"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Once we put our confidence in material things and earthly riches we ate bound to get disappointed at some point. Especially when we lose these riches or lack what we expect to have. God works very differently from us and His thoughts are not our thoughts. 

Unfortunately, the mentality that earthly riches are life's fulfillment is our damnation. This is the main cause of depression among us, when we lack what we have been made to believe we should have. We put so much pressure on ourselves and this leads to so much anxiety and depression. 

Instead, we should look on the things above; God's promises over our lives. Our dear Father loves us and has great plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11). This will take our thoughts away from material belongings which are not eternal and draw us to the things above. 

We are a chosen generation, and even though life may get really tough, we have this confidence: 

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
