0:32
not gonna believe how bright and vivid the colors

this is an audio ad, unless

1:02
forward slash podcast. My
1:06
name is Paul Truslow. I live
1:08
in Montgomery, Alabama for the last
1:11
about 20 years. I
1:13
grew up in Virginia, hunting
1:15
and fishing out in the woods with my dad
1:18
up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Went
1:20
in the army after high school and
1:23
got out of the army, went to college in Virginia
1:27
and got a job in a IT
1:29
company right out of school. And
1:32
they moved me across the country. So I
1:34
wound up, initially went to New
1:36
Jersey and then went to Dallas, Texas.
1:39
And then they reload
1:41
me out to Sacramento, California. And
1:44
I spent about 15 years living in Sacramento
1:47
and got
1:50
married out there, had a house, had
1:53
our two kids. But
1:55
before the two kids showed up, this
1:57
was late 90s, 90s. I
2:01
think I saw a Bigfoot. That's my
2:04
story. To this day, I can't explain
2:06
what I saw. So I kind
2:09
of got interested in your podcast. I saw
2:11
it. I've been listening to it and thought, yeah,
2:13
I want to come on and tell my story. I
2:16
think I saw one. I don't know what else
2:18
it could have been, but thanks for the opportunity
2:20
to share this story. Like
2:23
I said, it was about 1997. I
2:26
don't know if it was fall time.
2:28
It's hard to remember. I'll be 60
2:31
this Friday. I was probably 32,
2:34
33 back then. So
2:37
late 90s, my
2:40
wife and I, we didn't have kids at this
2:42
point. Just got married.
2:44
We were living outside
2:46
of Sacramento. We lived in a suburb
2:49
northeast of Sacramento, a
2:51
little community called Rockland, California.
2:54
At a house, if anybody wants to Google, Google
2:57
Earth it or whatever and see 5543 Cabrillo
3:01
Way is the house we lived in. And
3:04
it was in a nice little subdivision kind of
3:06
down in a bowl.
3:08
There were probably 500,000
3:09
homes
3:11
out there at that point, but it was new
3:14
subdivision, new construction moved into
3:16
that house. Two story
3:18
stucco house had the red slate
3:21
roof on the top. You
3:24
know, the yard wasn't big. The front yard
3:26
was teeny. It took me five minutes
3:28
to mow. The backyard was maybe twice as big,
3:30
but still small. Some
3:32
of the important details about it. It
3:35
was two story. The
3:37
master bedroom was up on the second story
3:39
and it was on the street side.
3:41
But we were on a row of houses
3:44
that were probably 20 homes.
3:47
We were like on the far left.
3:49
If you're looking at the front of my house, you
3:52
know, from the driveway, the street
3:54
we lived on, there were probably 20 homes
3:57
to the right of me. So we're all side
3:59
by side.
4:01
down this Carrillo Way, Carrillo
4:03
Court Street. And
4:05
all these homes backed up to wetlands
4:08
and that was one of the appealing reasons why
4:10
we bought the house because they told us
4:12
they would never build behind
4:15
the house. It would remain wetland and it
4:17
was you know like a nice preserve back
4:19
there this wildlife and stuff. Mainly
4:22
pheasants but a lot of birds and stuff.
4:25
And we had two dogs, Buddy and Haley.
4:27
Buddy was a golden retriever and
4:30
Haley was a black lab. Buddy was older,
4:33
Haley was young but the two
4:35
dogs lived in the backyard.
4:38
So in the backyard everybody
4:41
along on this street we had wooden
4:43
you know solid wooden fences on
4:45
each side of the yard. So
4:48
if I'm in my backyard my neighbors and his
4:50
we can't see each other. We've got a solid
4:52
wooden fence between us. But they built
4:54
wrought iron fences to
4:56
go across the back of all these homes. So you
4:59
could look out into those wetlands and
5:02
enjoy the field. You're
5:04
not surrounded by neighbors like you are on
5:06
both sides. So you
5:09
had some field back there. So anyway
5:12
this this all started. I don't
5:15
it's been so long. I don't remember the day
5:17
this actually happened but I
5:20
do know it was a Saturday morning.
