Like Life as a Gringo with DJ

0:40

Dramos. It's like we have

0:42

to unlearn, as we do

0:44

in every other part of our lives, but

0:46

financially unlearn a lot of the

0:48

BS that we were taught that holds us

0:50

back from getting the

0:52

sort of lifestyle that we want and being able to

0:55

live the comfortable, financially

0:57

free lifestyle that I'm sure

1:00

all of us are striving for. So I

1:02

love conversations like this one that go beyond just sort

1:04

of the dollars and cents and strategies

1:07

in the literal sense as far as

1:09

investing or saving goes. Like a good

1:11

neighbor, Stay Farm is there. Stay

1:14

Farm, proud partner of myCultura Podcast

1:16

Mutant Ninja Turtles. Heroes in

2:39

2:41

2:51

2:54

can watch this gorgeous video every week.

2:56

Our guest today is rocking a beautiful

2:58

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt. And

3:00

if you don't know who our guest is here

3:02

today, he's a man of many names. You might

3:04

not know that his last name is actually Mitchell

3:06

because you might know him as the DJ

3:09

J G MTV, the

3:11

most famous handle,

3:14

maybe the most famous Twitter handle in

3:16

the history of the challenge mania podcast.

3:18

You know him of course, from seasons

3:20

past real world explosion and all that

3:22

fun stuff. But he just made his

3:24

triumphant return for all-star season four, which

3:27

dare I say has redeemed him in

3:29

the eyes of many challenge maniacs. So we

3:31

are thrilled to have on his debut episode,

3:34

Mr. J G. How

3:36

are you brother? My God, that

3:38

was one heck of an intro. Oh

3:40

my God. I

3:43

like this. You can just do this to me all

3:45

the time. That'd be fantastic. Thanks. Well,

3:47

before we get started, which turtle are you?

3:49

Which Ninja Turtle are you? If

3:52

I had to be, I would go with Raphael. But

3:55

let's let everybody know who you actually have

3:57

on the t-shirt. KC.

4:00

K.C. Jones baby. K.C. Jones right here.

4:02

The man, the myth, the legend

4:04

behind the mask. I

4:06

love going back to our childhood, man. Oh God,

4:08

me too. It's so different nowadays, bro. So

4:11

Jay, go ahead. No, well, and that's

4:13

kind of where we are. Like, I feel like I'm

4:16

here for Jay's story time. Like, I feel like Jay

4:18

was part of our childhood at

4:21

some point. Like, one hit

4:24

wonder song guy, right?

4:27

Like he was there for a quick second.

4:29

Made a big splash and

4:32

to just like never return again. Right?

4:35

Like by splash, I mean, like he threw the

4:37

drink on the floor. Yeah, I was gonna say a one hit

4:39

wonder. A one hit wonder is like that thing you do. Jay's

4:42

first go around was that thing you wouldn't drink.

4:45

And I think for years and years, we didn't

4:47

know if you'd ever have a chance to

4:49

redeem yourself or even put yourself out there to

4:52

be looked at in a different challenge light. So

4:54

thank goodness for all stars. Thank goodness that it

4:56

made it four seasons all the way up to

4:58

the point where you were able to do it. We

5:01

know you're very busy as a fireman these days, but you know,

5:03

since this is your first time on the show, we like to

5:05

go all the way back, Jay. I know you've probably done

5:07

a couple of interviews since exiting all stars

5:09

four that have probably just talked to you

5:11

about this season. But when you do your

5:13

first, your maiden voyage here at challenge mania,

5:15

we want to go all the way back

5:17

and get the casting story because I think

5:19

something that people forget, Jay, is

5:22

that you were the cast member on

5:24

real world explosion. Jenna was your explosion.

5:26

And of course, Jenna goes on to

5:28

become this household name in the challenge

5:30

world and does a dozen seasons and

5:32

has this relationship with Zach and everything

5:35

like that. Derek met his

5:37

now wife through Jenna. So if

5:39

it wasn't for you, in a

5:41

roundabout way, D, your child, your

5:43

child that was just born three

5:45

weeks ago, D, would not exist

5:47

if it wasn't for Jay. I

5:49

know. Wow.

5:51

Mind blown. Thank you, Jay. I

5:54

didn't know that. Yeah. All

5:56

because of you. I didn't

5:58

know that. That is, that's. amazing. I've

6:01

created so many relationships. Let's

6:04

just clarify. I have created

6:06

many relationships apparently. Yeah,

6:09

I mean, let's go back

6:11

to 2014. Back when

6:13

I think TRL was

6:16

still around. I could be wrong. I don't think it was,

6:18

I don't think the first TRL was around. It might have

6:22

been like one of their three attempts

6:24

to bring it back with like Matt

6:26

Rife or something. But yeah, Carson Daly

6:28

had moved on to like the Today

6:30

Show by then or whatever he does.

6:32

Good morning America. But yeah. But there

6:34

were still like shows on MTV back

6:36

then. Sure. The Hills, the Hills, the

6:39

this, the that, the whatever. Yeah. Season

6:41

29, real world explosion.

6:44

The season before that was real

6:47

world Portland with Jordan and

6:49

Naya and the real world after

6:52

Jay was real

6:55

world skeleton season 30. This

6:58

was the theme era of the real world.

7:00

Portland was the last one that they just

7:02

named after a city. And someone, someone said,

7:04

look, we're getting too boring. Just putting seven

7:06

people in a house. We got to have

7:08

a twist, right? We got to do something.

7:10

We got to show you this first twist

7:13

twist. Yeah. So

7:15

what were you doing in your life in 2013? Probably

7:18

at that time, did you audition? And when you were

7:20

auditioning, were they asking you a lot of questions about

7:22

like your girlfriend at the time? And you were thinking,

7:24

why do you care so much about my girlfriend? I

7:26

thought you only want me. How did

7:28

this come about back then? Yeah, it's, it's

7:30

crazy to think that it was that far

7:33

in the past. Like, my God,

7:35

I was, it was so long

7:38

ago. That's, it's incredible. And that opened

7:40

so many doors for me, man. But I'll actually,

7:42

I'll give you guys a great

7:45

story on how

7:47

I even went and

7:49

showed up to this casting call. So I did go

7:51

to a casting call that had a casting

7:53

call in Manhattan. So at

7:55

the time, I was just running a bunch of bars,

7:57

running a bunch of clubs, right? I was MC and

7:59

DJ doing. and all that, but I

8:01

was managing multiple, multiple

8:03

bars, multiple clubs, it was great. I was having

8:05

a grand old time, I was young, I was only

8:07

25 at the time. And

8:10

my mother got some

8:12

random email, somehow I don't understand

8:15

how, that was like real world

8:17

casting call in Manhattan, in

8:20

two weeks. And so she

8:22

sends it to me and she's like, you should do

8:24

this. And I'm like, what are you

8:26

saying, Ma? You don't want me on TV,

8:29

believe me. And she's just

8:31

like, no, like you're always introducing

8:33

all these big celebrities. And like, we had

8:35

real world people at our bars and clubs,

8:37

like we paid them to do appearances. That

8:39

was a big thing back then. So

8:42

I had done that. I was introducing, you know,

8:44

big time singers and everything like that. So I'm

8:46

more than- Do you remember any of the real

8:48

world people who came through? And

8:51

then we got a name drops from celebrities. Yes,

8:54

Adam Larson. Oh,

8:56

wow. Yes,

8:58

yes. What are the odds

9:00

of that? That I watched this dude on

9:02

TV, hired him to come

9:04

do a club called Dublin in Long

9:06

Island. And then 20 years

9:09

later, whatever it may be, here I

9:11

am competing side by side with him.

9:13

Wow. It was incredible.

9:15

And it's just, it's so weird, bro. So

9:18

weird to be on this end of things

9:20

now. And then were

9:22

there any more real world or road rulers

9:24

that came through or that you

9:27

had come through? I think

9:29

we had, I think Wes had come down at one

9:31

point and done something. I

9:33

believe, I think

9:35

CT was part of something. He was part

9:37

of like, they had a couple people

9:40

at once come down and I think CT was involved.

9:43

I don't remember exactly, but I do remember Adam.

9:45

And that's the funniest thing about it is that

9:47

I got to now compete with him. It's

9:50

so crazy to me. And then

9:52

what he wants to know, cause he's a star fucker,

9:54

he wants to know, I'm kidding. He doesn't, he won't

9:56

even know part of the names you say, but I'm

9:58

not. I'm

10:00

a star phone baby. What are this?

10:02

Who named me a celebrity? So like

10:04

Adam Larson's on a Tuesday. We had

10:07

like popular singers back then. So like

10:09

when Lucas Prada was big and Reina

10:11

was big and like all those names,

10:13

like we had those up and comers

10:15

that were just getting on radio stations.

10:17

Like their first song debuted on

10:19

the radio. So like we got them

10:21

right away. Right. You're trying

10:24

to get good bang for your buck. You want them

10:26

like one song in before their rate is like 50

10:28

grand. Exactly. Lucas Prada had that. Yeah, yeah,

10:31

yeah. And it was like the whole world

10:33

just running around singing that song. So we

10:35

were like, boom, let's get them on before

10:37

it explodes. And we did. And it

10:39

all worked out. So we just kept getting those

10:41

new and up and comers. So our pictures were

10:43

always people that then went on to become crazy

10:45

famous. But I got them right as they did

10:47

like their first debut song that like finally landed

10:49

on the radio and stuff. Well, there's probably some

10:51

people that took pictures of you that didn't turn

10:53

famous who now you're the famous one. And they're

10:55

like, look, see the guy who introduced me? That's

10:57

JG. He was on real world. Yeah,

10:59

I've had I've actually had that happen

11:02

once. Yeah. So, OK.

11:04

So where what the celebrity is like,

11:06

damn, I should have took a picture with you.

11:09

That's what I had Sean

11:12

Patrick Flannery. Oh, Sean Pat

11:14

one half of the boondock saying boondock things. One

11:16

of my top favorite movies

11:18

boondock things. Yeah. And

11:20

it's a thing where I had gone to

11:22

like a convention paid to have

11:25

a picture with him. And then years

11:27

later, I got a real world

11:29

explosion. I was at a

11:31

convention signing autographs, walked into

11:33

the room with the Walking Dead, which they also

11:35

because Norman Reedus was there, they had, you know,

11:38

Sean Patrick Flannery like the boondock Saints cast as

11:40

well. They shared a room. And I

11:42

walked in and I was like, dude, I always

11:44

love this guy. And he gets up Sean Patrick

11:46

Flannery stands up on the table and he's like,

11:48

JG, get over here. And I'm

11:51

just like, oh my God. And I was with Gina

11:53

Marie from Big Brother at the time. And we just

11:55

looked at each other. I'm like, what is happening? I

11:57

walk over, he's on a table. I'm like, I don't

11:59

know. I don't give a shit, like I'm in,

12:01

let's go. So I stand on the table. And

12:04

now we're both standing on the table in

12:06

each other's faces and he's like, bro, I'm

12:08

your biggest fan. I watched Real World Explosion.

12:10

Like, is that real? Like did this happen?

12:12

Did Corey and Brian like really fight? And

12:14

he's asking me all these questions standing on

12:16

a table. And then everyone in the room

12:18

is packed, going crazy. Norman Reedus walks over,

12:20

looks up with us and he's like, what

12:22

the hell are you two doing? And

12:24

he just looks down and he's like, bro, I watch him

12:27

every week on Real World. And I'm like, what

12:29

is happening? Like I was on cloud nine and

12:31

I'm showing him a picture that I took with

12:33

him years past, like years ago. And

12:36

then he's like, bro, can I take a picture with you? Can I take a picture with

12:38

you? And I'm like, yes, please.

