Richard J. Lazarus is a constitutional lawyer and a Professor of Law at the Harvard Law School, where he teaches Environmental Law, Natural Resources Law, Supreme Court Advocacy, and Torts.Previously, Lazarus taught at Indiana University, Washington University, and Georgetown University.Lazarus's first book, "The Making of Environmental Law," which was published in 2004, "Environmental Law Stories," which was published in 2005, and "The Rule of Five: Making Climate History at the Supreme Court," which was published in 2020. He was also the principal author of "Deep Water: The Gulf Oil Disaster and the Future of Offshore Drilling," the report to the President of the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.Lazarus received a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