5:23
You know I
5:24
planned to sleep in on Saturday mornings. I
5:26
work hard Monday through Friday but
5:28
on the weekends you know have some downtime. It
5:31
was Saturday morning about 5.30.
5:35
My dog started barking
5:37
and that wasn't highly unusual.
5:40
That field like I said there were a lot of pheasants.
5:43
That field was I mean
5:45
it was a big field. It was quarter mile
5:48
long, quarter mile wide, had
5:50
a creek running down the middle of it. I
5:53
don't recall back then any trees.
5:55
There was no obstruction
5:57
of you. It was just a big flat field.
6:00
went on for you know hundreds of yards.
6:04
So it's just a flat field back there it has some scrub
6:07
brush and grass and whatnot but the pheasants
6:10
would build nests back
6:12
there and you'd hear them all the time
6:14
you see them flying. But anyway
6:17
5.30 in the morning Saturday
6:20
morning my dog started barking it woke me up
6:23
and my
6:24
wife and I are in bed there in the master
6:26
bedroom and I thought well a couple
6:28
minutes go by they'll stop. Well
6:31
they kept barking they kept barking
6:33
and they bark for about 15 minutes
6:36
and finally
6:38
I don't know if I said something to my wife or what I just
6:40
I thought I gotta go see what they're barking
6:43
at. What the heck is it? So I
6:45
walked across you know this was only upper
6:47
story of the two-story
6:49
house I walk across to the back bedroom
6:52
and I pulled the blinds
6:54
up and
6:56
I looked down in the backyard I see my
6:58
two dogs down there and they're right
7:00
at that back wrought iron fence they
7:03
got their heads shoved through the wrought
7:05
iron fence and they're barking at something
7:08
and they're looking straight behind
7:10
my house. So my eyes
7:12
just kind of followed the direction they're looking I
7:14
start looking up and boom
7:17
I mean I saw
7:19
this big round
7:22
black spot that's about 40
7:25
yards behind my house
7:28
wasn't that far
7:30
and immediately I thought you know like
7:32
I said I grew up in Virginia hunting I've seen
7:34
bears in the woods and deer and turkey
7:37
I saw that big black spot
7:39
I thought was the black bear back there mystery
7:42
saw now I know what my dogs
7:44
are barking at
7:46
and I just
7:47
sat there in the windowsill
7:49
looking at this thing and
7:51
maybe looked at it it
7:53
looked to me like the head was it
7:56
looked like it was laying on its stomach if
8:00
it's tail closer to me in the head,
8:02
further away. And it was
8:04
just laying there. And I remember
8:07
thinking, is he
8:09
eating something? Is he like eating pheasant
8:12
eggs? I don't even know if bears eat
8:15
pheasant eggs. But
8:17
I remember thinking that maybe it's eating
8:20
the perfect eggs. I don't know what it's doing.
8:22
It seemed kind of odd, but
8:24
it was laying on its stomach. But
8:27
I thought it's a black bear. So that
8:30
explains why my dogs are going crazy and
8:32
barking at this thing. And after
8:35
maybe 10 seconds of just looking
8:37
at it, this thing stood up.
8:41
And now it's on two legs. It didn't
8:43
stand up on four legs, it stood up
8:45
on two legs. And that's the part, this
8:47
is where it got crazy. You know, in
8:49
my mind, I'm like, what in the world
8:52
is that? It stood up on two
8:54
legs. Now it had its
8:56
back to me. It just looked in the other direction.
9:00
And it turned to the right. 90 degrees
9:04
would be a quarter turn to the right. It
9:06
probably turned 120 degrees. And
9:10
I could see the side of it. And
9:13
it's black, it's hairy. I'm
9:16
looking at kind of a silhouette of this thing.
9:19
And it
9:21
started walking. And not
9:23
walking like it was in a big hurry, not walking
9:26
like it was flushed and needed
9:28
to suddenly get out of there. Just like
9:30
taking his time. Like I
9:33
walked to the mailbox at night. It
9:35
was just walking and the arms were swinging
9:37
and I could see that. And it was walking,
9:41
not straight to the right. It was
9:43
kind of coming
9:44
toward,
9:45
like if it continued on the same path,
9:48
it would have run into the back fence
9:50
of my neighbor,
9:52
three doors down to the right of me.