12:40

Like, and he posted it

12:42

on Twitter, the picture of us and was

12:44

like chilling with my boy Jay from MTV's

12:46

The Real World. And I'm like, oh my

12:49

God, like what just happened? Now I'm taking

12:51

pictures with all the cast of The Walking

12:53

Dead just because I'm on a table with

12:55

Sean Patrick Flannery. One of the

12:58

most incredible encounters I've ever had in my

13:00

life. It was- Why are you

13:02

speaking Derek's language? He loves The Walking Dead.

13:04

Bro, it was nuts. It was nuts. And

13:06

you're talking hundreds of dollars to take a

13:08

picture with someone like Norman Reedus. And

13:10

now we're standing on a table, the three

13:12

of us taking pictures. And I'm like, oh

13:14

my God, like what just happened? Who am I?

help you realize your dreams on our

14:24

14:26

DJ Dromos. The mindset work that

14:28

it takes to retrain your brain to believe

14:31

that you are someone who can obtain anything

14:33

you want financially and hit all of those

14:35

financial goals, and that the only thing holding

14:37

you back is yourself. I love how she

14:40

talks about just demanding how much you believe

14:42

you're worth, how much you wanna make, and

14:45

how you have to make that declaration for

14:48

yourself, like demanding, this is the amount of money

14:51

I believe I can make that

14:53

my threshold is, and

14:55

you have to declare that for yourself.

14:57

Like a good neighbor, Stay Farm is

15:52

BMW, the ultimate electric driving

15:54

machine. The

15:58

BMW i4 M50. I

16:00

know one. I knew one. I knew one. That

16:05

was like, that's my star struck story and

16:07

I love it. It

16:09

was incredible. I will never forget that. And I have

16:11

the screenshot of him posting the picture of us. So

16:13

that's the best part. So your mom recommends that you

16:17

I need that picture. I need that picture. So

16:19

your mom recommends that you audition for

16:21

the real world. Doesn't, doesn't jump

16:23

out of you as a good idea of time, but clearly it was.

16:25

That's what I was thinking. So walk us through

16:27

the process then. So it ends up being

16:29

like a Sunday morning or something. I

16:33

had to go to someplace in Manhattan. I wake up.

16:35

I'm out the night before at the club drunk wasted. I

16:39

wake up. I'm still hammered. I am so hungover. I'm

16:43

like, no, like, no, mom, I'm not doing

16:45

this. Like I'm not going. She starts screaming at me

16:47

on the phone. Like you get your ass up and

16:49

you get over there. And I'm like,

16:51

please don't do this. I'm like, I'm not doing this. I'm

16:54

not going. I'm like, No, no, no, no, no, get over

16:56

there. And I'm

16:58

like, please don't make me do this. She's like, get dressed,

17:00

get up and get there. I'm like,

17:03

all right, mom, I got you. Like, I'll do it. Your

17:06

mom's like, I know you. I know you better than

17:08

you know your son to go to this casting call.

17:11

Okay. You drunk ass. And

17:14

get on TV, 100%, 100%. It

17:16

was like my mother knew what was going to happen in

17:18

the future because

17:20

it all plays out. And then so I get up and I get my car,

17:23

I drive, I drive there. And I get

17:25

to like the block, there's a line down the

17:27

block, right? And there's these two

17:29

gigantic double doors. So I'm

17:31

looking for parking. I drive around the block, drive

17:33

around the next block, drive around the next block.

17:35

I come back, drive around, I'm driving for like

17:37

20 minutes. Call my mother up and I'm like, Ma,

17:40

I came, I can't find parking. You know

17:42

how Manhattan is. I've been driving around for a half

17:44

an hour. Like, I'm going home, please. Like, I'm going

17:46

home. She's like, just do me a favor.

17:48

Go around the block one more. Just look one more time,

17:50

please. I'm like, all right,

17:53

fine, whatever. So I stay

17:55

on the phone when I go around the block. I turn the

17:57

corner as I turn the corner. a

18:01

car parked directly in front of

18:03

the gigantic double doors pulls

18:06

out of the spot. And I

18:08

just turned and I literally was just like, oh

18:10

my God, I'm like, how does

18:12

that happen? So I'm like, all

18:14

right, I got a spot, ma, directly in front of

18:17

the double doors that I need to go in magically

18:19

somehow, I don't understand it. So

18:21

I park my car, I go

18:23

in, there's a huge line, but

18:26

I had always done the clubs and stuff, so they sent

18:28

me like a VIP pass, whatever, right? So I go to

18:30

the front and I'm like, all right, I have this and

18:33

they're like, yeah, you gotta wait

18:35

online. I'm like, yeah, I'm not waiting online. Like

18:37

I'll just leave and then someone else was like, you

18:40

have like, you do all the bars in Westchester. And

18:42

I'm like, yes, I do. And he was like, all

18:44

right, just come this way. So I'm

18:46

like, all right, cool. I go into this room

18:49

filled with a thousand people, fill out 75 pages

18:51

worth of paperwork, go into an

18:53

interview, do this interview. There's like

18:55

nine people at a table, like you're sitting at

18:57

a round table and they

18:59

ask you like, just give us, you know, 30

19:01

seconds about yourself. I don't even,

19:03

I couldn't tell you what I said. I swear on everything,

19:05

I have no idea what I said. I do not remember,

19:07

I was so hungover. They're like, I'm laughing

19:09

at people, people are getting up saying weird things and I'm just

19:11

sitting there and I'm like, oh my God, I'm like, this is

19:14

such a waste of my time. Like you're the weirdest people I've

19:16

ever met. Like it's just so strange.

19:18

I just, I don't get it. And

19:20

then at the end they're like, all right, everyone, you know,

19:22

we'll keep your phones on, we'll call you tomorrow, but Jay,

19:24

just we gotta ask you one question real quick. I'm like,

19:26

all right, I get up and they're like, congratulations,

19:28

you're going to the next step. And I was like, oh

19:31

shit. So if you just lied to everyone at

19:33

that table, then that's what I got from that. And they're like, yeah,

19:35

pretty much, awesome. So

19:38

they do, it was six

19:40

months worth of a process.

19:42

Like every two weeks they would call me

19:45

and be like, we need to Skype

19:47

five of your friends. I'm like, all right,

19:49

here's five people, Skype them. The next,

19:51

like then they would knock people out. So I had

19:53

like 300 people and they're like, they

19:56

would knock 50 out. Then the next week

19:58

they'd be like, all right, give us three friends. we wanna

20:00

call them on the phone. So I do that.

20:02

They would knock 50 people out. Like that's how they

20:04

dwindled the list. It got to the point where I

20:06

was like, I don't have any more friends left bro.

20:08

Like what? How, I'm running

20:10

out. I'm running out of girls to give you. I'm running out of

20:12

friends. And it was always friends or did they ever ask for exes

20:15

or girls running out of time? They spoke to my parents.

20:17

They spoke to my neighbors. They never

20:19

spoke to my ex, to any of

20:22

my knowledge. But they had made us

20:24

on one of the in-person interviews bring

20:26

pictures of your last three exes. And

20:29

they asked you questions. They asked all of my

20:31

friends and everybody that they called at Skype, a

20:34

million and one questions about me. They wanted to get

20:36

to know me without hearing it from me. Cause I

20:38

can get up there and just spit a whole bunch

20:40

of shit and whatever it is, it is, I can

20:42

lie my face off. So they talked to fucking

20:44

like 20, 30 of my friends to

20:47

find out about me and put

20:49

it all together without hearing it from me. So they

20:51

all brought up my exes. They obviously asked them all

20:53

about exes. The one like in-person interview I had to

20:55

do, I had to bring pictures of my exes. So

20:58

they asked all these questions. And I'm

21:00

like, yeah, fine. Like I'm 25. I peed

21:02

on this girl when I was 21. It is what

21:04

it is. Like now I'm talking to these two girls,

21:06

like whatever, whatever. They go so

21:08

in depth in all of the interviews that

21:10

it never crossed my mind that they were

21:12

gonna use it against me in the future.

21:15

Cause they asked a million questions. They

21:17

knew everything, every ounce of my life,

21:20

they knew basically. And your defense also,

21:22

they've never done like a really a

21:24

twist at all other than maybe, I'm

21:27

trying to think like, no, I

21:29

mean, exes had shown up at stuff, but kind of

21:31

more cause they were in the city or whatever, or

21:34

like, you know, the relationship was still kind of working

21:36

itself out, but they had never done anything like this.

21:38

So there's really no reason other than if like five

21:40

of your friends had said, hey, they keep asking me

21:43

about Kendra or whatever. But it sounds like if you

21:45

had multiple exes. So here's my next question.

21:48

Cause I feel like we've talked to Jenna

21:50

about this and maybe I'm wrong. And I

21:52

know I remember on the show itself, some

21:54

of this maybe had come out, but like

21:56

how serious were you guys? Was she like

21:58

your most sort of quote unquote important? X

22:00

at the time or was she kind of

22:02

like one of several and they probably chose

22:04

her because they liked her the most out

22:07

of the people that were given to them

22:09

by all your friends and things like that.

22:11

How do you think they found her? Was

22:13

it out of importance to you or lacked

22:15

her up or was it just she's the

22:17

best casting choice among your dozen X's as

22:20

you said you got around at that age?

22:22

Hold on. Yes. Didn't

22:24

you have like a Monday girl,

22:26

Tuesday girl, Wednesday girl, Thursday, Friday,

22:28

Saturday girl. You're like, hey,

22:30

Sunday girl. Stop listening to all that, all right? Oh, okay,

22:33

okay, okay. I don't know. Listen, and I had X's, 100%.

22:36

Those were like the main three, which by the way, Jessica

22:38

ended up on Are You The One, like

22:47

a year after I got on Real World. So

22:49

there's always that. But

22:52

they called Jessie and they called

22:54

Jenna because I found that

22:56

out later. But Jenna was my most recent.

22:59

She was my more serious. So

23:01

I think that was why they lean towards her. But

23:03

they did call Jessie as well. And Jessie was like,

23:06

because I was with Jessie for a

23:08

long time, a lot longer than I was with Jenna. Tuesday,

23:10

Wednesday, and Thursday, right? That was it. Yeah,

23:13

she was like, I think she was Tuesday.

23:15

She was Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Yeah, right.

23:17

Okay, wait. That's for real. Was

23:21

Kayla involved at all? I barely remember. Did you

23:23

and Kayla ever have a thing? No, no, no,

23:25

no, never with Kayla. I never met Kayla. You

23:27

never met? Oh, no, it

23:30

was Mikey P. Yeah. Had

23:32

a thing with Jenna. Yes. That's

23:34

the one. Then she cheated on Mikey

23:36

with Zach and then she

23:40

and then Kayla hooked up with Mikey. I don't

23:42

know. I'm getting my DJs. I'm

23:44

getting my DJs slash MCs is what

23:46

it is. That's

23:49

what it is. But did you legitimately have

23:51

like a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday girl and

23:53

then like a Friday girl? They made it.

23:55

No, they made it seem like a good

23:57

thing. They made it seem like that because

23:59

Jenna's one of Dennis Greifs was that like, Sunday

24:01

was like the day that we hung out.

