1:59

legend and he plays even more golf

2:02

than I do on his YouTube channel. It's

2:04

tubes. We've got so much to

2:06

talk about. So let's get on with it. Yes,

2:09

everyone. How's it going? Welcome

2:11

to Beast Golf Club, where I'm joined

2:14

today by a good, good friend of mine,

2:16

someone who probably plays more

2:19

golf than I do. Probably someone

2:21

who plays more golf than literally nearly every

2:23

pro. It's tubes.

2:25

How are you, man? You beef, you absolute

2:28

legend. How are you, pal? I'm great, mate.

2:30

I'm great. How are you? I'm absolutely

2:32

loving life. Full time

2:34

on golf life now, less sky sports.

2:37

Still by the average of golf, but absolutely

2:40

love it. That's what, well,

2:42

generally you've answered my first question. Your YouTube

2:45

channel, were you filmed it probably what, four years

2:47

ago? When

2:49

it started? When we started the

2:51

channel, I said, we

2:53

need to get beef on. I love the bloke.

2:55

He's been on soccer and before. Absolutely

2:58

adoring. And you were great. You came on

3:00

and one of the best, still

3:02

one of the best videos we've done

3:04

to actually watch you up close and have a laugh

3:06

with you and talk about, you know, your

3:08

upbringing and your golf was amazing. Then we did that

3:10

little funny challenge where you smashed

3:13

eggs over my head

3:15

in front of the clubhouse. It was absolutely

3:17

mag-motional beef. What

3:20

I remember though, because it was a really close

3:22

and we had it on AT. Did you hit a really good shot?

3:24

He'd on 18 on the part three and I was like, Oh no,

3:26

he's going to crack heads of, he's going to crack

3:28

eggs over my head. I was like, I can't believe this. And

3:31

then I absolutely bottled it. Didn't I? With a pun.

3:33

I think I think about a seven

3:35

part. Certainly

3:40

we are spell out. But that was

3:42

at the start when you started playing golf, right? Yeah.

3:45

So, um, I've been playing

3:48

golf. Well, I've been playing golf properly

3:50

since I've kept up alcohol, which is nearly

3:52

seven years now.

3:53

Um, so we started the channel about

3:55

four years ago. So yeah, that was just as I started

3:58

because I was just asking you question after question.

3:59

and

4:00

you really helped that day as well. That's

4:03

amazing. How has your golf come on since

4:05

golf life has started? It's

4:08

a lot better. My golf is a lot better,

4:10

but like you just said in the intro,

4:13

I do play quite a lot of it. So I should

4:16

be a lot better than I actually am. But

4:18

I am a lot better. I'm down

4:21

to like 16, but I

4:23

never fill in my card beef.

4:24

I never fill in my card because sometimes we like

4:28

we film, we do alternate shots. Sometimes

4:30

it's best ball. Sometimes it's nine holes. So

4:33

it's poor for me. I don't actually fill in that

4:35

the app.

4:36

So I reckon I'm about a 14, 15. Yeah,

4:40

that's still amazing though. And then you've got your

4:42

brother on Big Ange. Big Ange,

4:44

loving. And then Jimmy as well.

4:47

So it's an absolute trio of chaos.

4:50

Oh, man. It literally is chaos.

4:52

It literally is chaos. But

4:54

the thinking, well, me and Ange started the channel, you

4:57

know, four years ago. And we

5:00

were like, we want to sort

5:02

of like have

5:03

you go to golf life for everything. So

5:06

like we go for the fun, you go for the podcast

5:08

feel, you know, the interviews and the last,

5:10

but what me and Ange can't offer is

5:12

top quality golf, which some

5:14

people love. But then we've had

5:17

Jimmy on the channel a few times. And

5:19

he's a really good mate of mine. And I was like, he's a

5:21

scratch golfer. Some love Jimmy Bullard.

5:25

He can offer those 18 holes

5:27

scratch matches. So you can

5:29

go to the golf life to watch them as well.

5:31

There's Jimmy Bullard hanging off a golf cart

5:34

or jumping in LA. We can

5:36

cover everything. So it's been really good having him

5:38

on board. And he's helped us as well with

5:40

our golf game. So it's been cool, man. What's some

5:42

of the best tips he's given you?

5:44

He says, because I always talk

5:46

about my grip.

5:49

And he's like, Chosey, Chosey, Chosey,

5:51

don't worry about your grip, mate. Don't worry about your

5:53

grip. It's all about the ball strike, all about the ball

5:55

strike. So he's taught

5:58

me that he's like,

5:59

So you can change your grip, but

6:02

the most important thing is how you

6:04

strike the golf ball. And it's like

6:06

getting in the center of the club and the impact. And

6:08

he's did like the one o'clock tip, like come

6:11

into a dress at one o'clock on the on the

6:13

clock face. So that's really

6:15

helps because I was always a bit like I'm holding

6:17

like a baseball bat, which I do. But

6:20

he said before you start doing all that, make

6:22

sure you connect with the balls that just

6:25

little tips like that being really helpful. Yeah, it's

6:27

brilliant. It's always good to have someone,

6:29

a scratch golfer on board and someone

6:32

who played and knows exactly what

6:34

they're doing and stuff and can really help. That's really

6:36

cool. But it's been great because all the footballers,

6:39

they're all like, I want to take Jimmy on. I want to

6:41

take Jimmy on. I'm like, yes, fair enough.

6:43

Come on. I mean, it's brilliant

6:45

for the channels, but pretty for people to watch. So

6:48

when he beats another one, another

6:50

one goes, well, I want to take him on. So it's been

6:52

great. It's been really good. Yeah. Because

6:55

you've had some amazing guests on. It's

6:57

been incredible. I see all these guests

7:00

pop up and stuff. Who's been some of the best golfers?

7:03

The best golfers, what footballers or any golfers?

7:06

Anyone who you've had on. Well,

7:08

you, my good friend, you are unbelievable.

7:11

Matt Fitzpatrick was

7:14

incredible.

7:16

That was so weird. That was, I think

7:18

that was

7:19

maybe a little bit after you. I think you might even

7:21

saw your episode and

7:23

was like, this agent got in concept.

7:26

He was like, hello, tubes. Have you all really

7:28

loving the new golf channel? I was like, would you like

7:30

Matt Fitzpatrick on? I went,

7:33

um, yeah. Yes, I would. But

7:36

like, it was before he won all like the major

7:39

tournaments and stuff, but watching him and his attention

7:42

to detail,

7:43

it was like, I'm going to land it there.

