RATING
Best daily show around. Mike always has great guests, and I always enjoy hearing him talk with guests he doesn't agree with. And the puns, oh so many good puns.
This is my only "daily." If the standard was "With whom would you want to have a beer?", Mike Pesca would be three-term President of Podcastia.
Accomplishes it's stated goal, giving the essence of the news cycle, and causing me to think twice on a daily basis. So I think bi-daily. I hope it's more than that.
The best, most insightful politics podcast
This is my favorite podcast. Mike has a unique mind and dives into all types of news and interesting topics.
If you like smart commentary on current events and interesting interviews that last 15 or so minutes with authors, artists, public officials, and more, this might be a podcast for you. Pesca's brain runs at about 300 mph, and he packs a lot into a short amount of space. For a long time I avoided the podcast for the shallow reason that his delivery, influenced by years as a sports journalist and sports yakker, reminded me too much of, well, tedious sports yikkers. Pesca is so much more than that. Maybe not for everyone (what podcast is?), but people who mostly listen to podcasters who sound like NPR hosts might be surprised at how enjoyable this show is.
Absolutely fantastic show for commentary, news, comedy, interviews, and more. Full review here:http://podpiperreview.blogspot.com/2017/03/the-gist.html
Smart, insightful, witty and entertaining, Mike is a superb interviewer. His podcast is one of the very best.
Mike Pesca is a renaissance man. He is bright, curious and delighted to share his often quirky perspective on the day's news. He also is an outstanding interviewer. More times that I can count I've heard his guests pause and say, "I've never been asked that," and always in a way that suggests gratitude for actually reading their book or piece of journalism and finding an intelligent way to interpret it.I can't imagine starting my weekday without him.
My morning is not complete until I have me some Gist. Insightful, funny and poignant.
I don't know about this one. The host is lively and you can tell he's experienced but the conversations aren't terribly interesting.
My second-favourite podcast, and I'm from and in Australia.
I have been listening since the beginning and the show is consistently informative and funny. Mike is a national treasure. Um Peru De Peru Do Peru, and thanks for listening.
