In this conversation we talk about the collaborations forged at Impulse. Charles Mingus mixes it up with John Coltrane and the very talented instrumentalist Eric Dolphy. Shirley Scott, Queen of the Organ wailing on the keys with Oliver Nelson arranging the horns to a fever pitch ending. Jazz guitarist Gabor Szabo a Hungarian American jazz guitarist, underrated for his distinctive compositions, contributions, and collaborations. Adding to the mix of our talk is Max Roach shining with his percussionist styles that changed the way Jazz would be listened to.  Saxophonist Albert Ayler is one deep cat, open to Free Jazz and Avant Garde. All this timeless music brings a very versatile body of work to be acknowledged and appreciated for the signature grooves that came out of Impulse.

Charles Mingus – Better Git it in Your Soul
John Coltrane Quartet – Africa
Shirley Scott – Freedom Dance
Chico Hamilton - The Lady Gabor
Max Roach – Garvey’s Ghost