7:45

And he's talking about blade of grass

7:47

and he landed it there. He was like, I'm going to spin it and

7:49

it's going to end up there. And I was like,

7:53

I suppose we do an interview, but I just thought, oh, what?

7:57

What is going on? So he was

7:59

amazing.

7:59

We had Billy Horshaw on

8:02

the other week.

8:04

And

8:05

what's up, like he is, by the way,

8:07

because his wife is also seven years

8:09

sober. So we had a really good chat about

8:12

foundations. He started up and about

8:15

how it was like living with an alcoholic and

8:18

he was an amazing man. I absolutely loved

8:20

him. Danny Willick came on, got a hole

8:22

in one. We missed it.

8:24

Absolutely gutted

8:26

about that. We

8:28

were filming with, it was

8:32

me and Zane Scotland versus Angie

8:34

and Danny Willick. And we had

8:36

a bit of audio issues so that I could see the

8:38

cameraman struggling a bit. And

8:41

I was like, well, so if there's any problems, stop. We

8:43

get it fixed and we go again. He's like,

8:45

yes, a bit crackly. I was like, we're not having crackles. We can't

8:47

have crackles, so stop it. So all

8:50

we heard was, like that.

8:52

And then you could hear like in the background, Danny

8:54

Willick go, oh, that's close, that's

8:57

close. I'm like, oh no.

8:59

Like that.

9:00

And we're like, okay. So we've gone back up,

9:02

he goes, I've got one right

9:04

next to the pin. I was like, well, we weren't filming. He's like, what

9:06

do you mean you weren't filming? He was like,

9:09

oh, we were doing sound. He's like, okay, well, I

9:11

said, you've got to hit another one for the purpose of

9:13

the video. So he hit another

9:15

one, not a good shot. As we're walking up, he's like,

9:17

I can't see that bull. I can't see that bull.

9:19

I'm like, ah, shit.

9:22

I was

9:23

like, he was close. I know it was close. I was like,

9:25

oh, please don't go on here with me. Just hold him

9:27

one and go, he's got it. He's

9:30

walked up, he's gone, yes.

9:34

He's celebrated. I'm going, ah. I'm

9:37

like, yeah. Oh,

9:40

man. I'm like, absolute margaroonies.

9:44

I'm like that. It sounds like we've got to just tell

9:46

the truth and say we missed it. They're like, can we

9:48

doctor the shot? I was like, we don't cheat on this channel.

9:51

Everything that goes out, goes out. I know

9:53

the re-hits or anything like that. We can't fake

9:55

a holy one and go, oh, that's close.

9:58

Oh, let's see if it's a holy. Oh, it is. So

10:01

we just had to have an up and go, this is what's

10:03

happened. But it was amazing. But

10:06

the footballers, John

10:08

Terry's very good golfer, Mati

10:10

Cash

10:11

from Aston Villa,

10:13

he is mustard.

10:15

He is so, so good.

10:17

Jamie O'Hara is good.

10:19

But Jimmy gave him a

10:21

good lesson. 18-hole match. We had

10:23

the audience down. O'Hara was giving

10:25

it a bit big time. And then

10:27

he got beat by Jimmy. There's

10:30

been so many good players. Yeah,

10:32

so many good ones. That's so good. And

10:35

you have such a laugh as well. What

10:37

have been some of the most embarrassing moments you've

10:39

had filming all of this? Oh,

10:42

my God. Apart from the holding one. Getting

10:45

an egg crack round the edge. Embarrassing

10:53

moments.

10:54

Do you know what? I don't... It sounds a bit

10:56

weird, but

10:58

it's all about having a laugh. So I don't really

11:00

get embarrassed.

11:01

I mean, I'm a 41-year-old man doing birdie

11:04

dances and stuff. So I mean, people could say that's

11:06

embarrassing, but I don't really

11:08

care. I'm just... Golf brings

11:10

me so much happiness. And as soon as I get out to

11:13

that first team, I'm like, I

11:15

don't really get embarrassed, but if you know what I'm like,

11:17

I just like pricking around. Yeah,

11:20

there's not really... There's

11:23

a couple of things back in the day where I thought

11:25

we shouldn't have done that. Because there's a line for

11:28

me. There's about having a laugh and there's

11:30

being respectful. And when we're

11:32

doing those... Those

11:35

sort of like you, me and a part three of them, if you

11:37

lost, you had to do a forfeit. There was

11:39

one where we did it with Jimmy back

11:41

in the day and he's gone, Chobse, I've got

11:44

an absolute diamond of a forfeit,

11:46

Gaze. Here we go. It's called buggy

11:48

surfing.

11:49

I went, oh, Christ. What am I doing for

11:52

a fist with Jimmy Bullard? So

11:54

I

11:55

think we drew the hole. But

11:57

you must know what buggy surfing is. You basically hold...

11:59

onto the

12:01

back of the buggy and the other one drives full pelt

12:03

and you're getting dragged along with you know

12:05

your back on the floor like

12:07

that and I'm thinking

12:10

I'm all up for a laugh but then Jimmy

12:12

takes it too far then he's like he's

12:14

going way like that and there's just all these people

12:16

drinking their pims out on the old out on

12:19

the open like down the bar and

12:21

I'm just going past like that I'm

12:23

like oh god so that was quite embarrassing

12:26

and they were like yeah probably don't do that and

12:28

I was like no that's a bit too much so that was

12:30

quite embarrassing but getting

12:33

a getting a get do you know what Matt Pittspatrick

12:36

actually I said it's um red

12:38

arse with a golf ball which is a

12:40

really bad idea because he's hit a golf

12:43

ball and it's hit me straight on the cocc snips

12:45

oh yeah

12:48

that weren't good it weren't embarrassing that

12:50

just really bloody hurt

12:51

that was the forfeit yeah I

12:54

don't know why I said it guys you'll get guy

12:56

went on to win the US Masters and

12:58

I'm saying yeah try and hit one massive

13:01

round up with a golf boy he's just gone bang

13:03

oh it is straight up it I'm like

13:06

but no yeah yeah yeah

13:09

speaking some good ones can I ask

13:11

what golf course it was you did the buggy

13:13

surfing yeah Tyrrell's

13:15

Wood and then we

13:18

got an email it was quite funny Tyrrell's

13:21

Wood is a lovely lovely golf course and

13:23

I know we're in the wrong we shouldn't have been doing

13:25

that there's a fine line

13:27

like I said but um they

13:29

were like yeah I don't think the members were too happy

13:32

but then they saw um they saw

13:35

the views go 200,000, 300,000, 400,000, 500,000 they're

13:37

like but if you do want to come back it's absolutely fair

13:45

and I'm so sorry I'm so sorry I'm so sorry

13:48

but we haven't actually been back

13:50

but we are going back so it's a lovely place round

13:52

my way here oh that is so

13:54

good watch

13:57

the video it's literally pays for that in

13:59

the summer as well

13:59

well and the grounds rock hard.