24:04

We maybe hung out here and there during the week, but

24:06

like Sunday was the day and they're like, wow, you can

24:08

find her to one day a week. And it was like,

24:11

no, that way I worked, I had a like,

24:13

I also worked for Con Edison. I had a

24:15

real job. Con Edison is like, it's the electric

24:17

company around here. You were a con man. You

24:19

were a con man. Wow, I like that. I

24:21

like it. That was quick. That was quick. I

24:24

was like, I had a legit job like seven o'clock

24:27

in the morning until 3.30 in the afternoon. So you

24:29

were living the dream. You

24:31

got Jenny on Friday, Jessica on

24:33

Sunday, Jenna on Tuesday, Wednesday

24:36

was who was Wednesday? Beatrice. Did you take

24:38

the off? That's the name you chose Beatrice.

24:40

When did you, there's no

24:42

Beatrice. There's no 25 year old Beatrice in New

24:44

York in 2011. No.

24:47

But was there a day off? That's what it sounded

24:49

like. That's what it sounded like though. It was

24:51

like, you held these women in like, no, Sunday.

24:53

That's it. Monday, Tuesday. That's

24:56

it. That's what

24:58

you sounded like this guy. You sounded

25:00

like this. Sorry, go

25:03

ahead. Sorry, sorry. No, I'm saying they made it

25:05

seem so much worse than it really was. Like

25:07

I was trying, that was my way of saying

25:09

like, if I'm working the whole week, no matter

25:11

what, Sunday is like for you. That's our day

25:13

together, no matter what. And they're like, you can

25:16

find her to Sundays. That's it. It

25:19

sounds romantic, honestly. And let me just say

25:21

this. You were looking for love. You were

25:23

looking for love. You were casting a wide

25:25

net because you so desperately wanted to find

25:27

love. And you wanted to use every day

25:29

on your calendar that was available to you.

25:31

And Sunday, honestly, a great day for her. I

25:34

believe she probably starts the day on Sundays

25:36

going to church, if I already guess, right?

25:38

She's probably already dressed up, right? And you're taking

25:40

her to the finest Bennegans on Long Island.

25:42

Look, I'm telling you, people got you all

25:44

wrong, Jay. But no, you were

25:46

living the dream. You were living the club promoters dream

25:48

back then. Now in 2024. And

25:51

he was an electrician. Well,

25:53

the electricity was and continues to be palpable.

25:56

But so, okay, so let me ask you

25:58

this. ever

38:00

again, the only trace of MTV is left in

38:02

your Twitter handle. And then Jenna goes on to

38:04

a decade plus of being on MTV and now

38:06

has three kids with that guy. Okay. So I

38:08

want to talk, we'll talk about the juice and

38:10

the drink and all that, because that ends up

38:13

being this big moment that we said, like you've

38:15

now sort of redeemed yourself with that. But like,

38:17

was it as simple as that? Like, what is

38:20

the reason that we never saw you again after

38:22

that? And was it just like a career

38:24

trajectory, a life thing? Did they stop calling?

38:26

Walk us through that whole deal. So I'm

38:29

actually glad you asked this because for years,

38:31

and even now, I always went through this,

38:34

this whole period where everyone was like, they're never

38:36

going to call you again because you quit, they're

38:38

never going to call you again. Like you ruined

38:40

your chance. That's it for you. It's over. They

38:43

called me for the next five seasons. They

38:46

called me for every season after that. They did,

38:48

it was, um, so I think

38:50

the one immediately after that was where they brought the family

38:52

members in. Bloodlines. Bloodlines.

38:55

I think that was the one immediately after. And

38:57

I couldn't do it because my

38:59

brother had just became a cop. He

39:01

just got into the academy. He, so he couldn't take

39:03

the time off. So I was

39:05

like, all right, that's fine. Like I obviously

39:07

wanted to go back on and prove that

39:09

that drink situation wasn't who I am, but

39:12

I wasn't about to risk my brother's career on it. So

39:15

I had no choice but to say no to

39:17

that. Jenna was able to go on and

39:19

do it. She ended up going

39:21

on, like a lot, like you said,

39:23

she went on and did a lot of challenges, which I'm

39:25

very happy for her in that aspect. But

39:28

after Bloodlines was when

39:30

I was, I was hosting

39:32

spring break in South Padre Island and

39:35

I was with two guys that are from Are

39:37

You The One? And the challenge called me and

39:39

was like, Hey, we want you to come

39:41

do this next one. I was

39:43

like, all right, yeah, I'm available. Here, they

39:46

gave me the dates. 10 minutes later, the

39:48

fire department called me and said,

39:50

Hey, your entrance run is

39:52

on this date. And it was

39:55

the same day that they flew out. So

39:57

I remember being on the balcony and I called my father and I'm like, that

39:59

I don't know. I don't know what to do. Like I have a

40:01

chance to save, they don't save face, go back

40:03

on, you know, be famous and like all this

40:05

stuff, or I can get the dream

40:07

job that I've always wanted. Like I can't, he's

40:10

like, well, you make your decision, but I know you'll make the

40:12

right decision. I couldn't pass up being

40:14

a fireman. I couldn't do it. So

40:16

I declined that, I ended up calling back and declining

40:18

that season. They called me again as I

40:21

was starting the academy. So I obviously couldn't leave

40:24

because I was just starting the academy. They

40:26

called me again in the middle of the academy. And

40:28

then when I got out of the academy, they called me

40:30

again. And I said, I was like, what

40:32

am I gonna do? I just graduated the academy two days

40:34

ago. I'm gonna walk into my firehouse and be like, hey

40:37

guys, I'm Jay, I'm the new pro B. I'm

40:39

gonna leave for, you know, four months,

40:41

bye. So I was like, I

40:43

can't do it. I have no choice. And then

40:46

after that one, it was radio

40:48

silence. So I got called

40:50

for five immediately after, but I

40:52

had to turn them down. And then

40:54

after I turned down those five, they

40:56

never called me again until All-Stars 4.

41:00

Well, as you know, Jay, someone who got

41:02

around a bit in your twenties, that if,

41:04

you know, you get rejected five times, you

41:06

should probably stop calling, right? You would probably

41:09

like it if you rejected a girl five

41:11

times and finally she took the hint. Bro,

41:13

I, yeah, I'm not mad at them for

41:15

that. I had no choice. I had to

41:17

make a decision, you know? And I was

41:19

just thinking of my future, steady

41:21

paycheck, insurance benefits. Like I'm set for the

41:24

rest of my life. That was what I

41:26

chose. What's so ironic about this, and I

41:28

have to admit I am probably guilty of

41:30

doing this myself. I know a bunch

41:32

of our listeners are, potentially Derek as

41:34

well. The last time we see you

41:36

is you deciding not to drink the

41:38

drink. I forget the actual stuff

41:40

in there, the spoiled milk, the fish juice, whatever

41:43

it was. Obviously a little bit of teary eyes,

41:45

quitting, as you said, this is in the heat

41:47

of the TJ Lavin hating quitters. People are naming

41:49

their podcast, No Quitters. That it's as synonymous with

41:52

the challenges than anything. And I think you're as

41:54

big of a part of that as anybody, but

41:56

the fact that you're not on the challenge after

41:58

that is not because of that. It's because you're

42:01

trying to get a job doing one of

42:03

the most probably the most courageous job you

42:05

can have Firemen are look at

42:07

like complete heroes everywhere But certainly here

42:09

in the New York City area in

42:11

the New York State area So it's

42:13

I will say ironically I always I

42:15

didn't know that you were you know

42:17

at the time a probee or a

42:19

fireman or doing Anything going down that

42:21

path? I thought you were still DJ

42:23

and and just you know slinging it

42:25

out there and you know Five chicks

42:27

a week and whatnot meanwhile I'm

42:30

embarrassed now to to admit that you

42:32

were doing something way more badass than

42:34

the challenge and way more

42:36

heroic than drinking Spilt milk

42:38

so you know, please

42:40

accept our apologies, you know for not knowing

42:43

that that's the real reason I think

42:45

the question here is How

42:48

did you handle the backlash

42:51

and the online trolls? where

42:54

Scott Yeager may have Been

42:56

one of them. I think that's the

42:58

question here. It was Scott definitely

43:01

was Yeah,

43:04

like I could only imagine like like

43:06

you like that moment for

43:08

anybody Whoever it was gonna

43:11

be like especially cuz Jenna was

43:13

so like beloved at the

43:15

time They all blamed like you

43:17

yeah, Jenna's chances, right?

43:19

Right, right being the challenge

43:21

because you wouldn't What

43:23

cuz you wouldn't drink the drink or was

43:26

it you what was it really your

43:28

fault? Or was there some of like

43:30

Jenna that didn't want to drink the drink and didn't

43:32

want to climb the mountain also That's what

43:34

people want. No We've I've said

43:37

this before we've and we've had this

43:39

this debate in this conversation and They

43:42

portray it and I believe I

43:44

really do believe that they edited

43:46

more one way specifically because Jenna

43:49

was gonna be on the next season and I wasn't So

43:52

I think they edged it more towards that

43:54

because they knew she was coming right back

43:56

and I wasn't so we

44:00

She, it's funny, and you can ask her,

44:02

and I guarantee you she's not the type

44:04

that's gonna blow smoke or lie. She

44:07

had tried to stop on the

44:09

run like eight times, and I was like, I'll piggyback

44:11

you, get on my back, like we'll do this, we're

44:14

not gonna fail. But none of

44:16

that was shown. Then we get to

44:18

those drinks, FYI, we both drank about

44:20

seven pint glasses of that shit. You

44:23

had to drink seven to move on, we

44:25

drank about seven. The problem was that every

44:27

time you threw up, they refilled your glass.

44:30

You had to finish the glass completely before

44:32

you could move on to the next. If

44:34

you threw up before finishing the glass, they

44:36

refilled your glass. So I would

44:38

drink half, throw up, they would be like,

44:40

sorry Jay, refill it. Jenna would drink half,

44:42

throw up. They'd be like, sorry Jenna, refill

44:45

it. I would drink half. We just kept

44:47

going back and forth to the point

44:49

where production was literally like, I would

44:51

throw up and they're like, Jay, I'm so sorry, I have

44:54

to fill it up. And like by then, our

44:56

stomachs were loaded. What's

44:58

up? Electricity

has always been synonymous with power.

45:04

And in the BMW i4 M50, power

46:07

like we have to unlearn as

46:10

we do in every other part of our

46:12

lives, but financially unlearn a lot

46:14

of the BS that we were taught that

46:16

holds us back from getting

46:18

the sort of lifestyle that we want and being

46:20

able to live the comfortable, financially

46:24

free lifestyle that I'm sure all

46:26

of us are striving for. So I

46:28

love conversations like this one that go beyond just sort

46:31

of the dollars and cents and strategies

46:33

in the literal sense as far as

46:35

investing or saving goes. Like

Silence has never said so much. BMW,

47:30

the ultimate electric driving machine.

47:39

Loaded with all the fish, eggs, the oil, the

47:41

vinegar, the milk, the flies that were stuck in

47:43

it, like all of this stuff, the

47:46

ground up fish in 110

47:48

degree weather in Panama, don't forget. You

47:50

know what I mean? Like it's been sitting out there for two days.

47:52

Our stomachs were done. Like the

47:55

smell would make us throw up. So

47:57

TJ came down and said, you guys have 10 minutes to

47:59

finish. to seven glasses. And I

48:01

looked at her and I said, we've been here for two hours.

48:04

I said, can you drink all seven in the next 10 minutes?

48:06

And she was like, no. I said, neither can I. And

48:09

I remember telling her, like, I'll take the heat. I

48:11

said, if we can't do it, but

48:13

not knowing that it was gonna be this bad,

48:16

but also I wasn't doing it.

48:18

I was throwing up every time they were refilling

48:20

my glass and it got to the point where

48:22

TJ was like, all right, you guys have three

48:25

seconds left. Can you do it?