9:54
So it was kind of walking at an
9:56
angle.
9:57
And I
9:59
watched this. thing walk for
10:01
maybe another 10 seconds.
10:03
And like I said, it
10:05
wasn't in a big hurry. But then it kind
10:08
of, it got out of
10:10
view of me because of those wooden
10:13
fences, you know, between our yards.
10:16
It got to where I couldn't see it anymore, even
10:18
from my second story
10:21
perch up there in the window. And
10:24
I thought, I have no idea what
10:26
I just saw. And I
10:28
need to get another look at that. And
10:31
I knew it's like a quarter mile
10:34
to the right. It's just the same
10:36
flat
10:37
ground, right?
10:38
So I thought, I'm going to run downstairs,
10:41
go out the back door and stand
10:43
with my dogs. Surely I'll see this thing.

12:00
to mycomputercareer.edu and
12:02
take the
12:22
thought back
12:24
about this, I thought, why did I do that? But my
12:27
explanation is at the time I
12:29
wasn't intimidated, I wasn't
12:31
afraid, I didn't feel fear
12:33
or anything. The thing never looked at
12:36
me and it didn't come
12:38
at my dogs, it just started
12:40
walking off. And so I
12:42
ran downstairs, went through the living
12:44
room, whipped open the sliding
12:46
glass door. Now I'm in my backyard
12:49
at the wrought iron fence, standing
12:51
over top of my two dogs and
12:54
I got my head shoved through the wrought
12:56
iron fence at this point. I'm looking right, I'm trying,
12:59
I'm thinking surely I'm going to see this thing again because
13:03
it's just a big massive field
13:06
out there, right? And it was
13:08
gone, there was nothing.
13:11
And
13:12
you know to this day I'm thinking,
13:15
I don't think it hopped over my neighbor's fence
13:17
and got in somebody's backyard, I don't think
13:19
that happened. But somehow
13:21
this thing just disappeared and that's quite
13:24
a bit of ground for that
13:26
thing to cover like a quarter mile. And
13:29
I'm thinking it only took me about eight seconds
13:32
to get downstairs and out the backyard. I don't
13:34
know how it could have gone
13:36
that far that quick. So
13:39
I was kind of disappointed, I thought, man,
13:41
I don't know what that was, it
13:43
wasn't a bear, sure of that. But
13:46
I really don't know what that was. And
13:49
I thought I'd get another glimpse
13:51
and it disappeared. So you know
13:53
I went back in the house, I
13:56
had a Sony Handicam at the time,
13:58
late 90s. And
14:01
I had a Motorola flip phone too. So
14:04
anybody, you know, I've heard people say, why
14:06
didn't you take a picture of it? If I
14:08
had had an iPhone back then
14:10
that took great pictures,
14:14
I still don't think I would have had a photo of it because
14:16
that was the last thing on my mind. I was trying
14:19
to, I thought I saw a bear, then
14:21
I was totally confused with what I saw.
14:24
The last thing I would have thought about was get
14:27
the camera out and take a photo. But
14:29
anyway, I didn't have that capability at the
14:31
time anyway but I did have a Sony
14:34
Handicam and I got
14:36
that out and
14:39
I plugged it in, put it on
14:41
the nightstand in that back bedroom
14:43
and left it there for two weeks. I'm thinking tomorrow
14:46
morning, when this thing comes back,
14:48
I'm gonna get a video of it.
14:50
And
14:51
you know, I'll have proof that I saw
14:53
something that I just can't
14:55
explain what it was. So, but
14:57
it never came back. I never
15:00
saw it again. And like
15:02
I said, that was almost 30
15:04
years ago. So I've always
15:07
wondered what the heck that was and I've been fascinated
15:09
with sightings that other people
15:12
have seen and there's some commonalities
15:14
in what I saw and what I've heard
15:16
other people. I didn't see this thing
15:18
be aggressive, it didn't growl. I
15:21
never heard it make a sound. And
15:23
maybe that's why I wasn't like
15:27
worried about my son
15:28
or myself or my dogs or anything. They're just
15:31
more curious than anything else.
15:34
So that's my story.
