What’s a tifo? It’s an Italian word used to describe various forms of fan choreography at soccer matches and other sporting events. Think giant pre-game banners and other intricate theme-based displays in the stands. If you’re an Atlanta soccer fan, you just may have seen—or been part of—a tifo or two that our guest designed. Vera Zeigler of Resurgence, an Atlanta United FC supporters group, is passionate about Atlanta, sports, and art. Her dedication to the home team is fierce, and tifo culture was a natural fit. We sat down to talk about Vera’s roots in the A, what goes on behind the scenes to entertain and energize fans, and the community of motivated folks she works with.