14:02

I've got this nice little fresh puma jumper and he's

14:04

absolutely just ripped. I'm like,

14:06

so I'm not the lightest of boys.

14:09

You know what I mean? I'm

14:12

like, unbelievable.

14:16

Unbelievable. Mate, they're

14:18

absolutely insane

14:20

forfeits. And I'd take it the

14:22

one we did was probably the most stupid.

14:24

You put me on the spot about a forfeit.

14:27

I panicked. And that's the only thing I could kind

14:29

of work out was the

14:32

crack an egg over each other's head. It was

14:34

just so random. I said

14:36

before we got to the filming, I was like, I was

14:38

going to do a forfeit. Like, you're like,

14:40

yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Why

14:43

don't we crack eggs over each other's heads? I

14:45

went, um, yeah, I said,

14:48

is this egg sell eggs for the golf club?

14:50

And you went, no. I went, so

14:52

we sent out one of the cameramen, he just

14:54

put a cart on the legs and came back here. Oh,

14:56

no. So it was

14:59

like whoever lost the par three had

15:01

to crack an egg over

15:04

someone's head. And

15:06

it was so funny. Because if you look back at

15:08

it,

15:09

there's because your club's lovely, isn't it?

15:11

And obviously they love you. You've got your shine there and

15:13

all the sorts of rights, Lisa. But

15:15

there's like two or three old boys in the

15:17

background and you're going ready? I'm like,

15:19

no, you've just gone bang. It's just going.

15:21

Oh,

15:23

they're just like, what

15:26

is going on here? It's

15:32

so, and

15:34

I remember getting in the car because I

15:36

didn't know you were going to say you got crack eggs. We

15:38

didn't have a tower. I just sat on

15:40

the way home. I was like, it's

15:42

good. I just think it would be like that. Maybe

15:45

I can shell all over my face. It

15:52

works on me, but it was really fun.

16:00

Did you play golf? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

16:02

Why do you got egg yolk in your eyebrow? I know. Well,

16:05

I lost the challenge, mum. I

16:12

was just, I couldn't think of any other challenges.

16:14

I thought, I don't know

16:16

about this. Just eggs. We're

16:19

in the middle of no-heats. Go get some

16:21

eggs. The

16:25

local co-op like that, go to golfers. Go

16:27

get some eggs, please. Yeah. Go on there. Go

16:29

on. Mate, how

16:32

did the birdie dance start? When

16:35

I started playing golf,

16:37

I just

16:39

don't know why. But it's like a song, isn't it? It's

16:41

actually a doo doo doo doo doo

16:43

doo. I just remembered it. And

16:46

I put it on Instagram one day. I was like, I've just got

16:48

a birdie. I'll never get a birdie. And

16:50

I just went, hang on. Birdie

16:53

dance or something. So

16:56

when I started doing that, I just go doo doo doo

16:58

doo doo. It's absolutely genius.

17:00

It's not really genius at all. It's just basically

17:03

getting a song and doing a little dance to it.

17:05

So I started doing it.

17:07

And then do you know what the most amazing

17:09

thing is now for me? It makes us so proud. It's

17:12

like

17:13

we're on a golf course, and people don't know

17:15

we're there. And you can hear people

17:17

on another green going, doo doo doo doo doo doo

17:19

doo doo doo. And I'm just like,

17:21

wow. And loads of people sending videos

17:24

and doing it. And it's like, we're

17:26

doing all right here. Thank you for watching our channel and

17:29

doing the birdie dance and all sorts.

17:31

Andy Sullivan

17:33

did it on tour.

17:35

He said, I'm going to do that on tour. I was

17:37

like, no, you won't. He was like, I will. And

17:39

then he got a birdie on tour. And you could see his caddy

17:41

going. He was like,

17:43

oh, yeah. I was like, this is unreal. What

17:47

is going on here? We got

17:50

a couple of Ipsut shrookbullers did it as

17:53

a goal celebration. That is amazing.

17:55

That's so cool. Because I saw

17:58

another amazing one as well. when you

18:00

played the Wentworth Pro-Am and

18:02

you made the birdie, you made that long putt on the 14th

18:05

green and did it. And you could

18:07

see the whole crowd doing it. Honestly,

18:10

that probably is the best moment of my life. Take

18:13

out any friends or family. Like,

18:16

I will never get a cheer like that again in my life.

18:18

And like, I was like, I could, you know what? Another

18:21

thing I could not believe. Like,

18:23

when we got to that Wentworth thing, they

18:26

were like, you're getting cars to take you to the

18:29

UT blocks. And we started

18:31

on like, where it was like the 11th.

18:34

So as we're driving up, I said to the driver,

18:36

Jesus Christ, who's playing, who's team

18:39

off there? And he went, oh, that's

18:41

the, I think that's the 11th.

18:43

I went, what?

18:45

I think that's the 11th. I went, I need

18:47

to the check. I was like,

18:49

oh my God.

18:50

So we got, they're all there for golf

18:52

life. I'm like,

18:54

I couldn't believe it. I was a bit emotional, if I'm honest.

18:56

I

18:57

was like, they're all there to watch out. And they were

18:59

all going doo doo doo doo doo doo doo

19:02

doo. Soft lemons, and

19:04

the shanky lempards, shanky Datori.

19:06

I'm like, oh my God. I felt like I was

19:08

like one of the Beatles, me and Andrew. Like, oh, come

19:11

on. I was like, Jimmy's like,

19:13

oh my God. Even Jimmy was a bit like, Jesus.

19:17

So they followed us the whole way around. All the

19:19

way, well, 16 holes. It was mad,

19:21

man. It was,

19:22

but yeah, that part, I still can't believe it. That's

19:25

probably the strongest part of my game to be fair.

