Claire Dederer is a nonfiction writer and memoirist. She teaches writing at the Pacific University MFA program.Dederer's essays, reviews and criticism have appeared in The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Atlantic, The Nation, Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Real Simple, Entertainment Weekly, New York magazine, Chicago Tribune, Newsday, Slate, Salon, and High Country News. Her first book, "Poser: My Life in Twenty-Three Yoga Poses," was published in 2010. Her second book, "Love and Trouble: A Midlife Reckoning," was published in 2017. Her third book, "Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma," was published in 2023.Dederer began her career as the chief film critic for Seattle Weekly.
