What if I told you that building career confidence doesn’t always have to happen at work?

If you’ve known me awhile, you know that I love to talk about building confidence. My favorite way to think about confidence is that it’s like a muscle. We have to constantly work on it, develop it, and build it over time, action after action after action.

As a coach, I help women ambitious, savvy women build confidence so that they can go after their biggest, boldest dreams–and those dreams usually have something to do with their careers. So, it might strike you as odd that this episode has everything to do with building career confidence, but nothing to do with going to work.

A few years ago, I was majorly stuck in figuring out what to do next in my career. I had left a long career that wasn’t fulfilling anymore, but I was entirely unclear about what I needed to do next. My confidence as a professional, driven woman was at an all time low.

Then, confidence struck me in the MOST unexpected place. And that’s what this episode is all about. I’m sharing my story about finding the confidence and the answers I was looking for, but in a place I wasn’t looking for them. And that’s the thing. Sometimes the clarity and confidence we’re looking for is right in front of us, but it’s hiding where we least expect it.

I hope my story inspires you to look at the ways you’re building confidence in your life outside of work that will fuel the badass woman you are in your career. For me, it took finding a place I could feel comfortable experimenting, learning, trying, failing, and growing. And at the end of the episode, we talk about what that could look like for you, too.
