58
that you need to build a bridge,
6:58
it's not going to happen
7:02
overnight, you need to build a
7:02
bridge, then the bridge will
7:06
happen between where you're at
7:06
and where you want to go. But
7:11
again, what often happens again,
7:11
in these conversations, I was
7:14
noticing a particular theme. And
7:14
the theme was, I have tried so
7:19
many things, and it hasn't
7:19
happened back then. So how is it
7:22
going to happen now. And I don't
7:22
know if I wanted put some more
7:25
effort and time into this.
7:25
Because I don't know if it's
7:28
going to happen. So what's the
7:28
point, this is where trauma
7:35
happens. Trauma comes into play.
7:35
Because if you have had a
7:39
traumatic experience around
7:39
having desires, and not having
7:45
had a path to get to it, and
7:45
then you are going to be, you're
7:50
not going to believe in yourself
7:50
to have it to be able to get
7:53
there. So building the bridge
7:53
then becomes very scary, because
8:02
you don't know if the bridge is
8:02
going to be built. You don't
8:05
know if the bridge is going to
8:05
lead to the other side. Do you
8:09
see how this is then then you
8:09
almost don't even want to take
8:16
the first steps to build that
8:16
bridge. Now this is what I tell
8:21
all my students and my clients
8:21
and even potential clients, I
8:25
tell them this this thing, where
8:25
I say you can either be where
8:30
you are, and feel bogged down or
8:30
feel like you can't take the
8:36
next steps. Or you can say,
8:36
okay, what can I do about this?
8:43
What can I shift or change in my
8:43
way of thinking, feeling being?
8:48
What can I do differently in
8:48
order to have a different
8:52
outcome? Because unless you deal
8:52
with the trauma, and unless
8:57
you're willing to put the effort
8:57
into changing, nothing is going
9:02
to change, nothing changes if
9:02
you don't change anything,
9:05
right? That is the bottom line.
9:05
You can either continue on the
9:12
same trajectory, or you can say,
9:12
Okay, that didn't work then. But
9:18
I'm going to do something
9:18
different. I was watching my son
9:22
he is really into yo Yos these
9:22
days and he does a lot of
9:26
different tricks and the yo Yos
9:26
were using his yo yo and
9:32
and I was observing him and
9:32
watching like how does he do
9:36
with any takes he he practices a
9:36
lot without even knowing he is
9:42
not focused on the end result.
9:42
He's focused on just practicing
9:48
and practicing and practicing.
9:48
And then at one point I was
9:51
observing him and he was getting
9:51
a little frustrated with
9:54
himself. He was getting
9:54
frustrated that he wasn't
9:56
getting the particular move of
9:56
what he was Trying to get
10:01
towards. And, and that was an I
10:01
just, I was chatting with them.
10:05
I was asking him like what was
10:05
going on? And he's like he was
10:07
getting frustrated. And I said,
10:07
Okay, how about you use some of
10:10
the tools that we've talked
10:10
about? And these are very great
10:16
tools. And this is where I want
10:16
you to pay attention and take
10:18
notes on this. Okay. So one of
10:18
the tools I've taught him and
10:22
that I use for myself and bring
10:22
to my clients and students is
10:26
intention, your intent and your
10:26
intention. So our first thing we
10:33
do in our home is, what is your
10:33
intention? What intention Do you
10:38
want to set for this particular
10:38
thing? And he was in a very
10:43
frustrated mood that day. And so
10:43
he said, no intentions don't
10:48
work. It I've set my intention,
10:48
and it doesn't work. And I was
10:51
like, Okay, if you have that
10:51
attitude, what do you think will
10:54
happen? And he says, well, then
10:54
I won't get it. I won't get the
10:59
move that I'm trying to make. I
10:59
was like, okay, good that you
11:02
got that. So what can you shift?
11:02
So I said, Okay, I can set an
11:06
intention. And then we have a
11:06
second step to this, which is
11:09
visualizing the outcome that you
11:09
want. And so I told him, Can you
11:15
visualize what is the move that
11:15
you're wanting to make with
11:18
this? So he said, Okay, I can do
11:18
that. So we took a minute, he
11:22
said his intention, and we any
11:22
any visualize what he was
11:26
wanting to achieve. And then he
11:26
tried it, again, for the
11:33
probably 100 100 time, or, I
11:33
don't even know, like 500 time
11:37
because he was really working at
11:37
this particular move for a while
11:41
now. And then it worked. And
11:41
this is the key, like, so it
11:47
takes practice, it takes trial
11:47
and error, it takes holding your
11:52
intention, it takes sometimes
11:52
getting frustrated, and then
11:55
coming back to your center for a
11:55
desire to come to fruition.