15:36
I know it happened pretty quick. The whole thing
15:38
happened probably from
15:41
the time I saw this black spot
15:44
until it disappeared from sight was
15:47
probably 30 seconds. So I
15:50
watched it walk and I
15:52
watched it walk on two legs and
15:55
it was black. I couldn't really see facial
15:58
features of it. I mean it looked
16:00
like, you know, I've
16:03
seen the Bigfoot stories
16:05
and went to the movies at a young age
16:08
and saw
16:10
the, what is it, the Patterson films.
16:13
It looked like what I saw in the Patterson
16:15
films. I mean it was just a big
16:18
black, looked kind
16:20
of like a gorilla but this thing did not
16:22
walk hunched over like a gorilla. It
16:25
walked straight like a human with its
16:27
arms swinging. So I have
16:30
no idea what I saw and always
16:32
been curious about it. But
16:35
that's my story Vic, that's my sighting.
16:38
Being as close as it was and of course it wasn't
16:41
right on top of you but
16:42
you were close enough to make out some pretty good details
16:45
in my opinion. What more can you tell us about its
16:47
appearance?
16:49
Well you know just that
16:51
it was black, it wasn't
16:53
like black and brown. It
16:55
looked like a black bear to me. The
17:00
arm length, the
17:03
hand was probably mid-thigh.
17:08
You know I've thought about the height of this thing.
17:11
I've heard people share stories about
17:13
seeing Bigfoots 8, 10, 12 feet tall. This
17:17
one didn't strike me as super intimidating
17:21
and I'll tell you a little bit about that. Maybe
17:23
I'm wrong here but if somebody
17:25
had asked me that day how tall
17:28
was it, I probably would
17:30
have said about 6 feet tall.
17:32
It was stocky.
17:34
It was not
17:35
you know like
17:37
just huge
17:39
by any means but it was stocky. It was
17:42
bigger than I am and I'm 6 feet tall, I'm
17:44
5'11".
17:45
But I felt like it's about the same
17:47
height as me. I probably weighed I don't
17:51
know 250, 300 pounds. It was
17:53
stockier than me. Bigger
17:56
arms, bigger body and all that but
17:58
bigger legs.
18:00
But yeah,
18:02
it didn't seem like
18:06
it wasn't huge. But now I'll
18:08
tell you, you know, just kind of as
18:10
a fun thing I've done with my son since
18:12
we moved here to Alabama
18:15
a long time ago, maybe five years ago. We
18:17
got a pattern on Amazon, a Bigfoot
18:20
pattern. And I bought a sheet of plywood
18:23
and got a jigsaw and
18:26
we cut this Bigfoot
18:28
out of a sheet of plywood. So I've got
18:30
him standing in my yard now, just kind of
18:32
as
18:33
a gimmick type of thing. But
18:35
I've got
18:37
some red reflector eyes on
18:39
him. But I know this
18:42
Bigfoot in my yard is eight feet tall, right? It's
18:44
a sheet of plywood. And I've thought about
18:46
this. I walk out to my driveway.
18:49
I get my mail. I walk back. When
18:51
I'm 40 yards away from this, my
18:54
own Bigfoot in my yard here, I
18:56
could assume it's six feet tall too
18:59
because
18:59
it doesn't look like it's that tall. But
19:02
when you stand next to it, then it's
19:04
intimidating. It really is eight feet tall
19:06
and you see it. But from a distance
19:08
and me being on the second story, when
19:11
I think back, I would have said it was six
19:13
feet tall. It very well could have been eight
19:15
feet tall. I just don't know.
19:18
But yeah,
19:20
I really didn't see facial features.
19:23
You know, again, it was kind of from the
19:25
side and
19:28
it was just covered in black hair.
19:31
Well, it goes without saying, I'm sure that's a sight that's
19:33
been burned into your optic
19:35
nerves. That's a sight you're never going to forget.
19:38
No, sir. I won't.
19:41
It was short and brief, but yeah, you're right.
19:45
You can't forget that. I've told a lot of
19:47
my friends about this story. I'm not
19:49
embarrassed. I think people will
19:52
think I'm crazy. I'm a
19:53
pretty normal guy and
19:55
got no reason to make something
19:57
up like that. I went back to bed. I told my wife.