19:28

Pardon. Did that make you feel more or more nervous or less nervous

19:30

on that team? More nervous. Yeah.

19:33

And I'm more concerned

19:36

because they're all standing down the side. I'm

19:38

like, you do, you do watch the channel, don't

19:40

you? This could go anywhere. I mean, I

19:43

was like, they're all like,

19:46

you shouldn't be, you should be like more like that

19:49

because I've absolutely seen

19:51

one straight on the dance floor. Come on. But

19:54

I tell you what, the year before

19:57

was the most nerve wracking thing ever

19:59

because

20:00

I'd never played a pro-am,

20:02

never played a pro-am and then Gulf Life

20:04

was starting to get bigger and

20:07

they said, oh do you want to come and play it that went with pro-am?

20:10

And I was like, that sounds pretty big

20:13

because I

20:14

love playing golf. What it's

20:16

done for me mentally, it's

20:18

been amazing. I love it but I don't, I'm not a massive

20:20

watcher or follower of it. Like

20:23

I love to ride a cup, I watch a ride a cup but like

20:25

I'm not like, you know, Ang knows everything. Jimmy's

20:27

like a golf player, he knows every tournament,

20:29

every player. So I was like, when was

20:32

pro-am sounds like it's absolutely

20:34

massive. They went, oh yeah, you're playing with Billy

20:36

Horshaw and Mark Noble. I

20:39

went, oh cool, you know Mark, I know

20:41

I've heard of Billy Horshaw but

20:44

I didn't know Billy Horshaw won it the year

20:46

before,

20:47

the actual tournament. So that means he tees

20:49

off first on the first tee.

20:52

So I've turned up and just walked in

20:54

with my bag.

20:55

He's like, oh you're off the first tee. I'm like, oh cool,

20:57

cool, cool. I've walked round the corner

21:00

and there's stands full of people like

21:03

that and I went,

21:04

oh fuck

21:06

like that and my whole body just went

21:08

into, I nearly had another heart attack. I

21:10

went, oh

21:11

what's up? There's

21:13

a geezer on the mic. Cats on the tee from

21:16

golf like these tubes. And

21:18

I just blanked, I couldn't feel my arms.

21:20

I was so nervous because there

21:22

was a little like whoa, I'm like oh my

21:25

God.

21:25

But again I managed to do all right and get it down the middle.

21:28

That's the biggest buzz. It is. I

21:30

mean like when you cross over in sports and do different

21:32

things, it's nerve-racking. Do

21:35

you get nervous before like

21:37

when I'm in this crowd? Yeah, you

21:39

get nervous but like you get used

21:41

to it, right? So you know what

21:43

to expect. You know there's going to be crowds. I'd say the

21:45

only one you wouldn't be

21:48

used to would be Ryder Cup because

21:50

it's so different from any other first tee

21:53

or atmosphere. So that's like on

21:55

another scale. But

21:57

generally like yeah, you get nerves every time you

21:59

tee.

23:58

So when

24:01

you're 16, 17, 18, 19, it's

24:04

like, it's the norm and you're going out, you're getting drunk,

24:06

but I was always the one, I

24:08

used to just drink quick to get this, to

24:11

get that feeling, to get that buzz. And

24:13

I'm a shy boy, I'm a shy bloke. So

24:15

I was like, and it was like a mechanism as

24:18

well to be more relaxed around people.

24:21

So I drink, I drink. But as

24:23

it went on, I was like,

24:25

I'm actually, I've got a problem here. I've

24:27

got a problem, but

24:28

it was so important to my life. My whole

24:31

life would be revolved around it. Like

24:35

I'd look at the Chelsea fixture list. And

24:37

it wasn't like, oh, Mason, Chelsea,

24:40

United, Chelsea, Liverpool. It's like brilliant

24:42

Sunday game. That means I can go

24:44

out after soccer all day Saturday, get

24:46

pissed, get up in the morning, first

24:49

thing go. And then it was like,

24:51

so I've got also got an interview on Tuesday. So

24:53

I

24:54

try not to drink Monday night

24:56

because it's worth. But

24:59

then after the interview, I can, it's

25:01

my whole psyche was like, when

25:03

can I drink and when can't, and it was

25:05

becoming a problem, like a real, real problem.

25:08

And then when my dad passed away

25:10

for a year after that, I was

25:13

quite good. I was still drinking. I was

25:15

still drinking, but a year about six months

25:17

to a year later, I had a real dick.

25:20

Like it was, I think it's called post-traumatic

25:22

stress. I think it's called that same like that. And

25:26

then that's when it just stepped up. It was like

25:28

the drinking wasn't fun anymore. I'd literally go

25:31

out my whole life, the whole week, plan around drink.

25:33

But then I'd be buying little, little

25:37

vodkas

25:38

just to have them with me at all times. So if I

25:40

woke up, I'd go to the pub. But before

25:42

I got to the pub, I went down little vodkas to

25:45

get that buzz. And I was constantly

25:47

chasing that buzz. So

25:50

when I

25:51

finally admitted, like it was a mess,

25:53

it was a mess. There's no point in going into

25:55

it like what, but it was just absolute, I was

25:57

so addicted to alcohol, it was unbelievable.

26:00

first thing in the morning, first thing I do under

26:02

the bed, pick up a vodka, bang,

26:05

I call it a little led luck. So

26:08

when I finally admitted, I was just ruining

26:10

so many people's lives, not just mine. And for

26:12

me, the most important thing was

26:14

my mum, my mum had lost her husband, my dad,

26:16

all my friends were like, this is ridiculous. We

26:19

can't carry on about what you're doing. So

26:21

one day I just went and that's enough. Everyone was

26:23

like, yeah, we've heard this before. I said, no, no, no, no,

26:25

this is it. This is it. I'm not upset

26:27

at my mum anymore. It's unfair. I've lost so

26:30

many relationships over as well. Because

26:32

you know, it's a liability. So

26:34

I was like, right, I need to do stuff that

26:38

I can see my friends enjoy myself, which doesn't

26:41

involve going to the pub or

26:43

because in this country, it's

26:45

very, you know, it's like, where'd you get in? What's

26:47

the football? When you go to football?

26:50

What you do? You go to the pub. So

26:52

I was like,

26:56

and just the golf, he's played golf. I

26:58

used to play now again by it boredly.

