Katie Thornton is an independent multimedia journalist. Her work focuses on public history, from explorations of how and where we remember the dead, to the spectacle of early American urbanization, to our present-day news, food, sport, and culture.Thornton's documentaries stories have appeared on 99% Invisible, the BBC, National Public Radio, WNYC, Minnesota Public Radio, Lantigua Williams & Co., and others, and her articles and essays have appeared in The Washington Post, National Geographic, National Geographic History, National Geographic Traveler, Atlas Obscura, Wildsam Field Guides, and more.Thornton received her B.A. in American History from Oberlin College, where she was also worked at the college radio station, WOBC Oberlin College and Community Radio.
