Sequoia Houston is an actress, writer, and entrepreneur. She’s no stranger to life in front of or behind the camera - or in this case, microphone.In 2017, Sequoia launched MochaStock.com, a stock media agency focused on images featuring diversity and people of color. Like many, during 2020, she became overwhelmed by the dual health and racial pandemics that plagued both the United States and the world at-large.She cringed any time she would hear someone say that they should incorporate diversity into their practices because it was “simply the right thing to do” because while they were, in fact, correct there are real ramifications to bias, and it seemed like many fell short of seeking to understand it’s full impact.In February 2021, Sequoia Houston launched Diversity Be Like to discuss these topics and help people not only understand the impact bias has on disenfranchised communities but also help the disenfranchised with ideas and solutions to help them move forward.
