... Fascinating conversation with Robert Macfarlane. Gilgamesh’s descending into the underworld started a conversation in which mythological storytellers were also fascinated by what is beneath us. Who can forget the Chilean miners who were trapped insides their underground mines for weeks? We all were rooting for them! We wanted them to emerge alive and well! It’s quite surreal that Robert included their story in his book. Also, additional factors influence our curiosity towards products or elements within the underland such as gemstone ( precious and non precious ), fossils and fossil fuel. Another surprising insight is the need to bury our dead? Why? That is a good question; and I’m eager to read this book to be indulged. The under land is wealthy and we can’t hinder our fascination with it, can we?