20:00
I think I just saw a bigfoot. She said,
20:02
oh knock it off, just get in bed. We'll
20:05
get up later. But, you know, she's
20:08
heard my story a bunch and she has
20:10
no idea what it was either. She didn't
20:12
see it.
20:14
It's too bad she responded that way. But
20:16
if you told that many friends about that
20:18
experience, how did they respond?
20:21
You know, surprisingly,
20:23
well, I've got a lot of good friends. I mean, I
20:26
think they all think, well, he saw
20:28
something,
20:29
you know, don't know what it was. They
20:32
may or may not believe in Bigfoot, but
20:35
it's not like they tell me I'm crazy
20:38
and, you know, put this guy in
20:40
the psych ward type
20:42
of reaction.
20:44
All these years, I've always
20:46
said,
20:47
I'm vindicated by my dolls. I
20:49
mean, I never would have gotten out of bed that
20:51
morning. Never would have known
20:53
there was anything behind my house, but my dogs
20:56
woke me up and they saw it.
20:58
Whatever it was, they saw it too. So
21:01
it wasn't just me
21:03
seeing some
21:05
apparition or whatever. There was
21:07
something behind that house and
21:09
I've just never seen anything like
21:11
that that
21:13
walked on two legs. There
21:15
was a fleeting thought at one point. I
21:17
had a neighbor, a couple houses down
21:19
to the right of me, that
21:23
he was kind of a prankster sometimes.
21:25
I thought, is that my neighbor
21:28
Derek in a gorilla suit?
21:30
I mean, I do remember thinking,
21:33
but it wasn't. There was no
21:35
way. So, I mean, I don't
21:40
know.
21:42
Like I said, I have no explanation
21:45
for what I saw and I've always wondered.
21:47
Maybe I'll see another one one day
21:49
and
21:50
I'll have a good iPhone with a
21:52
good camera on it and might
21:55
think about actually using it if I do.
21:58
Well, that's easier said than done. A
22:00
lot of people have watched a Sasquatch walk
22:02
right by with a camera in their hand.
22:05
Never took a photo. But you never know,
22:07
you might be one of those people who does
22:09
pull up the camera and take a snapshot. It's
22:12
just really hard to say it's one of those things that
22:14
you're never going to know you're going to respond until you're
22:16
put in that situation.

23:50
Let's talk about Derek here now.
23:53
He said he was kind of a prankster and
23:55
I'm wondering on your end, what
23:57
makes you so sure considering the fact
23:59
look like it might have been around six
24:02
feet tall and it walked perfectly
24:04
upright. What makes you so sure that it
24:06
couldn't have been Derek in a costume?
24:09
Well I actually asked him two
24:12
days later and you know he thought
24:15
I was a bit crazy when I asked him
24:17
but I said man you
24:19
weren't out in that backseat. I mean for
24:22
one thing in
24:23
this neighborhood that
24:25
we were in these wrought iron fences we
24:27
had across the back.
24:28
Nobody had a gate
24:30
in their backyard. You couldn't get out that
24:32
wrought iron fence. You
24:35
know I thought about this. Why
24:38
didn't I go out there
24:40
and look
24:42
for footprints and you know all
24:45
that stuff. Well it would be
24:47
a long walk for me to get 40
24:49
yards by my house because I'd have to go all
24:51
the way to the front of the neighborhood and walk around.
24:55
There's no way to get back in your yard. So
24:58
yeah I mean he
24:59
told me no. He
25:02
wasn't up laying in the back field in a
25:04
gorilla suit at $530 that or anything. It
25:06
wasn't him.
25:08
So
25:09
yeah thanks for asking.
25:12
Well you're welcome. Yeah just trying
25:14
to be thorough. And he might have thought
25:16
that you were crazy but there are people
25:18
out there that are the true definition
25:20
of the word crazy who just might take
25:22
a potshot as someone who does something like
25:25
that. So there's no future
25:27
in trying to trick people that way.
25:29
You wouldn't get me doing it. Especially
25:32
here in Alabama. There's a lot
25:34
of deer hunters around down here.
25:36
I'm not walking around in a suit
25:39
that looks like an animal. So no.