48:27

And I'm just like, you hear me ask

48:29

her. And I'm like, can you do it? And she's

48:31

like, no, can you? And I'm like, no, fine. And

48:33

I'm like, I'm the one who's like, we'll call it.

48:35

That's it. Like, we're done. We can't do it. No

48:38

one knows that we got timed out. That's the

48:40

most annoying part. No one knows that we drank

48:43

seven glasses of that nastiness. No one knows any

48:45

of that, but it is what it is.

48:47

And I've learned to just deal with it and know

48:49

my place as the guy who couldn't drink the drink.

48:51

It just, I've gotten used to it over the years,

48:53

but yeah, that was, there

48:55

was a lot that wasn't shown. I

48:58

just, I just can't imagine how much

49:00

you have possibly been like bullied over

49:03

the years and like just been

49:05

given shit over the years over

49:07

this thing. He's like, Mark man. My block list, I

49:10

don't think I can block anyone else anymore. Like I

49:12

think my block list is full. That's

49:14

how thick it was, bro. And MTV

49:16

did me so dirty. Cause you

49:18

hear us walking away. We're off camera for like

49:20

an hour. And then we were walking

49:23

and I'm just like, man, we're

49:25

going to get crushed on Twitter for this. Like as a joke

49:28

and they air that and they're like, Bing,

49:30

GG MTV, Bing, Jenna Capone on the screen.

49:32

And I was just like, I watched it

49:34

and I was like mother, Oh my God,

49:36

I'm, I'm screwed. Like they did

49:38

me dirty on that. And I got crucified

49:41

for every minute and every

49:43

day from that moment until now. You know,

49:45

it's funny. I was telling Derek before you

49:47

hopped on, you know, I've been watching the

49:49

challenge on Pluto TV while I'm on the

49:51

elliptical at the gym. And there's just like

49:53

finite, there's like maybe five or six seasons

49:55

where they decided to put your guys in

49:57

social media handles on the screens.

52:00

and drinks at Vice Whiskey Wine and Dine

52:02

for Challenge Mania's Buffalo Bash. Some of you

52:04

guys were with us last December for our

52:06

Buffalo debut. We are coming back and we're

52:08

coming back with slightly nicer weather. We've got

52:11

an awesome lineup to announce so far already.

52:13

Mark Long, Rachel Robinson, Aviv Velmet and guess

52:15

what? I've got a ton of challengers who

52:17

have personally already hit me up telling me

52:19

they want in on this. So this is

52:21

gonna be a huge lineup by the end

52:24

of it. It's gonna be a great eclectic

52:26

lineup by the end of it and you're

52:28

gonna want to get tickets. You're gonna want

52:30

to make sure you get them before they're sold

52:32

out. We're beginning with pre-sales this Monday the 24th

52:35

of June for diesel level patrons and Maniac level

52:37

patrons followed by the 25th for all patrons. That

52:39

all goes down to challengemaniacs.com. Whatever is left will

52:41

hit challengemania.live at 10 a.m. on Wednesday the 26th

52:43

of June but don't

52:47

wait till then. Make sure to get

52:49

those VIP tickets. It's gonna be a

52:51

hell of a lineup. Trust me, amazing

52:53

lineup that's already amazing with Rachel, Aviv

52:56

and Mark. Sunday, September 22nd in Buffalo,

52:58

New York. Any questions just email me

53:00

challengemaniapodcast at gmail.com. Alright, more with Jay. Here

53:02

we go. People

53:04

still to this day pointed out with you

53:06

or just anytime there's an eating challenge and

53:08

everything like that. Jennifer wants to know that

53:11

if on All-Stars 4 if TJ had presented

53:13

you at any stage of All-Stars 4 with

53:15

a toxic tuna concoction, would you have drank

53:18

it? And were you expecting him to maybe

53:20

do this at some point? To bring everything

53:22

full circle? Just to answer the

53:24

question straight off the get, yes 100%. I

53:26

will eat or drink anything

53:28

that is put in front of me. You can mock

53:30

my words on that MTV Paramount Plus. You can quote

53:33

me on that when I finish the drink on whatever

53:35

show if I ever do one again. Yes,

53:37

I will do it. I will never. It was

53:39

the worst experience of my life

53:42

because like I got tortured like

53:44

straight-up tortured for years. Even

53:46

when I got, when people found out I was going

53:48

on All-Stars 4, do you think I didn't get a

53:51

thousand times more hate on like how does

53:53

he deserve it? He doesn't deserve it. Like

53:56

I'm never watching this season now because he's

53:58

on it. Like. has

1:02:00

never said so much. BMW, the

1:02:03

ultimate electric driving machine. I

1:02:30

think also that MTV and your handle is funny. I

1:02:34

was talking about the handle. I remember that's kind

1:02:36

of what, uh, when we first started the podcast,

1:02:38

and I forget, I think we probably had Jenna

1:02:40

on or something. People were tagging you and again,

1:02:42

you're probably eating shit about the drink. You were

1:02:44

eating shit about the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday girl thing.

1:02:47

And I remember you responding and saying, I'm not

1:02:49

sure if you're talking about the drink. I'm not

1:02:51

sure. I'm not sure. I'm not

1:02:53

sure. I'm not sure. I'm

1:02:55

not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. And

1:02:58

I remember you responding and saying, I haven't been

1:03:00

on that show in six years or whatever it's

1:03:02

been. Why does everyone keep tagging me in this

1:03:04

shit or whatever? And

1:03:06

I just clap back and I said, like,

1:03:08

maybe take MTV out of your handle then

1:03:10

or something. And I remember that

1:03:12

being kind of the general sentiment at the time.

1:03:14

And I wonder, like, for yourself, I know the

1:03:17

answer, obviously, like you should keep that in your

1:03:19

handle, obviously. But like, was there ever

1:03:21

a thought to take it out? Like, obviously, you would

1:03:23

put it behind you in so many other ways and

1:03:25

you were getting nothing but hate. And as you said,

1:03:27

that handle is following you around every time somebody's watching

1:03:30

X's. What was the,

1:03:32

like, what was the instinct to keep it

1:03:34

a part of your name and your online

1:03:36

identity when it was giving you nothing but

1:03:38

backlash at that point in your life? Because

1:03:40

at that point, I had already dealt with

1:03:42

it for so long and

1:03:44

just gotten over it that it

1:03:47

became a way for me to get into everybody

1:03:49

else's skin. Right. The way you got, the way

1:03:51

you were like, well, maybe take it out. Jenny

1:03:53

went on like a rampage, like, you haven't been

1:03:55

on it six years. Get the MTV out of

1:03:58

your name. It doesn't belong on your name. It's

1:04:00

like the fact that you're not on it. that

1:04:02

I'm doing nothing and pissing you people off is

1:04:04

fucking amazing. I love it. It

1:04:06

was my way to give you a kick in

1:04:08

a dick without having to. It was fantastic. Cause

1:04:10

I was living my life and everyone else was

1:04:12

bent out of shape about what my handle was

1:04:14

on Twitter. Like, yeah,

1:04:17

it was great. I didn't care. It's

1:04:19

funny you mentioned Jimmy because we got, uh, Dave writes

1:04:21

in and says, if JGM TV, see he does, he's

1:04:23

calling you by your handle. If JGM TV ended up

1:04:25

on a future season where rivals was the theme and

1:04:28

Jimmy was his

1:04:32

partner, how does Jay think they would do? And

1:04:34

what is the origin story of their beef? Is

1:04:36

it one sided? So is it just as simple

1:04:38

as that? She started shitting on you on social

1:04:40

media or is there any sort of impetus there

1:04:42

other than that? Oh, I'll tell you exactly what

1:04:45

it was. And I have no hatred towards her.

1:04:47

I don't care. I clap back

1:04:49

at her because I have proof that

1:04:51

proves her wrong on things that she

1:04:53

says. So her

1:04:55

and I were friends. We talked prior to

1:04:57

going on X is two, right?

1:05:00

We had hung out once or twice, like as friends,

1:05:02

nothing more, but as friends, we had hung out. So

1:05:04

like we were actually friends. There's,

1:05:07

there's pictures of us like out together.

1:05:09

We watched the, the world cup was on at

1:05:11

the time and Argentina was playing a game. I

1:05:13

had posted that in retaliation of her saying that

1:05:15

I was following her around like following her and

1:05:17

I liked her and all this stuff. And I'm

1:05:19

like, well, yeah, we hung out together. Like here's

1:05:21

the video for everyone to see. I'm not sure

1:05:23

why you're trying to play. Like, I'm just following

1:05:25

you around. Like it was weird. So

1:05:27

I, it's on my Twitter. So I posted

1:05:29

it in retaliation to her, but like we

1:05:31

hung out. Then we got to the hotel

1:05:33

prior to filming and we were

1:05:35

cool. And she's like, so what happens with you and

1:05:38

Jenna? Like, are you guys going to team up against

1:05:40

us? Like, are we not friends now? And I'm like,

1:05:42

no, like, of course we're still friends. Right? The

1:05:45

flight to Panama, Jimmy

1:05:48

gets so box that she starts

1:05:50

throwing up on the plane, throwing

1:05:53

up on the plane. So

1:05:56

I as a gentleman and

1:05:58

running around getting towels. my

1:08:00

time to somebody that is such a terrible

1:08:02

person and has gone out of their way to disrespect

1:08:04

me in that manner. You know what I'm saying? What

1:08:07

if it was for a season of rivals, as Dave said,

1:08:11

Then I'd be screwed. I'm not going to, I'm

1:08:13

not going to quit, but Jimmy can't compete for

1:08:15

shit. We've seen it on every season. She's terrible.

1:08:17

So I'm screwed regardless. I'll go out there.

1:08:20

I will play nice. I will do my

1:08:22

thing and see where it takes me. I

1:08:24

will, I don't, I win, bro. That's, I

1:08:26

do my best to win. I am

1:08:28

good at these things. I can do

1:08:30

them. And if I can drag her ass along with me

1:08:32

for a win, I'm in. I don't care. She has to

1:08:35

win for me to win. Then let's do it. Listen

1:08:37

to me, do what I say. Let's work together

1:08:39

and we will make this happen. I'm good with

1:08:41

that. But if she's going to go around and

1:08:43

then, you know, sabotage and do all this, then it is what it

1:08:45

is. What am I going to do? You know what I'm saying? But

1:08:48

I have no hatred like that towards her. I just

1:08:50

don't respect her. I think she's a terrible

1:08:52

person. Uh,

1:08:55

speaking of plane rides to the

1:08:57

challenge, um,

1:09:00

those should be the pre episode

1:09:02

that should be like episode one, where

1:09:04

we're all like really meeting each other,

1:09:06

not where we're like meeting each other.

1:09:09

Right. Right. Exactly. We sat and had dinner at the airport.

1:09:11

We hang out on the, on the airplane. Then we go

1:09:13

to the hotels. Then we go in the house and it's

1:09:16

like, we've already spent seven days

1:09:18

together. And to be fair,

1:09:20

she's not the first or the last person that has

1:09:22

puked on the plane. Uh, because

1:09:24

I've seen that one, I've seen that

1:09:26

one, you know, probably, I don't

1:09:29

know, at least three or four out of my

1:09:31

13 travel. Absolutely. But I,

1:09:34

it was just, I did everything I could

1:09:36

to help her. And it

1:09:38

was like, how did all of a sudden you

1:09:40

have this hatred for me when I literally just

1:09:42

went nuts on this plane trying to help you?

