Why Black Unity? Last year marked the 60th year since the march on Washington. Unlike a lot of Black Americans, I was blessed with a really good school and grew up hearing about great black leaders the likes of Fredrick Douglas, Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, Hank Aaron, Martin Luther King, and Malcolm X and their struggles to be heard.
The list extends on and on into the modern-day where it culminated with the country witnessing a Black American reaching the highest level of authority in America, The President of the United States.
But after that, I was like what else? Something I often heard, throughout my lifetime; we need Black Unity. I guess the question is, does achieving the rank of President negate the need for Black Unity? I say nay, there are still bastions of poverty and crime that we all know exist that need to be fixed.