25:42
Yeah that wouldn't be a wise move.
25:45
Now just to clarify you said that
25:47
as I walked away it was vertical. It wasn't
25:50
hunched over. Does that mean that it was totally
25:52
upright just like a person would walk or
25:54
was there maybe a little bit of a hunch?
25:58
I think
26:00
this thing was pretty straight up
26:02
right. I mean, it, you know, if you're
26:05
walking a little quicker, you might bend
26:07
over a little bit and lean into the walk. But
26:09
this thing was not in a big hurry. It's
26:12
like it wasn't
26:14
afraid of my dogs. Like it knew those
26:16
dogs can't get out of that fence or something. And
26:19
so no, it was just
26:21
like taking a stroll in the park. Its
26:23
back was straight
26:26
up.
26:27
Just so you know, there are people out there who
26:29
know quite a bit about Sasquatch who swear
26:31
up and down. If you see something
26:33
that's walking perfectly vertical like that,
26:36
it can't be a Sasquatch. They can't
26:38
stand up like that. What are your
26:40
thoughts on that?
26:42
You know, I
26:45
guess what I saw would dispute
26:47
that because this,
26:49
I don't think this thing was leaning forward. It
26:53
was just standing up straight and walking.
26:56
Well you were there. You're
26:58
the only person to witness this. So
27:00
who am I? Who would anyone else be to second
27:02
guess what you actually did experience? No,
27:05
I believe you. I do. I'm
27:08
wondering though, how did you find out that
27:10
it was a Sasquatch that you saw? Because at
27:12
the time that this was playing out, you said
27:14
you didn't know what you were looking at.
27:17
Yeah, well, I don't know that that's what
27:19
it was.
27:20
I guess that's why I'm sharing this and I've
27:22
shared it with others is I really
27:25
don't know. I have no other explanation
27:27
for what it might have been.
27:31
But yeah, I mean, I don't
27:33
have like
27:36
foolproof
27:38
way of knowing what the heck this thing
27:41
was. I know it wasn't a bear
27:44
and that's the closest thing that it
27:46
could have been when it was laying down. After it
27:48
stood up and walked, that's where it lost
27:50
me. I'm like,
27:52
I've never seen anything like this before.
27:54
Well, I'm sure you hadn't. I should have
27:57
framed that question up for you better. What
27:59
I was wondering. was how long did it take
28:01
you to start Sasquatch
28:05
that you saw because when
28:11
it was
28:13
before I ran downstairs. I
28:16
mean it was pretty immediate when
28:18
it stood up
28:20
on two legs and turned and
28:23
I saw its arm swinging as
28:25
it was walking. I think
28:27
that's when it first clicked to me.
28:30
I didn't say darn
28:32
that's a Sasquatch but
28:35
I think that thought went through my brain. It
28:39
was more of a question.
28:41
Am I looking at a Sasquatch?
28:43
That idea popped in my head when I saw
28:46
it stand up turn and start walking
28:48
on two legs. At that point
28:51
I said that is not a bear. That
28:53
really does near down the possibilities on
28:55
what it could have been when
28:58
you see it stand up and walk like that. I
29:01
think so. You
29:03
know I've thought about I mean
29:06
you see bears in the circus
29:09
that are trained to do that but
29:12
always picture them with their
29:14
front legs kind of up in
29:17
the air. They're not down by their sidewalk
29:20
and they only do it for a short walk.
29:24
This thing was going to walk all its
29:26
way back to the
29:27
Sierra foothills.
29:29
I believe
29:30
if you get on Google
29:33
Maps and you look down
29:35
at this house and the field and the creek
29:38
and the layout of it then there
29:40
were less homes you know back in
29:42
the late 90s. It's grown up since then
29:44
it's California. There's
29:47
a clear path all the way up
29:49
to Auburn, California
29:51
and the Sierra Mountains and the foothills.
29:54
That thing could walk
29:55
without ever crossing the road or going through
29:58
anybody's property. all
30:00
the way back to the mountains of that sort
30:02
of game.
30:04
That sounds like my kind of country. Nice,
30:08
I like the sound of that. Now
30:10
you told us that you had seen the Patterson Gimlin
30:13
film, but what were
30:15
your thoughts on the existence of Sasquatch
30:17
before you had that sighting?
