Alexander Augustus is an unusual Writer and Director. Hailing from the visual arts, he is part of a new generation of artists who create spectacular installation works that are composed of meticulously made elements, using classic methods: illustration, textiles, metalwork, alongside digital media; audio, animation, VR and sound design. His recent audio works have included a speculative future forecasting story for a lithium mine, “Power from the Blazing Stone”, and a placemaking fantasy story for an urban regeneration project, “Alexander in Mimesis.”Trained in anthropology and art history, before training as an artist in America and then at Central St Martins in London, his work is essentially a coming-together of narrative with processes of making. Over the last decade he has organised large-scale events and exhibitions in the UK, US, Germany, France, and East Asia, and has been exhibited in venues such as Tate Modern, Somerset House, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul Culture Station 284, and others. His work has been collected and permanently installed globally, and he has been archived in the National Portrait Gallery.Augustus has worked in academia as an Art History and Anthropology lecturer, and in the commercial sector as a Game Artist for Game design and Advertising firms.