27:01

I used to get to nine hours and start, let's

27:04

go to the pub.

27:07

So I was like, right,

27:09

I'm going to start golf. And

27:11

I just started just kicked in my

27:13

head. I was like, this is the bollocks.

27:16

This is so good. Like, I've

27:19

got my friends, I don't need to

27:21

be drinking alcohol.

27:23

And I've been such a laugh.

27:25

And there

27:26

was an addiction there was like, when you hit

27:28

that good shot, you know, I'm like, now people like

27:31

the 41 year old and I'm celebrating golf

27:33

shots like football goals, because

27:35

it generally gives me that pulse. I'm like, come

27:37

on, like the sense the birdie dance and once

27:40

in a lifetime, the old evil dance comes out. But

27:42

I'm such a buzz about playing golf

27:45

and trying to get better.

27:47

So I was like, so from not

27:49

from not wanting to play nine hours, I could

27:52

do 36 now and just be out there the whole day

27:54

with your mates. So really helped

27:56

me

27:58

get you know, stay off the alcohol.

27:59

Because once you get past six months

28:02

and you transform your life, it becomes

28:04

a lot easier. So golf, golf, golf, golfing,

28:07

golfing, holidays, it's like

28:10

all the boys go out, I just go out for a meal

28:12

and I'll just be buzzing for the next round of golf

28:14

the next morning. So it has helped me massively,

28:16

to be honest, mate, massively.

28:19

And that's like testament as well to you

28:21

to turn things around and

28:23

like openly talk about

28:25

it will help so many people

28:28

as well. I mean, it's amazing, mate. Yeah,

28:31

I think it's important to talk

28:33

about these things because, you

28:35

know, this role of Metro man and all that, but

28:37

as you well know, mate, if you're struggling,

28:40

you feel so much better when you say,

28:43

I'm not fine. Or

28:46

in my case, I'm an alcoholic.

28:48

It's an illness. I can't

28:50

control.

28:51

But I can't, my brain does

28:54

not work. It doesn't go, I'm

28:56

going to have one pint, go have one pint and go

28:59

home. In my brain, that

29:01

doesn't compute. It's like, how can you do

29:03

that?

29:04

So

29:05

there's so many people like it as well, but they don't want

29:07

to sort of talk about it. I think, oh,

29:09

it's a weakness. My mates won't like me. If your mates

29:12

won't like you, they're not your mates.

29:14

Yeah.

29:15

Do you know what I mean? It's like, there's just people who want you

29:17

to get pissed and drink. They're not mates. Because

29:20

essentially, you're going to end up dying. Because if I carried

29:22

on, I'd be dead. Because

29:25

I was thinking vodka, like the

29:27

middle sized bottles. I

29:30

was doing that on the walk home from the

29:32

news agents trying to hide it from my friends and family

29:35

in the space of six minutes. Because I

29:37

loved the burn it gave me.

29:39

I was like, the buzz, yeah.

29:41

That's not well. So if you

29:43

talk about these things, I've had thousands

29:46

of Instagram messages like, thanks, mate,

29:48

I'm six months sober. And that

29:50

gives me a buzz as well. You can help others just

29:52

by saying, I'm

29:55

an alcoholic.

29:56

And that's why. Yeah, but that's

29:58

amazing. And like, as you said, that was a great question. thousands of

30:00

messages and you think like how that

30:02

message sends and you

30:04

turn around and you start golf and now you've got this

30:07

amazing golf life with everyone and it's

30:09

like fucking incredible just

30:11

hats off man I love it I absolutely love it.

30:14

Thank you man, I appreciate it I really do but

30:16

honestly it goes back to

30:18

30:25

time out to do it and you have to you know

30:34

after a break of it we could be able to do you

30:36

know some really cool stuff so thank you man.

And now you could do me a little favor as well

32:18

because we're creating Beefs golf

32:20

club a dream golf club. What are

32:22

some of the best club houses? Have you been to?

32:25

Club houses. I'll tell you what though. One

32:27

of them is Unbelievable is

32:30

Claude Harmon's Oh

32:32

Floridian.

32:34

Yes

32:35

Now that is a joke

32:38

mate. I was like I could have sat on that

32:40

balcony all day long. It was unbelievable

32:43

I've tried to explain on this about that

32:45

clubhouse Give it a

32:47

go try and explain what happens when you walk

32:49

up the steps through the front and then you walk to the

32:52

back Basically, I got

32:54

a semi I

33:08

Think yeah, it's probably the best way to describe it.

33:11

I'm like, what is this place? Come

33:14

play when you want. I'm allowed to say thanks

33:16

mate Unbelievable

33:20

unbelievable place That's

33:22

the foot. That's the first one that springs to mind.

33:25

I just love golf in America If I want

33:27

this, I just

33:28

I just love it a lot I prefer golf

33:30

abroad because I this sounds well weird

33:32

I always try and explain on the channel everyone was looking

33:35

me like what but the grass

33:37

is different

33:39

Yeah, it's softer and

33:41

I'm all about the loft beef. You know, I mean,

33:43

I'm all about the old yoga floss Now

33:49

I love golf abroad man, it's amazing so

33:51

I probably said a flurry When

33:54

when you're organizing like a golf trip another

33:56

golf trip Are you calling up the golf course and be

33:58

like, excuse me what grass is? this.

34:03

Can you give me a bounce rating on your grass,

34:05

Ben? And if

34:08

it's springy, I'm there.

34:13

Beef Golf Club's got to have spongy

34:16

grass. Well, I was just about to say,

34:18

what are you going to add at Beef's Golf Club here?

34:20

It's got to be spongy grass. Beef spongy

34:22

grass. And also what I want, I've got

34:24

to think about this, what I really, really want

34:26

with Beef's Golf Club. If

34:30

you get a birdie or an eagle, obviously

34:32

you've got to do the da-da-da-da-da-da

34:35

or that ah! But

34:37

the next hole, you get

34:39

the ability and the power given to

34:41

you, superpower, that you can fly

34:43

the next hole. Oh, yes. So

34:47

you hit your T-shot and then you can just press a

34:49

button on your hip or something and you just fly

34:52

and

34:52

then you can just go that out down the fairway. Yeah.

34:55

And then you can just go back on your back. How

34:58

cool would that be?