30:20
You know, I'm glad you asked that.
30:23
I always thought it was interesting. I
30:25
mean it
30:26
definitely caught my attention, but again
30:29
growing up in Virginia, hunting
30:30
with my dad a lot in the woods, you
30:34
know I've always kind of been outdoorsy,
30:37
played a lot of sports growing up. It
30:39
never really changed my lifestyle.
30:41
I mean I just, I wasn't terrified
30:44
to be out in the woods. Although there's
30:46
been times when my head's been on a swivel,
30:49
you know, you're out deer hunting and you hear
30:52
a stick crack or whatever. You
30:54
know, I've always thought, I
30:57
mean who am I to say somebody
30:59
didn't see what they think they saw?
31:02
That's why I like listening to the stories of
31:05
other people. I mean the people
31:08
on your show, I mean you listen to them. They're
31:10
not reading from a script, they're telling you
31:12
from experience what they saw which is just
31:14
what I did. I don't have anything written down
31:16
here. I've told this story
31:19
a bunch of times. Didn't
31:22
know how I was going to start
31:24
this today, you know, and tell you,
31:26
but I just spoke from experience. I
31:29
saw what I saw and it's
31:32
too bad that I
31:35
guess we haven't
31:37
proven
31:38
one, but I don't want somebody to
31:40
go out and shoot one to prove they exist,
31:43
but maybe get a good video
31:45
or something or a really good picture.
31:48
I don't know how you really prove it, but I
31:50
don't discount the possibility. Something's
31:52
out there we don't know about
31:54
and I
31:56
mean
31:58
I have my own personal experience.
31:59
I saw something I can't explain.
32:02
I can't explain the fact that it was walking upright,
32:04
but it sure sounds to me like you still
32:07
saw one, and that's all there is to it.
32:10
I'm wondering though, Paul, had anything gone missing
32:12
from your property before that day, or
32:15
did anything else happen on or around your
32:17
property that you think that Sasquatch
32:19
might have been responsible for?
32:22
No,
32:23
no, not really.
32:25
That wrought iron fence in our backyard was
32:27
probably eight feet tall.
32:30
No, nothing came up missing, and it
32:32
was a small yard. We didn't have much back there
32:34
anyway.
32:35
Maybe a picnic table and a couple of
32:37
lawn chairs or something. But
32:39
no, we weren't missing anything.
32:42
I think it was about
32:43
fall time. It was kind of maybe
32:45
a
32:46
little
32:49
cooler that morning. You know, food
32:51
supply might be running out. This thing took a
32:53
little longer walk than normal and made
32:55
its way all the way to the back
32:57
of my subdivision, left the foothills
32:59
a little bit to venture out for food
33:02
or something.
33:03
No, it wasn't taking stuff off
33:06
of our property.
33:07
You had your dogs back there too, so the
33:10
odds that he would have come into your backyard
33:13
to try and take something or mess with something
33:15
are slim to none. I mean,
33:17
he's more than intelligent enough to know
33:19
that if he tried to come anywhere near those
33:21
dogs would start barking and raising a lot of
33:23
attention. So, yeah, why do
33:26
that?
33:27
Yep, yep.
33:28
He's not going to do that.

35:02
Now you told us how big that field was back
35:04
behind your property, but how about the preserve?
35:07
How big was it?
35:09
You know, that's
35:11
a good question. And that's why
35:14
I gave the address. Anybody could look
35:16
at this on Google Earth.
35:19
5543 Cabrillo Way,
35:21
that was my house. And you
35:23
can see back behind
35:25
the house, that field, there's that creek
35:28
that runs down the middle of that field
35:30
or the wetlands. It
35:33
was probably, you
35:35
know, several hundred yards
35:37
across before you hit
35:39
more homes on the other side. But
35:42
then it went to the right
35:45
back toward the foothills, you
35:47
know, for miles.
35:49
And I could see it was flat. So
35:52
I could see for at
35:54
least a quarter mile, if not a half a mile.
35:57
It was just flat, flat land.