1:09:44

Like it just didn't make sense. Man,

1:09:47

all this stuff is so good. And we're only

1:09:49

now just sort of, if we're going to get

1:09:52

there, getting to all stars four. And dare I

1:09:54

say it's because you play this pretty clean cut

1:09:56

game. Everyone seemed to like you, you know, again,

1:09:58

you redeemed yourself in the minds and hearts. of

1:10:00

all the challenge viewers, which no offense, that's kind

1:10:03

of boring podcast fodder. We are gonna get there,

1:10:05

but all this stuff, I'm so glad we've gotten

1:10:07

to, but we do have

1:10:09

to talk about All Stars 4. So

1:10:12

let's get to a question about why you ended

1:10:15

up doing All Stars 4. Let

1:10:18

me pull it up right here. Okay, so

1:10:20

this question's from Donna. Donna wants to know,

1:10:22

Jay, what made you decide to do All

1:10:24

Stars 4? After what happened last time you

1:10:26

were on the fans, now have a great

1:10:28

look out of you as a good competitor

1:10:30

and a nice guy. So would you do

1:10:32

the flagship again now? So talk

1:10:35

about what made you finally say yes to

1:10:37

All Stars 4, the experience you

1:10:39

had, and whether it's, you know, if

1:10:41

you've gotten bitten by the bug, the challenge bug, and wanna get

1:10:44

back out there now. Well, Donna, that

1:10:46

is a fantastic question. And I

1:10:48

love to answer this question because

1:10:50

it was radio silence for

1:10:52

eight years essentially. I

1:10:55

told you I got those five calls, but didn't do anything. So I haven't

1:10:57

been on it in eight years. I didn't think

1:10:59

I was ever getting a call again. That

1:11:02

ship sailed. And then out of

1:11:04

nowhere I get that phone call and they're like, yes,

1:11:06

for All Stars 4. And I was like,

1:11:08

and I said this big show, I believe they showed me saying it where

1:11:10

I'm like, like, I think you

1:11:12

have the wrong number. Like, I

1:11:15

am not, I don't belong on All Stars 4

1:11:17

based off of what you- There is another Jay,

1:11:19

by the way, but now. They could have by

1:11:21

accident called the wrong Jay. They just told some

1:11:23

intern, hey, get us Jay. And then they got

1:11:25

him. And they're like, wait, Jay has long hair.

1:11:27

Which fucking Jay did you get? Yeah, I was

1:11:29

like, I think you got the wrong one here.

1:11:31

Like someone made a mistake somewhere. And you're like,

1:11:33

no, no, like it's you. So

1:11:35

I'm just like, I don't get it. I don't understand

1:11:37

it. This has to be a setup, right? That's why

1:11:40

I say the first one's gotta be the drink. It's

1:11:42

gotta be a setup. But I

1:11:44

get it. I do get it because think

1:11:47

about eight years worth of hatred. Think about

1:11:49

how, like you said, my name, my

1:11:52

handle, how many people knew that, like

1:11:54

knew that name and how many people

1:11:56

want to see me fail, right? So

1:11:59

it does. make for decent TV

1:12:01

there are enough people that will watch

1:12:03

it because half the world wants

1:12:05

to see me succeed and prove everyone wrong and

1:12:07

the other half of the world wants to see

1:12:09

me fail again so they can continue their onslaught

1:12:12

so what half the world that

1:12:14

you still have the whole world watching like

1:12:16

it's a lot of people they're not rooting for

1:12:19

me they're mostly rooting against me but they're gonna

1:12:21

watch to root against me so I'm

1:12:23

like you know what it is a smart play

1:12:26

it is I get it all stars not

1:12:28

sure why all stars like again I

1:12:31

don't I didn't consider myself in all star when

1:12:33

I got that phone call I had done one

1:12:35

season I didn't do bad never came in last

1:12:37

wanted daily but the way I went out was

1:12:39

obviously one of the most horrendous exits ever so

1:12:43

it was like do I belong on all

1:12:45

source for no probably not to like to

1:12:47

the public or to what they

1:12:49

portrayed but do I

1:12:51

even want to do it you know

1:12:53

that's the question I have a real job

1:12:55

I can't just take off for six weeks

1:12:57

six weeks and leave my

1:12:59

vacation when they gave me the

1:13:01

dates lined up day-to-day

1:13:04

like they were like you're gonna leave on

1:13:06

the 12th and I was like my vacation

1:13:08

starts on the 12th wow

1:13:10

like that's weird and I'm

1:13:12

now in one of the best shapes I've ever been in

1:13:15

my life my vacation lines

1:13:17

up perfectly the money is

1:13:20

fantastic on all stars for let's just clarify

1:13:22

that one so I'm like I just

1:13:25

bought another house I could use

1:13:27

this money I can

1:13:30

get tortured some more because now it's gonna bring to

1:13:32

light who I am they're gonna obviously people are gonna

1:13:34

be like well who is this kid I don't know

1:13:36

him let's search him so it's gonna agree it's just

1:13:38

gonna bring back all the hatred it's gonna bring back

1:13:40

what I did previously so much do I really want

1:13:42

to drag myself down in the mud again like this

1:13:45

or I can go on and prove to everybody who

1:13:47

I know I am and what I know I'm capable

1:13:49

of doing so I talked to my

1:13:51

father I talked to a couple of my boys and I'm like

1:13:53

yo I want like I want

1:13:56

to do it to shut everybody up but

1:13:58

then I'm just bringing back all the heat from back then.

1:14:00

Like, do I want to do it? You know what I'm saying?

1:14:03

I was in such a debate for a while.

1:14:05

And then I stopped and I said, I've

1:14:08

watched this. I can beat half of these guys.

1:14:11

And it's funny, I am not kissing ass to

1:14:14

you, Derek, but I always said, like,

1:14:16

I felt like I'm, I compare

1:14:18

myself to Derek. He's smaller than a

1:14:20

lot of these guys, but the heart

1:14:22

he has, like he will fight anyone. And that was

1:14:24

me. And that's why I was like, I wanted to do

1:14:26

a physical elimination. Like, I want to do this shit. Because

1:14:28

I'm half the size of everybody there. And

1:14:31

I know I can hold my own. So I'm like,

1:14:33

you know what? It's time to

1:14:35

be the underdog. It's time to redeem myself.

1:14:37

Like, let's get out there and let's do

1:14:39

this shit. Let's put all this nonsense to

1:14:41

rest. Let's do it. And I called

1:14:43

them and I said, yeah, I'm in. Sign me up. And

1:14:46

I'm going to win this. And they were like, okay,

1:14:49

well, all right. Let's, let's do this

1:14:51

then. I'm like, yep, sign me up.

1:14:53

1:16:36

Bad ass. Um, I

1:16:38

think, I feel like your name started

1:16:41

like making its way to

1:16:43

the front of the challenge

1:16:45

God's table because they had

1:16:47

this like March madness bracket where they

1:16:50

did, uh, like best

1:16:52

moments in, in challenge history and

1:16:54

years in gen as I think I couldn't

1:16:57

be wrong. Like one, the whole thing, it

1:16:59

was either like, I didn't even know this.

1:17:01

It was either like Julie tries to kill

1:17:03

Veronica or Jay

1:17:05

or Jay puts the

1:17:07

challenge. Like those were like the

1:17:09

top two moments. I think that ended up going

1:17:12

to a particular kind of moment though. If those were

1:17:14

the last two, I'm pretty sure it wasn't like, you

1:17:17

know, that was the best moments

1:17:19

or was it like most cringe or was it

1:17:21

like most or worst? Most

1:17:24

memorable. Yeah. I mean, memorable or something. Veronica did

1:17:26

try to kill someone or someone tried to kill

1:17:28

whichever it was. I know it's when you're talking

1:17:31

about that was when they were dangling. I

1:17:33

remember that. Um, and yeah, my

1:17:35

moment is obviously memorable because for eight years

1:17:37

people infamous, I think it might've been most

1:17:39

infamous or something like that. That's what it

1:17:42

could definitely be that I didn't even know.

1:17:44

I need to see this. Yeah. Yeah.

1:17:46

Most memorable. Yeah. Hilarious. Yeah. It

1:17:48

was something like that. Um,

1:17:51

but, but, but yeah, I mean, so like,

1:17:54

you know, like, so, so you get into the challenge

1:17:56

here. Okay. Let's talk about some of your, some

1:17:59

of the drama here. on all-stars

1:18:01

for you. You kind

1:18:03

of get caught in the crosshairs between Nicole and

1:18:06

Cara. And how,

1:18:08

speaking of cringe, how cringe did it

1:18:10

get in there while you're

1:18:12

trying to, you know, toe

1:18:14

the line? Yeah, it was, that was, the

1:18:17

Nicole Laurel was one of the worst experiences

1:18:19

I've like almost had to deal

1:18:21

with ever in my life. And then to have

1:18:24

the two people that I'm cool with being

1:18:26

Nicole and Cara, now beefing, was

1:18:28

just ridiculous. I'm trying everything

1:18:30

I can to hold down

1:18:33

the fort. And every room

1:18:35

Nicole goes into, she tears it

1:18:37

down. And I have to keep rebuilding

1:18:39

it. And production kept asking me, like, how does it feel

1:18:41

that you have to keep putting this puzzle together? Because Nicole

1:18:43

just keeps throwing the puzzle on the floor and you gotta

1:18:45

keep picking up the pieces. And I'm

1:18:47

like, it was one of the most difficult things ever. Cara

1:18:50

had no problem working with Nicole. Cara was

1:18:52

like, yo, tell her to stop

1:18:54

being a child and like, let's

1:18:56

work together. Let's protect her star and my

1:18:58

star, or let's protect my star and get

1:19:00

her a star. And that was all I

1:19:02

tried to do. Every episode you hear me

1:19:04

say, like everything I do I'm doing for

1:19:06

Nicole. I'm trying to protect Nicole more than

1:19:08

anything and then help Cara as best I

1:19:10

can as well. So

1:19:12

it's like to have Nicole just not

1:19:15

understand, not listen, not do, I'm just like,

1:19:18

oh my God, every day. It's like, I have to, I'm like

1:19:20

two hours of sleep. I have to go

1:19:22

compete. I have to figure out who's gonna

1:19:24

be on my team and figure out

1:19:26

what I'm gonna do. And now I gotta deal with Nicole

1:19:28

and try and keep her from ruining everything that I'm putting

1:19:30

together. Like, it was so complicated.

1:19:33

It was just so complicated. We

1:19:36

had a question about your relationship with

1:19:38

Nicole. Let me go and find it right

1:19:40

here. But I think, here we go. So

1:19:43

Ashley says, by the way, these are Ashley's

1:19:45

words, not ours, whoever clips this. No,

1:19:48

Ashley says, are you close with Nicole Z

1:19:50

outside of the show? If so, what is

1:19:52

she like outside of the challenge franchise because

1:19:54

she is hard to like in the confines

1:19:56

of the challenge world? Again, Ashley's

1:19:59

words. not the words of Challenge

1:20:01

Mania, Nicole. But so yeah,

1:20:03

describe your relationship with her, obviously. You're

1:20:06

both firemen, firewomen, firepeople.

1:20:09

Firefighters. Firefighters, there you go.

1:20:12

That's the word, firefighters. I'm an idiot.

