r/AITAu/death2paseknpaulI am a set designer involved in my local community theater scene, and recently took on a project I have an extremely normal and healthy level of interest in. The schematics I am using for this project's set aren't the best quality, and I can't read 90% of what they say, but I'm confident in my ability to create something excellent, and make my ex so embarrassed to have doubted me that that she either breaks my sexual dry spell or fakes her own death. There's just one issue: I do keep causing several of my actors, especially the lead, severe physical injury at a relatively frequent rate due to the fact that I cannot speak French like at all (there's a correlation, I promise). My best friend says I need to at least download DuoLingo, I think the fruitcake be-eth a little too nutty. AITA?
The Vanishing Act is zany and beautiful and weird and just so much fun to listen to. A tongue-in-cheek love letter to theater and the bizarre.
I don't know how to describe how much I love this show. Perfectly cast, perfectly executed, and gODS I didn't know it was possibly to laugh this much!!
The Vanishing ActThank you so much! <3
The best comedy audiodrama since Wooden Overcoats, Vanishing Act is astoundingly fast-paced and witty. With great production quality and comparable sound design and acting, the main cast brings a kind of energy to bear that I've never seen (or, heard) outside of a live theater stage. It knows exactly when to be cynical or sincere, it's visually distinct somehow in a completely audio medium, and it's actually kinda heartfelt where it counts. But, is it funny? Yes. Yes, it is. Very, very funny.
The Vanishing Act blends high and low comedy brilliantly. The tone is light and witty. And it is very witty - full of Shakespeare and other literary references, a man named Mr. Schwanzkopf, and totally believable artsy characters. The premise is very original and refreshing - a 17th century magic trick gone wrong and early 20th century characters trying to figure out what happened. The performances and spectacular!
The Vanishing ActThank you so much!
This show is pitch perfect in both globetrotting plot and sense of humour, with both having layer upon layer to peel. I've listened to the series through a few times now and always find something new I spotted each listen. Can't wait for the new series.
This show is weird in the best way possible. Full of fast paced, witty dialogue, great acting and sound design. I really enjoyed it as a more lighthearted and fun listen. Absolutely vibrant.
Very chaotic and very funny
Like being on the receiving end of a heavy machine gun loaded with hilarious dialogue. The funny comes at you so fast that this show will have you developing an intimate relationship with your "back" button. There is also a duck in it, which is important.
