The Black Liberation Army was a far-left black nationalist organization formed by former Black Panther Party and Republic of New Afrika members. They were active from 1970-1981 during which they committed several crimes. The most notable being the robbery of a Brinks truck in 1981 that killed a guard and two police officers. Their most famous member, Assata Shakur, is Tupac's god-mother and Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza's main influence for starting the group. Assata is currently living in Cuba under political asylum, and is on the FBI's top ten most wanted terrorist list--the first woman to ever be included on the list.