1:20:15

You're both firefighters. Talk about how

1:20:17

close you guys are out of the house and whether she is,

1:20:19

as Ashley alluded to, may be different in or outside the

1:20:21

Challenge House in your experience. Yeah,

1:20:24

listen up. I've

1:20:27

known Nicole for a long time. Since I

1:20:29

did real world explosion, she did skeletons right after

1:20:31

me. We became friends after that. We did

1:20:33

events together. So I've known her for a

1:20:35

long time. She knows my family. I know her

1:20:37

family. We got on the job together. We

1:20:39

are friends outside. She

1:20:43

is 100% more difficult to deal with on

1:20:45

the show than off the show. I

1:20:50

love Nicole. And I always say this, I

1:20:52

love Nicole. But now watching these episodes, and

1:20:55

it's crazy because Kara

1:20:57

had my back on everything. And

1:21:00

now I'm seeing that behind my back,

1:21:02

Nicole is throwing challenges that I'm trying

1:21:04

my hardest to win because I have

1:21:07

to redeem myself. So every win

1:21:09

for me is huge. And now

1:21:11

I'm finding out that she's throwing challenges behind my back.

1:21:14

She's making deals behind my back. She's doing all

1:21:16

this behind my back. And I'm like, every episode,

1:21:18

I'm just sitting here telling everyone how I'm doing

1:21:20

everything I can to protect Nicole. So

1:21:23

things are a little different from

1:21:25

my perspective now. We

1:21:27

are 100% still friends outside of the show.

1:21:30

I will still have her back if we go

1:21:32

on the show. She's also a great competitor. She's

1:21:34

very strong. She is fast. She's a great competitor.

1:21:36

I would love to compete with her as a

1:21:38

partner. Amazing. Her personality, as

1:21:41

far as being on the show, she

1:21:43

gets a little wrapped up in things and

1:21:45

makes things worse. So it's

1:21:48

kind of a complicated answer,

1:21:50

especially with the whole, you

1:21:52

watched her do it where she was trying to fight Cara

1:21:54

every episode. And Cara's like, bro, I have no beef with

1:21:56

you. Like, just go away. I don't care. And

1:21:58

she would keep going. And then I'm like, Nicole,

1:22:01

shut up, like stop, you know? But

1:22:04

outside, she doesn't do that out here. It's just

1:22:06

the game gets to her

1:22:08

and she plays it differently than other people. And

1:22:10

I've heard a lot of things and I don't

1:22:12

condone people talking bad about her because she is

1:22:14

my friend, but she

1:22:16

needs to clean her act up. And I've told her that a million

1:22:19

times. So it is what it is, you know? You

1:22:23

wanna get to this question, Dee? Alex

1:22:25

says that Cara on our podcast apparently said

1:22:27

that Nicole came crying to you I believe

1:22:29

this was during the whole Nicole and Laurel

1:22:32

thing. And if so, is that true? That

1:22:35

were you the shoulder to cry on for Nicole the way

1:22:37

Cara attempted to be for Laurel at one point? So

1:22:40

not attempted to be, just so we're clear.

1:22:42

I said this one as well. They

1:22:45

make this season look like Nicole and

1:22:48

Laurel hate each other, right? Then as

1:22:50

the season progresses, they progress and they get

1:22:52

closer and then they get together and then

1:22:54

they're a thing. That is not

1:22:56

how this went. Ryan has put

1:22:59

it in his stories before.

1:23:02

Cara has said it. This was an

1:23:04

hour to hour day to day thing. They

1:23:06

hated each other at one o'clock in the

1:23:08

afternoon. Nicole crying on my shoulder, 100%. Laurel

1:23:12

will be two rooms over crying on Cara's shoulder.

1:23:14

And then I was at one o'clock. They

1:23:17

were like, we're good. You okay? Yeah, I'm

1:23:19

better, okay. At three o'clock, someone

1:23:21

would be like, Nicole and Laurel in the

1:23:23

closet making out. And Cara and I would look

1:23:25

at each other and be like, are

1:23:28

you kidding me? I

1:23:30

think that's how Cara and I started becoming close because we're

1:23:33

like, was she just, Nicole was just

1:23:35

telling me how terrible the person Laurel is. She's like, yeah, no,

1:23:37

Laurel was just telling me how terrible the person Nicole is and

1:23:39

crying on my shoulder. And I'm like, yeah, she was crying on

1:23:41

my shoulder. And now they're making out, like awesome. Three

1:23:43

hours later, they'd be crying on both of our shoulders

1:23:45

again. I hate her. You have to keep her away

1:23:47

from me, blah, blah, blah, blah. Three

1:23:49

hours after that, I'd be going to lay down and Laurel

1:23:52

would come sneaking into the bed next

1:23:54

to me with the bed next to me, not

1:23:56

next to me. with

1:23:59

Nicole. Oh my god, the

1:24:01

one time they show it of me saying

1:24:03

like are we really doing this again? Like

1:24:05

to you need to go away like stop

1:24:07

because it was an every night thing. They

1:24:09

only show it once It was an every

1:24:11

night thing Laurel cried on

1:24:14

Cara's shoulder every day Every

1:24:16

single day the same way Nicole cried on my shoulders every

1:24:18

single day and then they did the exact opposite of what

1:24:20

we told Them to do and they would go do it

1:24:22

there whatever they wanted in the hot tub or in the

1:24:25

sauna or in the closet It was

1:24:27

a disaster. It was so toxic,

1:24:29

bro so toxic So

1:24:32

it's like seven minutes in heaven 20 minutes in

1:24:34

hell Seven minutes in heaven back 20

1:24:36

minutes in hell and everyone has said it like

1:24:38

I've seen stories from other people saying like it

1:24:40

was Way worse than they portrayed

1:24:42

it and I've had conversations with people about

1:24:44

it. Everyone knows it was horrible Shall

1:24:49

we move into Jay's

1:24:51

next big moment and

1:24:54

challenge history Because

1:24:56

we're going from now we're talking

1:24:58

about the Jay legacy now Yeah,

1:25:01

Jay legacy is and I want

1:25:03

to ask you is it a legacy? Because

1:25:06

I don't I don't know what it is, bro.

1:25:08

I want to be the most the most hated

1:25:10

man on the challenge to Kind

1:25:12

of loved on the challenge. So I don't know what

1:25:14

to call it to he's got some fucking balls That's

1:25:18

what I want to and what to he's got some fucking balls

1:25:21

And not scared, bro. I'm not afraid So

1:25:24

like so now you get to this to this moment

1:25:26

where TJ is telling you guys you got to get

1:25:28

your star You got to get your star. There's not

1:25:30

much time left come to find out. There's a little

1:25:32

bit of time left So my question to you is like,

1:25:35

do you regret when you regret

1:25:37

it? I knew it was coming

1:25:39

That's the million dollar question Everyone

1:25:41

asks do you regret throwing yourself

1:25:43

in right? That's the question. Do

1:25:45

you regret saving Leroy?

1:25:49

and throwing yourself in there colorblind

1:25:53

Deviated septum and all

1:25:57

Do you regret throwing yourself in there especially knowing what

1:25:59

was coming? up next, which is basically

1:26:01

like, you know, untie this rope, get

1:26:03

in a circular raft, you know,

1:26:06

or it out to the, to your star, bring

1:26:08

it, you know, or it back. Like,

1:26:12

do you think that you should have done

1:26:14

it? Was it worth it? I

1:26:20

do not regret my decision. The

1:26:23

only thing I regret is losing. And

1:26:26

I had this conversation with Cara the

1:26:29

day after everything happened when

1:26:31

the show was over and she called me and told

1:26:33

me that there was

1:26:35

another day left. But

1:26:39

when we showed up to the balls

1:26:41

out or balls in challenge, whatever it was, when you

1:26:43

had to hit the balls out of the net, when

1:26:47

we showed up to that, we

1:26:49

did not think it was a challenge. We thought we

1:26:51

were showing up and TJ was going

1:26:53

to say, if you don't have a star, you're

1:26:56

now packing your bags, go home, everyone else you're

1:26:58

running the final. That's what we thought that day

1:27:00

was. So when we had

1:27:02

an actual challenge, we were like, Oh my

1:27:04

God, like, we can we still have a

1:27:06

challenge girls day naturally, right? So I'm like,

1:27:08

well, this absolutely sucks. I

1:27:10

still don't have a chance. Like I'm done in our heads,

1:27:13

like the guys were done, it was over. So

1:27:16

when we go to the next challenge, and

1:27:18

it's run the plank, we're like, we thought the

1:27:20

same thing. We're like, well, this has to be a 10. We

1:27:22

were way past our time. We were

1:27:24

like, this is it, like he's gonna tell us if

1:27:26

we don't have a star go home. And it was

1:27:28

another challenge. So I'm like, we're all like mind blown.

1:27:31

We're like, how is there another one? Like this is

1:27:33

crazy. Our timeframe what we were told and everything

1:27:35

else like, did this should have

1:27:37

been it already. So then

1:27:39

when we showed up for the shopping cart

1:27:41

one, and it was another challenge and a

1:27:43

guy's day. It was like, Oh

1:27:46

my God, like this is God giving

1:27:48

me one more chance at doing

1:27:50

this. I didn't come there for that weekly pay. You

1:27:53

know, guys said like, Oh, I don't want to go in.

1:27:55

I'd rather just get the extra weeks pay and then go

1:27:57

home. I didn't come there for that. I

1:27:59

can't. I came there to win the whole damn show.

1:28:02

I wanted to redeem myself and win the entire

1:28:04

friggin' show. And I swear to you, I could

1:28:06

have done it. I believe in my heart of

1:28:09

hearts that I could have won that entire thing.

1:28:12

So when I had that, I looked

1:28:14

at Leroy, Kara, Steve, Nicole, and Ace,

1:28:16

and I said, yo, I

1:28:18

gotta do this. Like, I either have to

1:28:20

come in last place and you guys gotta vote

1:28:22

me in, or I gotta win this whole entire

1:28:24

challenge this daily and send myself in. If

1:28:26

this is the, this, we didn't think we had

1:28:28

any chances left. The fact that I know I have a chance,

1:28:31

what if I would never be able to, I

1:28:34

wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did

1:28:37

what Laurel did and what everyone else did and said,

1:28:39

nah, I'm gonna pass up this opportunity. And

1:28:41

then tomorrow, TJ says, hey,

1:28:44

if you don't have a star, you go home. Did we know that

1:28:46

there were gonna be two more stars? No, we didn't. And

1:28:49

if anyone says they did, they're lying to you. It

1:28:51

was a guess. They maybe assumed or just

1:28:53

prayed that they had another chance. I

1:28:56

wasn't gonna risk that. I wasn't gonna take that chance

1:28:59

and say, I say no, turn down the opportunity. And

1:29:02

then TJ says, if you don't have a star, you're done,

1:29:04

go home. Cause then there's nothing I can do about that.

1:29:07

At least now I have a

1:29:09

shot. It turns out I have basically a

1:29:11

1% shot, but it's

1:29:13

more of a shot than I believe I have in

1:29:15

the future because to me, there are no more challenges.

1:29:18

So in that moment, do

1:29:21

I regret making that decision? No, I don't because

1:29:23

in that moment, that was what I

1:29:25

believed. And everyone else that was with me believed that

1:29:27

I needed to do to get to that final. And that

1:29:30

was the only reason I was there, to get to that

1:29:32

final. Now, I

1:29:34

had said from the get go, I'm going in no matter what.

1:29:36

And no matter what it was, I was going in and

1:29:39

I proved that. It sucks that it

1:29:41

was like, we walked in there, bro. And

1:29:44

I looked at it and it was water.

1:29:46

And I'm like, that's great. My nose is broken. Like

1:29:48

I I'm screwed. And then we saw the

1:29:50

shades of colors and I said, no way.

1:29:52

And Nicole looked at me and was like, don't go in. And

1:29:55

then Leroy was like, bro, like

1:29:57

your colored line. And I said, yes. And he goes.

1:30:00

I'm screwed, aren't I? And I was like, shit.