12:00
Obviously, this is a very stupid
12:00
example, right? Like on a large
12:04
scale of things, who cares about
12:04
the yo yo and all that, but I
12:07
want you to be able to see in
12:07
the from the eyes of a 10 year
12:12
old, they want you to be able to
12:12
see from the eyes of a office of
12:17
a set of a child who can who's
12:17
learning the ways of life, and
12:23
who's coming at it from a place
12:23
of curiosity, how often we lose
12:28
that because of conditioning.
12:28
This is where the trauma
12:32
happens. And this is where
12:32
unless you work through the
12:35
trauma, you will continue to
12:35
spin your wheels. And the
12:39
question then for you is are you
12:39
willing to continue to spin your
12:42
wheels? And what is that costing
12:42
you? Or are you willing to see a
12:47
different possibility, the
12:47
choice is yours. And before we
12:52
go any further, I'm going to
12:52
interrupt this this session, I
12:56
mean, this session, this this
12:56
episode, with a special
13:00
invitation to you. If you are
13:00
wanting to create a life, living
13:08
your dharma, living your life
13:08
purpose, and you're like, I am
13:12
not even sure where to start
13:12
with this. Or maybe you have an
13:15
idea, but you don't know how to
13:15
take it to fruition from start
13:18
to finish. Then I have a free
13:18
handbook for you. I have a free
13:23
handbook, which is which
13:23
basically is it was setting up
13:28
your the three steps to discover
13:28
your dharma. So setting up your
13:33
dharma in mind, but using
13:33
certain steps to actually create
13:38
it. So if you are willing to do
13:38
that, then I have a debt free
13:45
handbook that you can download
13:45
that's going to assist you in in
13:49
finding your path and be willing
13:49
to do the work. Like that's
13:54
where I'm inviting you all to
13:54
start. Okay, back to the
14:00
episode. Actually, before we
14:00
continue with the episode, the
14:05
best way to get a hold of the
14:05
handbook is to message me on
14:09
Instagram at Padma Ali, or you
14:09
can email me at Padma at Padma
14:16
ali.com. And me or my team will
14:16
get back to you and give you the
14:22
send you the handbook. So I'm
14:22
very, very excited to give you
14:26
that resource because I hear
14:26
from so many people, how do I
14:29
find my dharma? How do I find my
14:29
purpose? What am I here to do?
14:33
And it's an amazing question to
14:33
ask, because that then opens up
14:39
so many doors of like, what are
14:39
you here to do? What is my
14:42
purpose in this lifetime? And
14:42
it's all in that handbook. So
14:46
thank you. Okay, back to
14:46
desires. Okay, so let's now talk
14:54
about how do you bring your How
14:54
do you get in on board with your
14:59
desire to First is like saying,
14:59
Okay, is there anything getting
15:02
in the way of my desire, even
15:02
holding a desire? Because you
15:06
know, everything starts with a
15:06
vision. So if you're not even
15:10
allowing yourself to dream or
15:10
have a vision, how are you going
15:13
to get there? So allowing
15:13
yourself to dream, allowing
15:17
yourself to have a vision, and
15:17
then asking yourself, Is there
15:20
anything in me that is resisting
15:20
that? Is there anything in me
15:24
that saying I can't have it? And
15:24
then that is where the digger
15:28
digger deeper work comes in, you
15:28
have to dig deeper into what are
15:34
the the trauma, what is the
15:34
unconscious beliefs, what are
15:39
what is really, truly holding
15:39
you back. And this is what I
15:42
cover in my program, the Livia
15:42
purpose program, we have some we
15:47
have, I have given so many
15:47
modules and specific tools on
15:52
uncovering the trauma and
15:52
working with it. And this is
15:55
what I do with my students.