35:59
So
36:01
in terms of acres,
36:05
again, maybe there's
36:07
a way to measure that thing on Google
36:09
Earth. I've grown up
36:11
on farms in Virginia. Across
36:13
from my dad, there's a hundred acre farm.
36:17
This was at least a couple of those
36:19
hundred acre farms that I could see
36:21
out behind my house. So
36:24
a few hundred acres back there.
36:26
Yeah, you didn't have any lack of room to room, that's
36:28
for sure. Of course that preserve
36:30
is going to have a boundary to it, but
36:33
they don't recognize boundaries. He could have just kept
36:35
on going and going and going. So he had
36:37
a lot of room.
36:39
Yeah, I mean, he could walk for days back
36:41
there.
36:42
There were no fences or roads or houses
36:44
or anything like that. I've looked at that
36:46
and I could see how it could,
36:49
if it was living up in the mountains, it could make
36:51
its way down there uninhibited
36:53
by other things.
36:57
It sure sounds like it.
36:59
I'm still a little cloudy on this Paul. How long
37:01
did you live there at that residence after having
37:03
that sighting?
37:05
Let's see, a
37:06
couple more years. I mean, we weren't ready
37:09
to pack up and move because of that by
37:11
any means. I mean, we
37:14
think the economy changed a
37:16
little bit.
37:17
Let's see, in 2002,
37:20
that's when we moved and we didn't move far.
37:22
We moved to Roseville. We sold
37:24
that Rockland house in 2002.
37:28
I guess I was there another five years
37:30
after that.
37:31
Another five years and no sightings?
37:34
No sightings.
37:36
Yeah, that's no surprise. That's how it
37:38
normally goes. Now, you told
37:40
us that you told your wife about that
37:42
sighting and then you got the pretty predictable
37:45
response, but did you have any misgivings
37:47
about doing that before you actually did tell her?
37:51
No, I don't think so. I mean,
37:54
I think I was still a little bit in shock
37:57
when I made it back to the bedroom. I was scratching
37:59
my head. thinking
38:02
what in the world was that and I you
38:05
want to talk to somebody right you want to let somebody
38:07
know I so I'm
38:09
sure I said something there I said I think
38:11
I just saw a Bigfoot and
38:15
I joke around a lot of comedian
38:18
bone in me so that she probably took
38:20
it that way but I was dead serious I mean I
38:23
I saw something I can't explain I
38:25
probably called my brother pretty
38:28
close with him and he was living
38:30
in Florida at the time I'm pretty
38:33
sure I called him that day or the
38:35
next day and said you're not gonna believe
38:37
this and told him what I
38:39
saw but yeah I
38:41
didn't tell a lot of people right away
38:46
but over time you know as the years
38:48
go on I'm
38:50
it's a good topic of conversation
38:52
at a party these days hanging out with
38:55
friends going to a restaurant or whatever so a
38:57
lot of my friends have heard
39:00
my story and
39:02
yeah I don't think anybody thinks well
39:04
and he just made that up
39:06
why would I I mean
39:09
again I'd go back to my dogs I
39:12
never would have gotten out of bed if it hadn't
39:14
been for them they saw something and
39:17
I saw it too and I don't know what it was
39:20
well Paul it's one heck of a story to be able to tell
39:23
it's a story that a lot of people would love
39:25
to be able to tell on their own but
39:27
it just haven't had that experience so
39:30
I hope you wear it like a badge of honor
39:32
I do like I said I put
39:34
one up in my yard and my
39:37
brother bought me a Bigfoot crossing
39:39
sign about a year or two ago
39:41
it's at the end of my driveway we
39:44
had fun with it but
39:46
yeah
39:47
it would be cool to see another one one
39:49
day and who
39:50
knows maybe I will I look
39:52
out my back windows here in Montgomery all
39:54
the time
39:57
thinking wow am I ever
39:59
gonna see an one of those but so far
40:01
I haven't but
40:06
almost 60. Yeah
40:07
if you're almost 60
40:12
you've got a long way to go. That's right. And
40:17
keep looking Paul you just might see
40:19
another Sasquatch someday.
40:21
You never know. Keep my fingers crossed. Yep.
40:24
That's right. Well thanks again
40:26

40:28
experience with us. I really appreciate
40:31
