Breaking points has one quality that many shows struggle to maintain: both parties are open to criticism. No political figure is immune from being called out/criticized. I’m a follower of few news podcasts which I know of their biases towards their political affiliations. With Krystal and Saagar, Both Trump, Bush, Clinton , and Obama are hold accountable for all of their actions.
If you're not following Krystal and Saagar's fantastic new bipartisan podcast, Breaking Points, you definitely should. Krystal Ball (from the Left) and Saagar Enjeti (from the Right) are seasoned pros who together cut through the corporate tribalist bullshit like a knife through butter. I may not always agree with them, but I find their candor and integrity a refreshing change from the shamelessly hypocritical groupthink found almost everywhere else.
I used to love and subscribe to this podcast, but it's becoming more and more divisive, shrill, and one-dimensional. There's basically one point of view anymore and it's more based on opinion than research or facts. If you like MSNBC, you'll probably enjoy this show. It used to be more.
There’s a lot of “both-sides-isms”. I find it annoying.
These two are as straight forward and fair as anyone I have ever heard. There are tons of shows that claim to be "fair and balanced", yet constantly lean one direction or the other. Krystal and Saagar use common sense and logic, which is rare these days. I absolutely love this podcast and listen premium every day.
Continues to go downhill with partisan bias.
I appreciate the fact they are willing to criticize both political parties and the major players, but they present false equivalencies/ both sides are bad.
I used to listen to this semi-regularly. It is hard to find a program that can discuss issues beyond short soundbites. Unfortunately this has devolved from a relatively open minded conversation to the same kind of closed-minded dogmatism found on network news. I have noticed that there has been a continual decay of unbiased open-mindedness over the past three years. It started during COVID, continued with Afghanistan, and is on display following the recent attacks on October 7. Have decided to cancel my premium subscription and will look for a replacement show.