15:55
Because unless you work with
16:00
that, then you're going to
16:00
continue repeating the patterns,
16:04
okay? So learn to or allow
16:04
yourself to go into it. And it
16:10
doesn't have to be heavy, does
16:10
not heavy, actually, it's very
16:13
light, once you do the work,
16:13
once you're in it, like maybe in
16:17
the as you're in it, it might
16:17
feel very heavy. But as you work
16:22
through it, it is going to give
16:22
you so much feeling of freedom
16:26
and lightness. So being on board
16:26
with working through the trauma
16:33
is going to be such an such a
16:33
key factor for you. And you
16:38
know, with my skill sets on in
16:38
from psychology, like doing the
16:42
work that I've done for so many
16:42
years on, in as a therapist,
16:48
this is where all that comes
16:48
handy. And then when I think
16:51
back, like you know always
16:51
wonder like, wow, what made me
16:54
even choose to be a therapist.
16:54
And it was actually to work
16:57
through my own trauma. If I'm
16:57
very honest with myself, my own
17:01
trauma actually drove me to be a
17:01
therapist, because I knew
17:05
somewhere deep down like I had
17:05
to do this deeper work. And then
17:08
when I worked through some of
17:08
those things, now that this work
17:11
ever ends, I just lost interest
17:11
in doing the work as a
17:15
therapist. And instead this,
17:15
this path became more clear to
17:19
me. Because in doing this work,
17:19
I'm able to not only do the
17:23
deeper work, but I'm able to
17:23
help my students take go to a
17:27
higher level of what they're
17:27
really here to do. And what are
17:31
they what are your desires. And
17:31
if and those desires don't
17:34
often, okay, don't only have to
17:34
be about your work in the world.
17:39
It can be about your own
17:39
personal desires, your desires
17:44
for your family, all of that is
17:44
important. Any desire is
17:48
important. Because when you work
17:48
with your desire, even one
17:51
desire, it shows you what's
17:51
possible for your life. And How
17:55
incredible is that? Right? In
17:55
Can you even imagine? When you
18:00
fulfill your own personal
18:00
desires, so much more is going
18:04
to open up for you in what you
18:04
want to do in the outside world.
18:07
Because if you're struggling
18:07
with basic survival things like
18:12
Okay, going to your job or
18:12
making money, then your brain is
18:17
not going to allow you to think
18:17
about bigger picture stuff.
18:22
Okay. So this is where doing the
18:22
inner work is going to allow you
18:27
to manifest your own little
18:27
world desires. And then you can
18:33
step into higher desires, like
18:33
what you're really truly here to
18:37
do in the world. So that is my
18:37
invitation to you. Let's start
18:42
with that. So what I'm going to
18:42
have you do, okay, so as a
18:45
recap, get clear about your
18:45
desire your dreams. And if
18:50
you're having a hard time doing
18:50
that, or even if you know what
18:53
you want to do, then ask
18:53
yourself what is holding you
18:56
back. That is an important
18:56
piece. And then let's build a
19:01
bridge and building the bridge
19:01
again, sometimes you need that
19:05
support and help. I just did a
19:05
video on Instagram about one of
19:10
my clients who was in a tech job
19:10
and she really loved her work.
19:16
She did amazing with it. But
19:16
then she had she wasn't feeling
19:20
very fulfilled with it. And from that time, to where she
19:23
is now where she just started
19:28
her own business, doing organic
19:28
food. She's She sells organic
19:35
foods, spices and all that it
19:35
took her 18 months to get to
19:39
that place. And that's that. I'm
19:39
not saying that's going to be
19:44
your life, but sometimes it
19:44
happens that way. And to give
19:48
yourself permission to build a
19:48
bridge and we worked on building
19:52
that bridge. It took time to get
19:52
there and you can too but
19:56
building that bridge is key and
19:56
I can show you how How to build
20:00
that bridge. Okay, so again, it
20:00
doesn't have to be about just
20:04
your dharma or your life
20:04
purpose, it can be about your
20:07
own personal desires, but you
20:07
need to build that bridge.
20:11
Sometimes we can't just jump and
20:11
expect to land on the other
20:15
side. When you build the bridge,
20:15
the bridge from where you are to
20:20
where you want to go, that is
20:20
going to allow you to get there.
20:25
And it can happen, it will
20:25
happen. I have living proof of
20:30
so many of my clients and
20:30
students doing that. I am my own
20:33
proof of doing that for my own
20:33
life. And I can show you how. So
20:39
anyways, so here is my
20:39
invitation to you follow me on
20:43
instagram if you're not already
20:43
doing that. And also share this
20:47

20:51
to live their dreams, everybody
20:51
living their dreams is is when
20:57
you live your dreams, it's so
20:57
inspiring. And that's what my
21:02
desire is for you. So with that,
