Here at KPN we are excited to launch our second podcast, Child and Youth Care Reflections. Kibble Education and Care Centre is, first and foremost, a provider of services for at risk children and young people. Founded in 1859, Kibble has helped young people build a brighter future for over 150 years. Today we offer a range of services including residential care, a safe centre for the most at risk children and an open school for children with complex needs. The quality of care that we provide is amongst the best in Scotland, and we feel passionately about helping disadvantaged young people create better lives for themselves.
While it is paramount that we continue to help and support at risk young people, it is equally as important that people who work on the frontline share their knowledge and stories. The child and youth care sector is extremely important to our society, and the only way we can improve it is by ensuring that those providing the services to young people are doing so to the best of their abilities. One way to ensure this happens is for people to share their knowledge and stories with each other.
This podcast is a repository for those stories, and for sharing these practice hints and tips. As an organisation that has worked in this sector for years, we know just how busy people can be and how big caseloads can become. It can be difficult to balance one’s personal development with meeting the day-to-day demands of one’s daily workload.
By offering short podcasts with those who work in the field, and conversations with people who are working directly with young people at risk, we aim to provide engaging, fulfilling content that not only imparts some wisdom to child and youth care workers, but also helps further their personal training and development.