1:30:03

Like that was the first moment in

1:30:06

the entire season that I looked

1:30:08

at something and said, this might not

1:30:10

go well for me. Like I

1:30:12

can always figure it out. I can always power

1:30:14

through it. This was the first time

1:30:16

that I stopped myself and was like, shit,

1:30:19

like this isn't good. But

1:30:21

again, 1% chance or not, it

1:30:24

was more than I thought I had the next day. I

1:30:26

didn't know there was the next day. I

1:30:29

had to make that call. I had no, in

1:30:31

my mind, I had no choice. And

1:30:34

I had already given my word and I

1:30:36

was not gonna go back on that. I am a man of my

1:30:38

word no matter what, through and through. So there

1:30:40

was no chance I was going back on that. And if

1:30:42

I would have got that thought, dude, I wanted physical. I

1:30:45

wanted that rope thing that they had when

1:30:47

Nicole through Jasmine and Steve wrestled with Kiefler.

1:30:49

That's what I wanted. Cause I want, Steve's

1:30:52

a wrestler. Steve has knocked out two or

1:30:54

three people already. I wanted to wrestle with

1:30:56

him and show everybody like, I'm half his

1:30:58

size. He's a wrestler and I'm still gonna

1:31:00

win. That's what I wanted. I

1:31:02

wanted pole wrestle. I wanted pole rolling. I wanted

1:31:04

to go head to head with Steve. And

1:31:07

then it just happened to be the two worst

1:31:09

possible scenarios I could ever

1:31:11

be in at the same time.

1:31:15

Yeah, I'll be honest. I think that you

1:31:17

have at the very least balanced out your

1:31:22

character of who Jay is. With

1:31:26

sticking to your word and

1:31:28

going in there, no matter what

1:31:31

colorblind, can't see, can't go in

1:31:33

the water. I think if

1:31:35

you would have said everything that you said,

1:31:37

cause this is the same episode, you have

1:31:39

Ryan saying, I'm we're oscillates, I'm going in.

1:31:42

Like he's not getting, you know,

1:31:44

like granted, he's got the broken clavicle and

1:31:46

stuff like that. But like, if you go

1:31:48

into this thing and you know,

1:31:50

with all the bravado and say you're going in

1:31:53

and then come out as a fucking liar towards

1:31:56

Leroy on top of that. Yeah. The

1:31:58

biggest fan favorite on the planet. You

1:32:01

would have been staying off

1:32:03

of social media for the next eight years. Exactly,

1:32:05

yo, 100%. I

1:32:08

wasn't even thinking of that when I'm out there.

1:32:10

Like, none of that mattered to me. Yeah.

1:32:13

But looking back at it, yes. And that

1:32:15

was what Kara said too. Kara's like, you

1:32:17

saved Leroy. Like, he's the god of the

1:32:19

challenges to the fans. He's the funniest guy

1:32:21

in the world. He's the fan favorite. Everyone

1:32:23

knows that. No matter what season, he is

1:32:25

always the fan favorite. So if I would

1:32:27

have backstabbed him, the

1:32:30

Jay that can't drink the drink, it would have been

1:32:32

Jay that can't drink the drink and the scumbag. Like,

1:32:34

I would have been done. Yeah. I

1:32:37

would have been done for. Yeah. I wasn't

1:32:39

thinking about that at the time. All I was thinking

1:32:41

was, told him I'm going in, I'm going in. I

1:32:44

want to go in, because I need to win this. I'm

1:32:47

gonna do it. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do

1:32:49

it. I'm gonna do it. With Lucky

1:34:25

just it's amazing. I crack up because in my

1:34:27

head, like I just I wanted to win,

1:34:29

bro. I wanted to win. And the only

1:34:31

way to win is to get that star.

1:34:34

So I had no choice. Hindsight.

1:34:36

Thank God I did all that, because like you said, I

1:34:38

would have been tortured for the next eight years. It would

1:34:40

have been hell on earth again. Well, that's

1:34:42

at the very worst. At the very least, though,

1:34:44

the way it went down, you get a good

1:34:46

old fashioned TJ sendoff where he tells you that

1:34:49

you more or less I mean, he sort of

1:34:51

absolves you of everything that happened your first go

1:34:53

around. He gives you a good, you know, pat

1:34:55

on the back, says we'll definitely see you again.

1:34:57

And I forget I haven't watched it yet. Like,

1:34:59

you know, I mean, I watched a week ago,

1:35:01

but I haven't watched it like ten minutes or

1:35:03

not, where I remember what kind of a sendoff

1:35:05

Adam and Ryan and whoever else

1:35:07

went home in that final purge. But just

1:35:09

by nature of having four Avery, just by

1:35:11

nature of having three or four people

1:35:13

going home at once, I don't think

1:35:15

he took the time to give everybody

1:35:18

the same congratulatory pat on the back

1:35:20

that you got by going in, by

1:35:22

manning up and even losing. So even

1:35:24

in defeat, I do think, as Derek

1:35:26

said, you got this nice full circle

1:35:28

moment that was a great bookend to

1:35:30

counteract everything that we got from your

1:35:32

first exit on the challenge. So I

1:35:34

think whether strategically the better advantage for

1:35:36

going to the final might have been

1:35:38

playing the Laurel game, playing the Avery

1:35:40

game and waiting to the end and

1:35:43

maybe testing your luck against Chavez and

1:35:45

Kehoe and Larson or whoever else would

1:35:47

have been in the race at the

1:35:49

end. Fine. But narratively for your journey

1:35:52

and your, as we said, legacy. Right.

1:35:54

I really do think that was the

1:35:56

move to have gone

1:35:58

with. So kudos. to you as the host of this

1:36:00

show. Yeah, you know what? I agree

1:36:03

with you. And it's funny hearing it

1:36:05

from other people, too, saying the same

1:36:07

thing. Everyone's now looking

1:36:09

at it. They're like, I

1:36:11

got a good send off from TJ. And

1:36:13

he didn't, I think he did, maybe,

1:36:16

Banana's podcast? And yeah, I think

1:36:18

it was Banana's podcast. And Banana's and I don't get

1:36:20

along. And Banana's asked him, if anyone

1:36:23

that had quit in the past would come back,

1:36:25

who would it be? And TJ was

1:36:27

like, Jay, I would bring Jay back. I

1:36:30

got a good send off from TJ. And

1:36:32

it's weird, because

1:36:34

it almost felt like that big brother moment,

1:36:36

in a sense, because he hated me in

1:36:38

my eyes. He hated me. And

1:36:40

then he just looks at me and is like,

1:36:42

bro, I like this Jay. I really

1:36:45

hope we see you again. I

1:36:47

really like this new Jay. And I felt

1:36:49

accomplished. If he's saying

1:36:51

that, then it means something. Because I've

1:36:53

watched him say a lot of horrible things

1:36:55

to other people and not care for them.

1:36:57

And he didn't care for me. So to

1:36:59

change his mind was big for me. It

1:37:02

was big for me. And off camera, after

1:37:06

when I did get eliminated and I was getting

1:37:08

in the car to go to the airport and

1:37:10

all that, TJ drove up next to me. And

1:37:13

he put his hand out the window and shook my hand. And he

1:37:15

was like, bro, you killed it. He said,

1:37:17

you killed it. I thought you had a good shot

1:37:19

at winning this whole thing. And I looked at Dennis

1:37:22

face and I said, TJ, I swear on everything I love. I

1:37:24

thought I was going to win this whole thing. And

1:37:27

he was like, then come back next time and do it. I

1:37:29

said, you'll see me again then. And then

1:37:31

he drove off. And that was the real send off

1:37:33

for me. But even the one that everyone else

1:37:35

saw, it was good. It was good.

1:37:38

And I appreciated it a lot from

1:37:40

him. I got

1:37:43

just a couple of rapid fire questions

1:37:46

since you've been so brutally honest with

1:37:48

all the questions. I'm

1:37:51

just interested in the rest of the

1:37:54

brewing rivalries that we've seen on All

1:37:56

Stars, the unexpected drama. You,

1:38:00

team Steve or team Adam? Steve

1:38:02

all the way. Steve all the

1:38:04

way. Steve is a good dude. And

1:38:06

it's like, if you watch it, how

1:38:08

can you be on Adam's side? Like,

1:38:11

I don't understand it. Adam voted Steve

1:38:13

in every time that Steve went in. You

1:38:15

want him to protect you now? Like, what do you

1:38:17

think's gonna happen? You voted him in. And

1:38:20

then to sit there and say like, you have no friends

1:38:22

and this and that, like, who are you

1:38:24

to belittle somebody

1:38:27

like that? I was very

1:38:29

close with Steve. I was very cool with Steve. Carter

1:38:32

was cool with Steve. Ace was cool with Steve.

1:38:34

Nicole was cool with Steve. So for him to sit there

1:38:36

and say, you have no friends, like, who are your friends,

1:38:38

bro? This, I just named four

1:38:40

or five people that are friends with him. Like, who

1:38:43

are you? And then you wanted to like,

1:38:45

get, oh, you took my start. Well, you voted him in.

1:38:47

What do you think he's gonna do? Like, come on now.

1:38:49

I don't think anything that Steve

1:38:51

did warranted what Adam said. Yeah.

1:38:55

Well, over the top, for sure. Oh, 100%. We

1:39:00

had some off challenge

1:39:03

drama between Tina and Flora.

1:39:06

I don't know if you caught any of that. Are you team

1:39:08

Tina or team Flora? It was on challenge drama

1:39:10

too. They just didn't air it really, but

1:39:13

I'm team Tina. I love Tina, bro. Tina,

1:39:15

and I went in there, not

1:39:17

a fan of Tina because I've

1:39:19

watched Tina when I was younger and the whole

1:39:21

mean girls and the drama and like you knew

1:39:24

it was coming. Tina's hilarious,

1:39:26

bro. You've been with her. She

1:39:28

is hilarious. I enjoyed

1:39:30

her thoroughly. I wish I could have got

1:39:32

to work with her more, but she is

1:39:34

funny. I liked her. I

1:39:36

liked what she was about. She was honest about

1:39:38

everything. Flora went behind everyone's

1:39:41

back. Even, sorry, I

1:39:44

don't know what just happened. Even

1:39:46

my, the wind just blew something straight off my

1:39:48

desk into my face. I really

1:39:50

hope every, I hope that it shows on there because I

1:39:53

want to see it. I want to see it. And I

1:39:55

want to see the reaction I just made on that. That's

1:39:57

the ghost of Flora coming to get you. Yo, seriously, exactly.

1:40:00

There's a scene where

1:40:02

I'm talking to Kara and I say like to Cam, like,

1:40:04

oh, I'm just gonna take Cam's star. Like,

1:40:06

I don't care, I just need a star. And then

1:40:09

Kara's like, oh, well, the move Nicole made is

1:40:11

stupid. And Flora's like, don't call her stupid. And

1:40:14

then Flora runs to Nicole and is like, Kara's

1:40:16

telling Jay that you're stupid and he agreed with

1:40:18

her. And then Nicole comes storming down to me

1:40:20

and is like, you're letting her call me stupid?

1:40:22

And I'm like, whoa, hold on, timeout.

