Artists Financial Support Group
The Artists Financial Support Group is an organization dedicated to helping artists navigate their financial lives. Student loan debt for artists has grown increasingly disproportionate to their expected incomes, and it can often seem financially impossible to pursue a career in the arts (let alone start a family or buy a house). The AFSG gives workshops for graduating artists, providing both financial awareness and emotional support. Know that you're not alone. Founded by alumni of the NYU Graduate Acting Program, the members of the AFSG each graduated with an MFA, not an MBA. But as a group of working artists, we know from personal experience what it is like to struggle with loans and rent while trying to pursue a life in the arts.