34:59

There we go. There it is, man. So

35:02

is that a birdie or an eagle? You can fly the next

35:04

hole. A birdie or an eagle because it's

35:06

a bird.

35:06

You can fly the next hole.

35:08

Yes.

35:09

Imagine me and you, Beef. Like,

35:12

you get an eagle. I met my actress

35:14

and you get a bird game. We're just flying just down the path.

35:16

Are you all right, mate? Yeah, are you good? Yeah,

35:18

it's nice, isn't it?

35:22

Absolutely mega.

35:24

Realistic. It's going to be like,

35:26

yeah, it's great, mate. Yeah,

35:29

you're a bird, mate. This

35:31

Royal Beef Skull Club is a bit shit, isn't it?

35:33

And it's flying. Yeah.

35:36

And I literally go 17 yards down the fairway

35:38

and I've got to come back down because I shanked one off the sea.

35:40

I was like, I see that, Beef. What

35:45

do you think about this? We're also

35:48

talking about installing a games room at

35:51

a beef skull club for rainy days.

35:53

I was telling producer Ryan,

35:55

I was telling him about the golden teas. Have

35:58

you ever played a golden tea?

37:33

is

38:00

now? Yeah, main character

38:02

of pubes. It's

38:07

like Mario Kart instead of dropping turtles

38:10

out, you're dropping crabs. Do you know

38:12

what though? We call Big Ange Bowser when he's on a

38:14

golf cart. When he's driving

38:17

it, his shoulders are so big like that, we actually do

38:19

call him Bowser. So he could be a character.

38:22

But yeah, there's a bit of work to do on that, but there's something in

38:24

it definitely. When you go to golf courses,

38:26

are you big on the food and like the food

38:28

and drink there? Is that important to you?

38:31

Because like I'm a club sandwich person. I

38:33

love a club sandwich. Sometimes

38:36

though, this is going to be very, very controversial. I think

38:38

I'm gonna get hammered for it. Sometimes I

38:40

take the egg out. Ah, yeah.

38:43

How come? Because this is

38:46

such a great conversation this is, by the

38:48

way. I absolutely love it. Like I want to go nixie.

38:51

I love random stuff. I love random stuff. I

38:53

say eggs, eggs, apart

38:56

from getting them smacked around the edge by

38:58

you. I'm not a massive fan

39:00

unless they're

39:02

scrambled.

39:03

So I sometimes find in a sandwich when

39:05

the egg runs,

39:07

it

39:08

just annoys the bacon.

39:10

Like I'm not like... I'm

39:13

not... Yeah. So sometimes I get

39:15

the club sandwich without the egg in it.

39:18

But yeah, food is important, but I just, I'm

39:21

too excited about getting on the course, to be honest.

39:23

I think the next time you order a club sandwich,

39:25

you should just ask and I have my egg scrambled.

39:29

Do you think that would work in a club sandwich?

39:32

You let me know. Do

39:34

you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna send a picture and you can insert

39:37

it into this podcast. I'm gonna do it later at

39:39

Fox Hills. I'm gonna get a club sandwich

39:41

with scrambled egg. Are you all right?

39:43

This is Beast's golf club, mate. Just

39:46

do it, yeah? Do you want to play

39:48

beef rash as well? I've

39:53

got it though, because if you get like the bonus one

39:56

on beef rash, you could get like the extra

39:58

lump par, so you can prod someone for... further

40:00

away. It's all coming together.

40:02

Exactly. Exactly. Obviously,

40:06

you've done some amazing things, golf

40:08

for the pro-ams or the amazing people you've

40:10

met. But you're officially a new member

40:13

of Beets Golf Club. How does this rate

40:15

on the honours? It's up there, mate.

40:17

It's up there not just in golfing

40:20

terms as well, just in life, really, to

40:22

be part of your golf club. And

40:24

you know, to have

40:27

myself affiliated with your golf club and you can

40:29

serve up is massive for me.

40:30

I'd just like to thank everyone

40:33

that's got me here. My mum,

40:35

my dad,

40:37

the golfing community, all

40:39

the subscribers at YouTube, if it wasn't

40:41

for you that I wouldn't be on this podcast,

40:44

nor be getting entered into Beets Golf

40:46

Club.

40:47

I'd like to thank my school teachers who have

40:51

got me here as well, keeping me on the straight and narrow,

40:54

my counsellor who helped me

40:56

get off alcohol, because without

40:58

you, I wouldn't be here in Beets Golf

41:01

Club. Thank you very much. One

41:04

last question, mate. If we were to send you some

41:07

limited edition Beets Golf Club balls, would

41:10

you play with them on the channel? Yes. 100%.

41:13

When are you coming on the channel? We

41:15

need more beef on the channel. We need

41:17

to sort this out. Yeah. Can we do it? Because

41:19

I've got a really good idea for it. Like

41:22

me and you versus Jimmy and Ang,

41:25

alternate shots, and then you helped

41:27

me with my golf. Jimmy helps Andrew

41:29

with his so it's like really important. Every shot matters.

41:32

Then you and Jimmy go head to head on

41:35

the next round and then

41:37

get John on as well. He's a proper

41:39

golfer, isn't he? Kind

41:42

of. I

41:46

thought he was getting really good. He was getting

41:48

really good until he sort of bought a chipper. Do

41:52

you know what a chipper is?

41:53

Yeah, those things on the...

41:55

Yeah. How do you feel

41:57

about...

41:58

Well, I think it's... That's what

42:00

I say. Someone tell me about it the other day.

42:02

You know the thing on the edge of the green

42:04

where you can... It's

42:07

like a putter with love so you sort of putt it

42:09

and it goes in the air. That wouldn't get into

42:11

Be Fresh, that club. That wouldn't even be

42:13

one of the weapons because it shouldn't be allowed. It

42:17

would be like one of the ones where if you're

42:19

doing really bad or it's like a surprise bonus

42:21

and you lose basically. Yeah,

42:23

if you pick that up on the way round

42:26

you lose the point because it's such a gnath little

42:28

thing. This podcast

42:30

being awesome, we talked about chippers,

42:32

eggs, club sandwiches and

42:35

then we've got a little bit of serious stuff. That is

42:37

what life's all about.

42:38

100% mate, 100%. It's

42:41

Be Fresh. Be Fresh, exactly.

42:43

You're all going to have it. No,

42:48

it's been absolute quality mate. We'll

42:50

take a quick break and then I need

42:52

one last thing, a little bit of help with a few bits

42:54

of club business if you don't mind. Absolutely.

