Guest: Dr. Jacob J. Shelley (Faculty of Law and the School of Health Studies at Western University).

Dr. Shelley has a doctorate in law from the University of Toronto. His doctoral thesis examined the use of private law in obesity prevention, specifically looking at the use of product liability law to require food manufacturers to warn consumers about the dangers inherent in their food products.

Dr. Shelley holds a joint appointment with the Faculty of Law and the School of Health Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University. Dr. Shelley is a Director of the Health Ethics, Law & Policy Lab at Western.

We’re excited to speak to Dr. Shelley and learn more about his particular focus and how it relates to the Canadian government’s new study, specifically from the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA). Its final report points out that no amount of alcohol is safe and that consuming any more than two drinks a week is risky.
