Elizabeth Wuraola Kolade did not set out to become a cybersecurity expert. She wanted to be an engineer. But when she applied to university in Nigeria, a "beautiful accident" happened, she says.   She has earned recognition in several spaces for her work in cybersecurity, including being named one of the top 50 women in Cybersecurity Africa in 2020. She is a YALI Fellow and an Alat by Wema Bank Tech Chicks of 2018 Fellow.

In this Kafe Ankara interview with host Ada Ezeokoli, she shares how she got into the world of cybersecurity, how the continent is faring in the sector, who her role models are, and why educating younger girls in cybersecurity is a huge passion for her. She also shares tips on staying safe in cyberspace.

Editor's Note: This interview held in 2020, and since then the Cybersecurity Ecosystem in Nigeria and Africa has grown beyond the extent discussed in this conversation.