42:59

This is

43:02

the way this lurks

43:04

around every corner. Who do you scare?

43:07

The dark. It's finding

43:10

the fun on Disney Plus

43:11

with haunted mansion and spots. I'm

43:13

going to need you to spread the word. Then, feel

43:16

the bone-chill terror on Hulu with a boogie

43:18

mat and American Horror Story television. Something's

43:20

happening to me. Good Disney bundle

43:22

with Hulu and Disney Plus. All of these

43:24

and more streaming this month. Plans starting at 9.99

43:26

a month. Disney Plus

43:28

only. Access content from needs are separately. All for valid for eligible

43:31

subscribers only. Drop some balls.

43:33

Marouton superfans are everywhere.

43:35

From the busy moms who want to deliver maximum

43:38

flavor in a flash. To dorm room diners

43:40

who want to put some slurp in their step. There

43:42

are a ton of copycats you could use.

43:45

But if you want to blast your bowl, there's

43:47

only one true Marouton. Whether

43:49

you choose instant lunch, ramen bowls,

43:51

yakisoba, or restaurant

43:53

quality gold, Marouton is the

43:55

only ramen worth of sessin' over. Smile

43:57

for all. Marouton. See you at all the

43:59

ramen-

44:03

Right

44:08

mate, the club has become a bit of a mess while Jon

44:11

has been away.

44:12

While we've got you here, I could do with your help with

44:14

some of the club business that's been coming in. Let

44:17

me bring producer Ryan in who has got

44:19

some emails for us to sort out mate. Come on.

44:21

Yes mate, I've got a few emails for you guys. I mean Beef

44:24

Rash is one of the best things I've ever heard in my life by the

44:26

way, so we're going to have a few more about that I think.

44:29

Trust me Ryan, you don't want to get it. You

44:31

don't want to get it, but if there's any games developers out

44:33

there who've heard this episode, I really want to make sure that's

44:35

the thing. Beef Rash. Beef

44:38

Rash. But we've

44:40

had a few conundrums come in from some of

44:42

our members that you guys need to pass judgement

44:45

on. So this first one is from Dave Scott.

44:47

It says, Dear Beef Golf Club,

44:49

I need some advice. I play golf once a

44:51

month with my father-in-law, who is a nice enough man,

44:54

but conversation doesn't come too naturally to us.

44:56

Golf is a good way for us to bond without having to

44:58

make small talk for too long. However, he's

45:01

recently started to give me more and more swing advice

45:04

and is critiquing every hole I play. I

45:06

wouldn't mind if he knew what he was talking about, but last time

45:08

we played, I finished 12 shots under him

45:10

and his top tips are absolute bollocks. Starting

45:13

to lose patience, but I don't want to cause a drama.

45:15

What should I do? What

45:20

an email. Dave Scott is name, what a boy.

45:23

Dave Scott, yeah. Dave Scott, I

45:25

love you already. Beef, you

45:28

go first, you're the goal for power. I know what I'd

45:30

say. Yeah, we've spoken about this

45:33

and sort of swing

45:35

advice from someone who

45:37

doesn't play too much or isn't very good is probably

45:39

the worst thing you can do. You're going to have to front it, mate.

45:42

You're going to have to pull him to one side and just

45:44

front him out on it. I think hopefully

45:46

it won't cause a drama. It could, but if

45:48

you keep beating him, maybe subtly

45:51

chuck some swing advice into

45:53

him as well. Yeah, exactly

45:55

what I was going to say. You either just go, look, mate.

45:59

I love you being part of the family and that, but this

46:02

is going to get a bit difficult because I've just

46:04

beaten you by 12 shots and you're telling me

46:06

how to swing a club. So politely

46:09

just do one. I mean,

46:12

I mean, but I bet

46:14

people like that get

46:17

right on my nerves. I imagine

46:19

he's a lovely, I imagine he's a lovely, lovely man

46:22

and they've got a nice, happy family.

46:24

But like, just let people play

46:26

their game. Do you know what I mean? We're

46:28

not going to, we're not, me, this is probably

46:31

my level. We're not going to end up on the European

46:33

side. We're not going to get anywhere near

46:35

the playing the Ryder Cup. So just get out

46:37

there, enjoy your golf, enjoy

46:39

your life.

46:40

Hit a good one,

46:42

celebrate it. Hit a bad one, just go,

46:44

all right, next one, hit a good one. Don't start

46:46

getting busy and going, well, what you should be doing

46:49

is like mapping your hand round like that. Mate,

46:52

I'm five up, you're getting done. Shut

46:55

up. Also,

46:58

I'd like another email from Dave Scott just

47:00

to find out what the tips are as well. I

47:03

want to know what tips he's been giving him. Surely

47:05

it registers that if he's getting beat this fella,

47:08

that Dave, Davey

47:11

Scott is actually doing all right.

47:13

So he doesn't need advice from someone who's getting

47:15

beaten. It's either he's doing it

47:18

help or he's did the shittest mind

47:20

games ever. Maybe

47:23

actually, maybe this guy's a genius. It's

47:25

not working though, is it? Because he's 12 shots down. Yeah,

47:28

true. But maybe Davey Scott is

47:30

getting so good that

47:32

his mate is trying to say,

47:34

no, you shouldn't do that. You're going to get so much

47:36

better if you hold it like with your

47:38

right hand foot underneath. Maybe he's trying to stitch

47:41

him.

47:42

Yeah, maybe he doesn't like getting beat, so

47:44

he's trying to stitch him up. Dave

47:46

Scott, let us know, please, because this is important.

47:48

We've got another complaint here from Alex Moore.

47:51

Hi, Beef. I have a golf in sin to report,

47:53

but it's not a confession from me. It's my mate.

47:59

Every time. is on the green he'll mark his ball

48:01

about five inches in front of where it's landed

48:04

and then thinking we haven't clocked what he's

48:06

doing we'll place the ball another couple of

48:08

inches ahead of his marker which means he's nearly

48:10

a foot closer to the pin. We've let

48:12

him get away with it for too long so the timer's come

48:14

to call him out. What should his official punishment

48:17

be? Oh fucking

48:19

hate this one. Oh you can't do the sneaky

48:21

marker move that is

48:24

grim. That is unacceptable.

