We have all been drinking our alcohol in the form of beer, wine or maybe something stronger like a Whiskey or a Gin. However, in this digital age, its not too difficult to become bored of the archaic monotony of life. That is where a drink like Cider comes to save you.

The drink itself is not new of course, however, it had lost its prime position from the common man’s table as the Germans and French started travelling far and wide, taking beer and wine to exotic locations in the world and intorducting people to these milder forms of alcohol. Cider dates back to 55 BC, when the first Romans sailed to the British Isles to see locals enjoying this drink.

The islands had their own apple orhcards in plentiful and it was from these orchards that the locals picked Eve’s forbidden fruit to ferment and enjoy with family and friends. Thus, dating back to the origins, cider is alcohol that has been fermented from fresh pressed apple juice. The time it takes to complete fermentation is anywhere between two weeks to years. Because of the nature of cider making, that has developed over the years, this beverage can be categorised between Wine and Beer. Today the definition of cider has gone beyond alcohol made from fresh pressed apples. Wine Makers and Brewers all over the world experiment with different kinds of fruits to ferment alcohol, with their own ingredients and styles of fermentation.

Ciders taste from anywhere between dry to fruity. However, it does not take as much time to acquire the taste of cider, as it is for beer or wine. You develop an innate liking towards it since the raw ingredient is familiar to your taste buds if you have been following the proverbial ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’. To know where Wiggs Cider falls in this range of palette, go and try one out and let us know in the comments below.
