Once an industrial, workers’ neighbourhood, the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Borough has become one of Montréal’s most important tourism hubs. Its northern area saw the opening of the city’s botanical gardens in 1931, the Olympic Stadium in 1976 and the Biodôme in 1992. As the green line of the metro runs through the borough, it can be used to explore its treasures. The Joliette station is the closest to the start of our tour.

During the walk, do not forget to stroll on the well-known promenade Ontario Est and take advantage of its many local shops, including cafés and bistros. Discover the work of muralists Gilles Vigneault, Benny Wilding, Monk-E, as well as fountain sculptures by Alfred Laliberté. You can also relax at place Simon-Vallois along the way. Finally, enjoy discovering or rediscovering the Maison de la culture Maisonneuve, with its many activities.

Careful the Pi IX station is in repair until December 2022