1:40:24

Like, what are you talking about? She didn't call

1:40:26

you stupid. She said the move you made was

1:40:28

stupid. And I agree. It was stupid. If you

1:40:30

would have listened to me, your star would have

1:40:32

never been in jeopardy to begin with. If Cam

1:40:34

would have won, Cam would have had to take

1:40:36

your star. Your star was gone. You're lucky Kara

1:40:38

won. You're lucky. If you would have listened

1:40:41

to the plan that I put in motion, that Kara put

1:40:43

in motion, if you just listened to us, it

1:40:45

would have been perfectly fine. You would have been

1:40:47

safe no matter what. That move was stupid, plain

1:40:49

and simple. Before, run behind your back and just

1:40:51

stir the pot. And everyone was like, oh,

1:40:53

mama Flora, mama Flora, she tells us everything. She

1:40:56

made so much shit up, it was ridiculous. And

1:40:58

Keto was the only one that had the balls

1:41:00

to call her out on it other than myself.

1:41:05

The drama that started it all. Are

1:41:07

you team Cam or team Rachel? Ah,

1:41:13

yeah, that's the toughie. Zinger,

1:41:15

Zinger. I'm,

1:41:18

I don't know. I

1:41:20

don't know. You can call it a draw if you want.

1:41:22

I thought you were gonna give him the easy one. And

1:41:24

I thought you were gonna see Cam or Kara. And he

1:41:26

would have just obviously said Kara. I mean, I'm coming

1:41:29

up to the heavyweight bout

1:41:31

here in just a second, okay? I'm

1:41:33

sure you're doing. This is the co-main

1:41:36

event here, right? That's tough though, man.

1:41:38

That's tough. Cause

1:41:40

I like, I, and watching it,

1:41:42

I don't like the way Cam

1:41:44

handled herself on a lot of situations.

1:41:47

Rachel came in and went out like

1:41:50

a gentleman, you know, per se.

1:41:52

And like, she came in and went out

1:41:54

with like dignity, respect, was just like, I'm

1:41:56

here to compete. Very

1:41:58

much like myself. win and go home. That's

1:42:01

it. Like, let's do this. And I don't

1:42:04

think that Kara deserves

1:42:06

what Cam gave her. Like, the

1:42:08

name of the game is to protect your star, right? That's

1:42:10

the name of the game. The only way you get to

1:42:12

a final is if you have a star. So, of course,

1:42:14

Kara's going to protect her star. That

1:42:16

voting, Cam already got what she

1:42:18

wanted. So then, Kara's

1:42:20

saying, like, well, there's no need for me to vote.

1:42:22

You already got what you wanted. And it was like,

1:42:25

Cam just wanted to, like, puff her chest

1:42:27

and be like, yeah, but I want to hear you say

1:42:29

it. And it's like, why? Let her

1:42:31

protect her star. That's what she's here for.

1:42:33

That's the name of the game. And that's what she's doing. So

1:42:36

when people are hating on her saying, like, she treated

1:42:38

the star like a baby. Yeah, because

1:42:41

there was a $250,000 baby she was trying

1:42:43

to take home with her. So I

1:42:47

respected Rachel a lot,

1:42:49

the way she came in, the way she handled herself, and the way

1:42:51

she went out. I like Cam

1:42:53

as a person. We were cool. I

1:42:55

would love to work with her. She's

1:42:58

very, very, very strong and very, like,

1:43:01

persuasive. But then

1:43:04

you're on a personal level. I don't like some of

1:43:06

the things on the way she handled herself. And

1:43:08

it's not talking behind her back because I'll have a conversation with her and be

1:43:10

like, well, this is how I feel. You know, I'm not, I'm

1:43:12

not the behind the back kind of guy. So

1:43:14

your team Rachel, basically. I

1:43:17

don't want to say that, but just

1:43:19

put your, put your notes.

1:43:22

No, I'm done. I'm done. I'm done with that one. I

1:43:24

got you. You can, everyone can, you know, read through their

1:43:26

own tea leaves. I'm not trying to put, I'm not trying

1:43:28

to listen. If you go

1:43:30

against cam, all right, the guys get to get in trouble. I took

1:43:32

that. Oh, you better watch

1:43:34

out. Okay. And then

1:43:36

obviously the last word team Laurel or

1:43:38

team car, obviously, this is the female

1:43:41

heavyweight championship of the

1:43:43

world that we're all watching here. Who

1:43:46

none of us really want wanted

1:43:49

to go be like this obviously, but it

1:43:51

is what it is. And it obviously rides

1:43:53

deeper than, you know, an

1:43:56

armchair quarterback could ever fucking

1:43:58

try to overstrategize. You know

1:44:00

what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I am

1:44:02

100% team Kara on this. I

1:44:05

talked to Kara on a weekly basis

1:44:08

now. Still, since the show and to this

1:44:10

day, I just talked to her yesterday. I

1:44:12

talked to her on a daily basis, a weekly basis. Kara

1:44:14

and I are very good friends. I like her a lot.

1:44:17

Watching Nicole go through what she went through

1:44:20

with Laurel, and like I said earlier,

1:44:22

you guys didn't even see a quarter of it. Forget half

1:44:24

of it, you didn't even see a quarter of it. She

1:44:27

treated Nicole very poorly. Very

1:44:30

poorly. Then you watch her cry on Kara's shoulders.

1:44:32

Not again, not a quarter of as much as

1:44:34

I've watched her cry on Kara's shoulder. And

1:44:36

then you watch her scream in Kara's face at nominations.

1:44:39

You watch her go behind Kara's back and say, don't

1:44:41

work with her. Don't do this with her. Don't do

1:44:43

that. It was just

1:44:46

not, she's not. Laurel's just, no,

1:44:49

no, I wasn't a fan. I'm not

1:44:51

a fan. I am, Kara

1:44:53

was straight up with everything she said and did. And

1:44:56

I respect her for that. I like Kara a lot. I would

1:44:58

love to compete with Kara again. I

1:45:01

could care less if Laurel was on another season with

1:45:03

me. Damn.

1:45:06

All right, final question. Do you

1:45:08

have any, what's the biggest highlight of

1:45:11

the season for you here coming back to

1:45:13

All Stars? Obviously, it

1:45:16

does feel like a redemption from

1:45:19

us watching a great

1:45:22

redemption story, even though the fact that you're

1:45:24

lost, I

1:45:27

don't know if you could have went out any

1:45:29

better way other than winning this whole thing at

1:45:31

the end of it, or winning

1:45:33

Colorblind against Steve. Which

1:45:37

is crazy that I was actually kind of close. Go

1:45:44

ahead, Scott. Is that it? Is that it? Is

1:45:47

that the highlight of your

1:45:49

comeback? No, to

1:45:51

me, it just encompasses the whole

1:45:53

season. There wasn't

1:45:55

one moment where I was just like, that was

1:45:57

the moment. It was the whole season of everything.

1:46:00

everything the way it played out. I

1:46:02

didn't belong there. No one thought I belonged there. Now,

1:46:04

I prove to a lot

1:46:06

of people that I am athletic, I can compete,

1:46:08

I can do the political game. No

1:46:10

one, I was never in the bottom. The only one I

1:46:12

was in the bottom was when I was colorblind and I

1:46:14

knocked myself out, because I couldn't see the colors. And you

1:46:16

hear me say, I think I just knocked myself out. And

1:46:19

I did. Other than that, I never

1:46:21

came in the bottom. That's two seasons now of

1:46:23

never coming in the bottom. Right?

1:46:26

Didn't ever have to go into elimination. I never

1:46:28

even put myself in the position to be put

1:46:30

into elimination until I won and threw myself in.

1:46:33

Right? It's the combination of this

1:46:35

entirety, of everyone saying, you don't belong on All-Stars

1:46:37

4, you're not an All-Star. Competing

1:46:39

the way I competed, doing what I did, leaving

1:46:42

that season and saying, I belong

1:46:44

on All-Stars 4. I left there

1:46:47

and I said, I belonged on All-Stars 4 and

1:46:49

I belong on another one in the future.

1:46:52

Awesome. Hell yeah. It's a great place to

1:46:54

end it, my friend. Well, I'll say, man,

1:46:56

it's been what, eight years since you were

1:46:58

last on MTV. People have questioned whether you

1:47:01

should take the MTV out of your name.

1:47:03

And sadly you still haven't been on

1:47:05

MTV because this aired on Paramount Plus,

1:47:07

but may I suggest JG Paramount Plus,

1:47:09

the new official title of our man,

1:47:12

Mr. J. Mitchell. Either way, no matter

1:47:14

the network, you crushed it, my man.

1:47:16

Thank you so much. Wait, what does

1:47:18

the G stand for? We all thought that your

1:47:20

last name started with a G. No

1:47:22

one will ever know. They don't

1:47:24

like it now. Really? It's one of

1:47:26

those. You're taking it to the grave. It's

1:47:28

like G stands for it. I know what

1:47:31

it stands for. Yeah, exactly. That stands for

1:47:33

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Goodbye,

1:47:35

Derek. G-Day. It's G-Day. Every

1:47:38

day is G-Day. Every day, baby. It's so, you

1:47:40

know what it is? It's so that Tuesday girl

1:47:42

who he does not want coming to call and

1:47:44

can't find him in the phone book. That's what

1:47:46

it is. Thank

1:47:49

you so much. It's been days, days. Yeah,

1:47:52

well, not to the Tuesday. Oh, well,

1:47:54

hold on. Before that, we had a

1:47:56

great ending, but let's just, I guess

1:47:58

we have to clarify this. Yeah, I

1:48:00

am no I am not engaged. Oh, all

1:48:02

right. I know. Yeah, I guess people know

1:48:05

but people don't know so we'll put it

1:48:07

out there officially. Well, now I am not

1:48:09

engaged. I am no wondering I have not

1:48:12

I haven't been with that girl in

1:48:16

over a year. Oh, well,

1:48:18

you know what? That's what happens when

1:48:20

you film something a year and a

1:48:22

half in advance. Exactly. So you know

1:48:24

what I'm doing here. I'm telling the

1:48:26

challenge maniacs who are watching this on

1:48:28

video to slide on in or the

1:48:31

DMS. No, no, no, no. Yeah, I

1:48:33

am happily with somebody. Hey, I don't

1:48:35

need anybody in the DMS. I would

1:48:37

stay out of my DMS, please. I

1:48:39

don't want that drama. I am very

1:48:41

again, like I said earlier, like I

1:48:43

said earlier, I got my family, my

1:48:45

friends, my job. I am so happy

1:48:47

outside. I got I am

1:48:49

happily with somebody now. Like I'm good.

1:48:51

She watched every episode with me. And

1:48:53

it was it was awesome. So I am I

1:48:56

am happy right now and I'm

1:48:58

good. All right. Well, yeah, and like

1:49:00

two days it's gonna be JJ day.

1:49:02

So yeah, on challenge mania. So no

1:49:04

unsolicited photo every day that is. Thank

1:49:07

you, Jay. Hopefully we'll see you on another season. Either

1:49:09

way, we'd love to have you out at a challenge

1:49:11

mania event live show party was a great pleasure having

1:49:13

you for the premiere. For those of you guys who

1:49:15

don't know his whole firehouse came they all had their

1:49:18

own homemade Jay t shirt. Jay on it. So it's

1:49:20

a pleasure to meet your friends and family and hopefully

1:49:22

we could do it again. Sometimes. Yeah, I would love

1:49:24

to come out and do another one. It's been a

1:49:26

fun experience to travel somewhere else and do it.

1:49:28

Yes. Well, great time and I thank you for

1:49:31

having me on that. I did appreciate that. Yeah,

1:49:33

we'll bring you on the road if you can

1:49:35

take a few days off and hopefully we can

1:49:37

bring on the road to talk about a future

1:49:39

season, whether it's season 40, 41 rivals, exes, whatever

1:49:41

the hell it's gonna be. They better be calling

1:49:43

as TJ said, they know they'll be seeing you

1:49:45

in the future. So thank you. And you know

1:49:47
