Dr. Wang Ping is a professor, poet, writer, photographer, performance artist, and multimedia artist. Currently, she is She is a Professor of English at Macalester College.Wang's first book, the short story collection "American Visa," was published in 1994. She has published poetry, short stories, novels, cultural studies, and children's stories. Her multimedia exhibitions address global themes of industrialization, the environment, and interdependency.Wang received her B.A. in English Literature from Beijing University in 1984 and immigrated to the United States in 1985. She received her M.A. in English literature from Long Island University, where she accidentally walked into a creative writing class and began writing poetry, stories, and novels. She received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from New York University.
