West Virginia healthcare could be changing dramatically after Bill HB2301 went into effect last month. This new law clarifies that direct primary care agreements do not constitute insurance. This will allow doctors and patients to bypass a host of onerous regulations and requirements under the state insurance code. HB2301 also stipulates that direct neither primary care providers nor patients have to obtain a certification of authority or license under chapter thirty-three to market, sell, or offer to sell a direct primary care agreement. We discuss the impact this may have in this episode of Appeal to Reason.