48:26

That's a big sin. Is this a thing? The sneaky marker move. Is

48:28

this the thing you've heard of before? Oh yeah yeah yeah

48:30

I've seen it. I've heard it all. People marking

48:32

it like that. People marking the

48:34

ball to the side and then marking

48:37

it to the front again an inch.

48:39

I mean yeah but if he's nearly

48:41

a foot I mean that's an absolute disgrace.

48:44

Look at you just Dave. I'm just distraught

48:46

about this because why?

48:50

Like why?

48:52

Why would you do that? And you're saying

48:54

he's a mate. I'd probably

48:56

make him not your mate anymore. And

49:02

what's his punishment? Just never

49:04

talk to him again. Or play

49:06

golf with him ever again until he learns you can't

49:08

be cheating. What's the point? What's the point of cheating?

49:11

Ten years of Holotown greens. You can't

49:14

part on them things anyway. It doesn't even matter if he's moving

49:16

it a foot closer. The greens are fucked. Winter

49:18

greens are we? Temporary greens. He's

49:21

got to play on temporary greens. Can we send

49:24

beef round so every time he

49:26

puts beef smashes an egg over his head.

49:31

Every single part. Wanna

49:35

mark your ball forward do you? Crack. Wanna mark

49:37

your ball?

49:40

Crack. Matt Fitzpatrick

49:42

pops out the bush, smashes a golf ball

49:44

straight up his aris. That boy needs

49:48

to learn. That boy needs to

49:50

learn. That's not

49:52

on. Don't cheat. Yeah that seems fair. I

49:54

think beef is happy with that. Yeah I like it.

49:57

I like the Matt Patrick one as well. And

49:59

I think like every time it gets on

50:01

the green there's a big spinny wheel and they spin

50:03

it and it's either gonna be a cracked egg or Matt

50:05

Fitzpatrick in a fall off his arm. Like

50:08

a wheel of punishment. Wheel of punishment.

50:10

Wheel of punishment. Imagine that. You

50:13

and Matt Fitzpatrick never

50:15

play golf again. Jodie's

50:19

going, there's no money coming,

50:21

sorry, I can't get down to Sombory. He's

50:24

playing golf again, the G. I've got

50:27

five grand in eggs. I'd

50:33

like to only grab a year to do Portugal

50:35

back just to smash eggs over him. Matt

50:38

Fitzpatrick is no longer on

50:40

the PGA Tour, he's just ran the

50:42

golf clubs. Just smashing balls up,

50:45

he pops the parties. Yeah,

50:52

so that should be the punishment. Big smash his eggs

50:54

on him, Matt Fitzpatrick smashes golf balls up

50:56

his arm. There you go Alex,

50:58

I hope that helped. Right,

51:01

there's one more I've got for you guys. It's

51:04

a club sandwich related one actually, it's

51:06

not egg, but it's a club sandwich

51:08

one. Put

51:11

scrambled egg in it, put scrambled egg

51:13

in it. It's like Paul Hutchinson knew

51:15

the scrambled egg chat was coming, so Paul Hutchinson

51:17

says, Hi Beef, I think I have possibly the

51:19

best addition to a club sandwich and I need your thoughts.

51:22

Growing up near Hull, there was a cafe bar

51:24

called McCoy's that would add mango chutney

51:27

into their club sandwich. Next

51:30

level ingredient, chicken, bacon,

51:33

lettuce, cucumber, three thick

51:35

slices of perfectly browned but not too crispy

51:37

toast with a generous helping of mango

51:39

chutney. Next level. He's not

51:42

even mentioned egg. Not even mentioned

51:44

egg and also there's no tomato as well because

51:46

they're the devil's fruit. Um, lots

51:48

of digest there. There's loads going

51:50

on here. There's loads. Cucumber,

51:53

what the fuck is that? In a club

51:55

sandwich, thick slices. No, no,

51:58

no, no, no, no, no, no. You've

52:00

got three slices, they don't need to be thick.

52:03

You do a whole loaf of bread in one sandwich if it's

52:05

thick. Mango chutney. I

52:07

mean, I think you can tell it, I

52:09

mean, I don't know what's going on here. This

52:11

is chaos and it's ruining my morning.

52:13

It's ruining my day. He hasn't even

52:15

described a club sandwich. He's

52:19

just described something outside our

52:21

subway. Where do cucumbers

52:24

get into a club sandwich? I

52:26

don't know. What is this calf bar

52:29

McCoy? I mean, oh, cucumber. I

52:34

think there's a whole new sandwich to this.

52:37

I'd say, mate, Paul, I'm sorry,

52:39

that's not a club sandwich. But what we'll do, what

52:41

I think we should do is make like a tandoori

52:44

chicken. You could put some

52:46

cucumber, like a cucumber

52:48

mint, yogurt in it, mango chutney and make

52:50

it a bit spicy. You can have bacon and lettuce

52:53

and make it into sort of some kind of like chicken

52:55

naan wrap. That's where I'm going with it. That's

52:58

a great shout. That is. That's

53:00

what you do when you just said you just get problems

53:02

and you adapt it and come up with something fantastic.

53:06

Because

53:07

that's not a club sandwich because he's not mentioned

53:10

egg. Cucumber. I mean,

53:12

if you want some lops and mango chutney and

53:14

beef just come up with the perfect, perfect answer.

53:17

I'm not having mango chutney in my club sandwich.

53:19

I'm having it

53:20

ladled with mayonnaise. Well, that's

53:23

all the ones I've got for you. But I mean, I think we're going to have to get

53:25

tubes on in the future to basically do a whole club business

53:27

episode because I think that could make real good progress

53:29

there while John's away. Oh, 100%. I

53:32

love the man. He's best. He's

53:34

great. That's been an absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for having

53:36

me, boy. So fucking so fun. Cheers, mate. I

53:39

absolutely love it. And yeah, we'll

53:41

sort out the next time we're coming on, man. I'll definitely

53:43

come on and take you

53:45

boys on, take Jimmy on. Love

53:47

it. Legends. Love you, boys.

53:50

If any of you haven't seen Golf Life, go and check

53:52

out on YouTube. It's amazing.

53:54

It's just got the best people. Tubes is the best.

53:57

I absolutely love him. Go and check it out. Thank

53:59

you so much. Well,

54:05

what an absolute legend Tubbs is. We

54:07

definitely need to get him on again. He's just amazing.

54:10

I'll absolutely love the bloke. In
