This was a fascinating and aggravating story. The creativity was powerful and surreal, and I loved wondering where the story was going to go. I liked that the main character's lack of morals was so extreme that even as a reader I was afraid of them, and I really wanted to see them stopped. It's hard to write a character who is horrid but not repellent to the reader, and I respect the accomplishment. This was the rare story where Baker's halting and uneven narration added nuance to the character. Her strangely deadpan and misaccentuated reading style made the main character even more eerie and alien.
